LOL!!! That was funny!!

And how about all the scriptures taken out of context? Reminds me of Christian comedian, Mark Lowrey's fanatical characterization of "Deacon Larwell Jones".

when a relatively new person comes on board, and believes his own opinion is the superior one, as you are doing such a good job of in the 4th commandment thread, we expect to see a thread dedicated to the fact they believe their opinion is the better one

since people are not in awe of your superior knowledge and deft way of ignoring what they said and twisting what they said, I guess the only thing you could do was create a thread like this

I appreciate humor...but you are just actually wanting everyone to say your interpretations are the better ones

no worries...as Frasier says, I got you pegged

Thanks! Nice way of trying to ruin a thread by dragging another subject into it.

I can't get over how my simply stating what I believe is tantamount to saying I'm right and y'all are wrong. Do you do this anytime you disagree with someone? I am not hurt or offended by anyone else on this forum because we disagree so I can't understand why you'd say such things.

I guess it's due to there being no body language, voice inflection or tone in typing.

Oh well. I guess if you feel so strongly about me (I'm flattered by your attention, btw) you should probably not bother reading any comments I make in the future. Tis a shame because I love learning from someone else who can show me I'm wrong.

Best to you and yours!

So are you the tossed salad or scrambled eggs he was referring to?

Yep. Lol

Here are some hot topics you might want to avoid:

Grace/works/law
Which bible version
Is the earth flat or round (I kid thee not)
Tongues
Holy Spirit
Trinity
The Pope
Pre-trib post-trib
Sunday
Baptism

If you believe in God that's probably ok.
Or you could get stuck right in and take some popcorn with you.:)

Thanks for the tip!

Could you possibly list the subject that we CAN discuss? I find this funny because I belong to a few pages on FB that discuss Bible issues and there's nobody getting their feelings hurt or accusing those with whom they disagree as trying to be the King of the Hill.

Don't forget Judging. If you judge, you'll get told to stop judging by someone who has judged your judgement to be wrong.

Yep. That one is probably the first arrow in the quiver of those who feel threatened by an opposing opinion. ;)
Followed at a close 2nd place is "Touch not mine anointed and do my prophets no arm". I've heard Benny Hinn throw that one around a lot.

Blessed are the cheesemakers.
What's so special about the cheesemakers?
Well obviously it is not meant to be taken literally. It refers to any manufacturer of dairy products.

Be prepared for this, it's rife amongst the threads. Once you've got that into perspective and just come to expect it from some members along the way, you'll be more equipped to respond.

May have just hit it...'trying to be the king of the hill'.

Thing is.

Even though we should indeed try to to let our personal interpretation run off with us, it is impossible

Try this:
Go to a cafe with two friends.
When you get back, ask them to write down ten sentences about what happened in the cafe.
I am quite certain they won't write the same things. (well, maybe one or two, but certainly not everything)

Some people leave and never come back because of what they find here. Others leave and come back under a new user name, then leave and come back under a different user name, then leave and come back again... repeat ad infinitum. Some come to stay. Welcome to the fray! Hey, I joined fourteen months ago today. I have never left nor come back under a different user name. I was a member on two other sites before this one, where I was talking mainly to non-believers. This site is pretty tame compared to that, despite the few who rage and roar constantly.

I know full well from having been in law enforcement what you say is true. That's why LEOs don't put much stock in eyewitness testimony. I think that if folks would forget about what they've heard Granny say all these years or what the Reverend Billy Bob Blowhard says on TBN and just READ what the Bible says they've have less arguments. I take the scriptures literally where they are obvious literal and when they are not, I compare them to other scriptures throughout the Bible that speak on the same subject. Do have it all down pat? Nope. I still can't get my mind wrapped around some of it (like Revelation, for example), but I'm amazed at how some people are so caught up in what this Christian author says or what that YouTube video says that they lose sight of what the Bible actually says.

For example, many feel that keeping the Sabbath precludes going to church on Sunday. The Bible doesn't say that and neither do most Sabbath keepers.

Oh well. Folks that think they can chase me away or beat me down with insults don't realize that having been a Marine and a Correctional Officer, I've got thick skin (thinker in some places than I'd prefer) and can take it from the best of 'em. :D

Regardless of where you go on the internet, it seems some measure of thick skin is required. This is not the age where it was considered impolite to express your opinion. This is the age where teenagers are committing suicide because of things people say to them online. The vulnerable have always been preyed upon by predators. Now they have internet accounts to help them do it...

This is the BDF (bible discussion forum). The mere act of posting here makes you a target for all kinds of attacks. Some new users quit the site after a day because of this area. Some users refuse to come in here at all. It's a rather vile place.
