More accurately, will He keep us from entering heaven, if we don't pray often or read the bible (often) during our life here on earth? Will he judge us based on whether we do those things or not? Interesting questions, so give me your comments, opinions, etc.. :)

They are good things to do.. But they are works, our doings.. We are saved by What Jesus did for us.. Not what we do or fail to do, except for believing Jesus and trusting in the Atonement He secured for our salvation..

We believe and trust, and He Redeems us..

The gate to heaven is always open. All we have to do to walk through it is repent of our sin.

Hello Blue-Ladybug
I would say no He would not keep us from entering heaven . Here are two quick quotes from scripture . I can source more but you get the idea here .

ESV
Mark6:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

As mentioned above they are good things but are not saving.
I have look at faith and works as being related something like fire and smoke. Faith is the fire kindled in our hearts by the Holyspirit ,and works is the visible smoke produced. What God sees is in our hearts and not what man sees the smoke . They are related but not the same . It's not a perfect metaphor on faith and works but I hope it gives ya a sense of where I come from on the subject.
Blessings
Bill

The only criteria regarding a judgement that would keep us out of heaven is whether or not the shed blood of Jesus dying for our sins is sufficient punishment or not. I trust and have faith that it is.

I agree they don't bring us salvation but instead glorify God.

Look at the Thief on the Cross. All he did was believe Jesus WAS God. He did enter into Paradise with Jesus Christ.

Our entrance is based on have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. We are expected to do Good Works, but our Salvation is not based on our Good Works.

The only way to miss out on Heaven, or Paradise if you like, is by willingly sinning.

The only works that do not apply is works of the flesh, not works of the Spirit, for the Bible says works of the Spirit, that a man is justified by those works, and not by faith alone.

Not saved by works is saying that any works we do to try to find favor with God will not save us,but only by confessing Christ are we saved, which is a free gift of God.

Not saved by works mainly means apart from Christ, like the false religions, and faith without works is dead, after we are saved, and have the Spirit.

People are confusing it,placing not saved by works in the wrong time, although if we do Old Testament physical ordinances in the New Testament it has no bearing on our salvation.

in my weakest moments the enemy tries to convince me that the gates are closed for me even though I always say and believe it was never our own efforts and strength that mattered but his alone
