We'll see. Many have tried to change this place. All have given up.
Not all of us. However, there is only so many hours in the day, and only so long I can tolerate herding cats at a time.

Well, quite frankly, getting too hooked up on the 4th just ruins a good Saturday of fishing.

Hooked? Fishing?

I see what you did there! ;)

Okey dokey. Here ya go..................

A person hears the Gospel preached (you know, how faith comes from the hearing of the word), realizes its truth and makes a conscious decision to turn from their sins (repent - change your mind) and accept the free gift of salvation that's available to us by the sacrifice made on our behalf by Jesus' death on Calvary. We then begin to study His teachings and do our best to conform our lives to what He taught and to immolate His example of how to live our lives. Part of that is reaching out to our fellow man who are still in their sins with the good news.

How'd I do?
"A person hears the gospel preached"... could you be a little more specific ? What did they hear? What was the good news?

Wonder why we needed all those epistles and books in the New Testament? Wonder why Paul called the gospel a great mystery?
It is hidden from them who have been blinded by the god of this
world. I once was lost, but now am found :D Praise the Lord!

I think I covered it pretty well. Would you like to ask me a specific question? I'll be happy to answer.

Rats! Throw some stuff in there we can argue with. Good sense isn't really too appreciated here. LOL

Yeah, I started not to use that as an example since a thread on the 4th Commandment is where a few folks were trying to discourage my participation in the forum. ;)
Have not been to the 4th Commandment but believe I will now... Good work Officemayo

I've heard it said that baptism does that.
Them folks be all wet :p Well, unless they mean being baptised by the Spirit and with fire? Being born again of the Spirit? That is the saving baptism :D

Well the core of the gospel (good news) is justification by faith in Christ apart from the works of the law of Moses ... do you teach a believer is yet under portions of the law of Moses ...example ..10 commandments or other laws contained in the OT?

Immolate means to destroy by fire. I think you meant to say emulate :D

Although Jesus did say every unproductive branch would be thrown in the fire...

You just might fit in here. I'm used to most of my stuff just sailing right on by.
One learns to be observant of their surroundings to survive. Problem is that I only see out of one eye and maco degeneration is eating up the vision in the one eye I can see with. Recently had to buy a new Bible with HUGE print and I only hope I live long enough to transfer all of my notes and my reference system into the new one. ;)

So I am assuming you do believe the sound doctrine that Paul taught was needed for the church ..is still needed for the Church?

I will not assume to know to which doctrine you refer... care to be more specific, my brother?

Please refer to my earlier comment about going blind. I do the best I can with what I've got to work with, but I appreciate the heads up. Too bad there's a time limit on editing a post or I'd go fix it.

Some people leave and never come back because of what they find here. Others leave and come back under a new user name, then leave and come back under a different user name, then leave and come back again... repeat ad infinitum. Some come to stay. Welcome to the fray! Hey, I joined fourteen months ago today. I have never left nor come back under a different user name. I was a member on two other sites before this one, where I was talking mainly to non-believers. This site is pretty tame compared to that, despite the few who rage and roar constantly.
I have been staying away from the BDF. To much drama here for my mellow soul.

You don't understand the biblical term "sound doctrine" ?

Assuming anything just makes an ass out of u and me.

I'd like to see a day where people don't assume anything and would instead ask questions to get answers. That would be super rad. I bet it would cut down on a lot of the superfluous arguing and bickering that goes on here. Then again, without the interpersonal nastiness this place thrives on, it would be mighty quiet around these parts.
