MPW,

very often when you give your self to Jesus, He will begin to separate you from the world,
even from your own family,..this is a great 'test' that He asks of us and this will enable us
to discern just where we are in our journey in our Love for Him, and it never stops, not
for even a day...
Please explain this more...I have a hard time believing any of this.

Pott,
you have greatly surprised us in your expressing yourself in Not understanding what we have
said according to scripture...

it is as simple as this,- Jesus must and has to come before the world and our bondage to it...
He will never, ever, take second place, if we truly love Him FIRST above all...

We also become a "new man" according to Scripture.

For me personally, I can assure you that I AM different now than what I was before being saved.

Yes, Fiji. I heard that it is over 90% Christian. Apparently Tonga is similar. I wouldn't mind joining the Bora Bora Chorus. ;)
Just wondering here.......not criticizing...........how much of that 90% is Catholic vs. Protestant?

And, as in the USA, how many of the "call themseves Christian" yet really are not.

God doesn't want us to judge others salvation cuz He ain't done with any of us yet. So hard to believe in percental accuracy.

Sides I would rather focus on the remnant that display His Spirit and fruits of walking with Him.

We arent judging others salvation. Its one of those "check the box" type questions. You know how some will call themselves "Christian" but arent real Christians. If this was based off a "poll" then the percentage is most likely lower due to people just calling themselves a certain thing. I, like PR it seems, question those types of things.

But yes off real topic here.

I fit right in, I've been a peculiar person since birth. :D

In all seriousness I've never fitted into the "in crowd" either at work or church.
Im shocked at what I see going on among unsaved family, friends and work
colleagues. The way they swear, sleep around, go partying and get so drunk they
can't remember whether they had a good time or not, but assume they must have done.

It shocks me that the only other Christian in my work place (since retired) use to
encourage work colleagues to spill the beans and gossip about their drinking antics,
who kissed who etc at the office party and who ended up in bed with who.

It shocks me when I look on face book and see Christians posting pictures about partying,
drinking, hot tubbing, going on holidays and getting a little too friendly with the natives.

It shocks me when I see them posting their Facebook app horoscopes for the year and tarot
card readings.

But it also shocks and disappoints me to know that while I don't do any of the above, I
have my own weaknesses as well which I still have to strive to over come.

Jesus IS first in my life and He has been for some time now but Christian friends are also important and can help you in your walk with God.

Regarding the OP, there are some folks (sorry I don't know all of you that well) on this very thread that I can categorically state are very much different because of the "Jesus effect" in their lives.

I dont use the term Christian anymore, because there are many people who use the term and their fruit tell me a different story.

IN fact, when the disciples were first called Christians at Antioch it was not a term of endearment, it was a a very punitive, condescending and degrading name. This is why Paul uses the term son of God and why I started using Son and daughter of God decades ago.

Somebody asks me if I am a christian I say NO, I am a son of God and it usually starts a very good dialogue with That person.

I like that. "Are you a Christian?" "No, I am a child of God.". That is a good conversation starter. If we say "Christian" then that turns many people off and they dont go beyond that. If we reply "A child of God" then that begs a question because that phrase isnt used often in conversation. Very nice! Thank you.

That is good. I also think that a lot of the time, based on behaviors and actions of the associates, the term "Christian" has a negative connotation.

I have always identified myself as a child of God because I know God will always love me even if the rest of the world rejects me.

No matter who you talk to you can always find at least one thing you disagree about. However you normally can find at least one thing you agree upon as well.

Someone told me once, that before you speak, you should learn to listen.

Wise words. They make a lot of sense. Unfortunately, because they make sense, most people in the world will never heed them.
