hebrews 5: 7-10 “During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, HE BECAME THE SOURCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION FOR ALL WHO OBEY HIM, and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.”

John 14 :21- 24 “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”...
Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.”

john 15:5-10“I am the vine; you are the branches. IF YOU REMAIN IN ME and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. IF YOU DO NOT REMAIN IN ME, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. IF YOU REMAIN IN ME AND MY WORDS REMAIN IN YOU (* john 6:63), ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, SHOWING YOURSELVES YTO BE MY DISCIPLES. *(john 8:31-32)
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. REMAIN IN MY LOVE. IF YOU KEEP MY COMMANDS YOU WILL REMAIN IN MY LOVE, just as I HAVE KEPT MY FATHERS COMMANDS and remain in his love.”

2 corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, IF anyone is in Christ, He IS a new creation: The old HAS GONE, the new HAS COME!”
galatians 6:16 “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is THE NEW CREATION.
ephesians 2:10 “For we are God's handiwork, CREATED in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us TO DO.
galatians 5:16 “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is FAITH EXPRESSING ITSELF through LOVE.”
1 corinthians 7:19 “Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. KEEPING GODS COMMANDS is what counts.”
1john 5:3 “In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome”
2 john 1:6 “And this is love: that we walk in OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As you have heard FROM THE BEGINNING, his command is that you WALK IN LOVE.”

just a sample. In the name of Jesus Christ who suffered and died for you, your beloved children and family, for your worst enemy, for myself and anyone else. Please dont let people lead you astray and convince you that there is no need to obey Jesus Christ and the gospel. these scriptures are a mere sample of what is repeated from the beginning of time. Gods commands are to be kept because they teach us how to Love one another in truth. For His sake who suffered so dearly never be found speaking against the truth that is in Jesus Christ and the commands of God that are the words of Jesus Christ found in matthew, mark Luke and John. the old testament is promising Him, the new testament is testifying of His truth.

the grace of God is always this ( titus 2:11-15) the gospel is to teach us how to Love the same way Jesus Loves us, they are good and right and true, they are for us, not against us. honor what Has been done and God will never fail in Keeping His promise. a deceived mind sees obedience as slavery and opression, a new mind Loves His ways and walks in them. Guard your heart and the things you allow yourself to believe. the Gospel doesnt change God, it shanges the one who believes Jesus.

All glory, praise, truth, power and majesty to the God whom we serve through the Lord Jesus Christ.

you dont have to accept me, you will probably never meet me, never know my name, i will never ask you for anything, never want a "disciple" I truly mean nothing in the equation. my message to you has been since january. accept and follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and guard your mind against those who would deceive you into omitting the Life that is offered in the gospel. many others know the same, so im nothing special or of any account. Just go to the word in your own bible and study these things. dont simply omit everything because of what a popular doctrine or its disciples tell you, the blind will lead a person down the wrong path, Jesus will light the way Home to God the Eternal Father who Loves you so much, that He gave His only Son to suffer and die, to forgive you and bring you into the truth of Life.

matthew 16: 24-27 "Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done."(mark 8: 34-37)

consider Jesus walk in His ministry, and the walk to His death carrying His cross. and then consider His teachings and what they are really about. " laying down self for the sake of others"
Putting yourself to death inwardly in regards to the sinful nature and its desires and passions. Lust, greed, pride, anger, malice, deceit, selfish ambition, mans approval and honor, revenge, grudges, ect. His teachings are to lay these things down, put them away from you. and then you find Jesus teaching do these other things ( put away greed, and give to the needs of the poor, put away malice and turn the other cheek, put away Lust and be pure in thought ect) then consider paul and what He is saying in His teachings regarding these things.

colossians 3 :5-17 "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

ridding our lives of sinful motives and actions is what is found, and practicing inner purity and righteous actions is what is found not only in colossians and matthew, but in all the 4 gospel accounts, and all of pauls epistles. By reading paul, pre indoctrinated that all he teaches is a conditionless grace, it forces the mind to omit what is truly there regarding the gospel that is meant to put to death the sin that is in us, the sin in us, results in sinful actions. " make a dish clean on the inside, the outside will be clean"

ephesians 4: 20- 24 "That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness."

you will find the same throughout pauls teachings if you look for it, but to look for it, you need to accept whats there and not what someone has told you is there. you will find the four gospels, in the epistles of the apostles, you will find the four gospels in the old covenant as well. withg the condition " apply these things, do not only hear them, do what you are hearing because you know God is saying it" when you look up and see Jesus on the cross, one of the things it is, is an image of your sinful nature being put to death, that is "the message of the cross that saves" if we will take a step towards obeying Jesus, He will strengthen us to take the next step, and the next as we willingly take up the cross and follow Him. there is no other way, it is the gospel. as you practice His things, it will prove true to remove those things we struggle with and never can overcome without the gospel.

I have experienced Lust dying, violence dying, pride dying, all forms of deciet dying from the smallest lie to the schemes our deceitful hearts come up with, any form of greed ect. it works for those who are tired of living under the power of sin, it works for freedom to live a new life far from sin and disobedience to God. it will 100 percent work for anyone who believes in Jesus Christ. yes it costs your life, but you find the life God truly meant for His people is offered freely to those who pick up the cross and follow thier Lord who died for them. it simply takes a decision " I trust Jesus Christ, i believe His word about things, I commit my life to Him who is worthy having given His in exchange for mine I will follow Jesus" there is no greater reward on this earth than to lose your life before Him, and find your Life in Him. it is the gospel that because He loved us, we Love him in return, His way. what right does anyone have to refuse His word who suffered to save us? Let Him be honored with your life.

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. Hebrews 2:10 (NIV)

Meditating on Scripture is a wonderful thing! As I read through Hebrews, I am asking God to highlight themes, verses and truths that He wants me to notice. So in reading Hebrews chapter 2 today, I got stuck on verse 10. The NIV translation says that Jesus was made “perfect through suffering.” Well, that begs the question:

Was Jesus not perfect before He suffered on earth?

That messes with my theology a bit because God is perfect and Jesus is and always has been fully God. In fact in this verse, it describes God as being the One “for whom and through whom everything exists,” yet we read in chapter 1 that the universe was made through Jesus (v2) and that He sustains it by His powerful Word (v3). Further, in John 10:30, Jesus says “I and the Father are one.” More subtly (to us 21[SUP]st[/SUP] century Christians anyway), Jesus proved over and over again that He was God by forgiving sins. Such actions were anything but subtle to the Jews in Jesus’ time. They understood that only God could forgive sins. Every time Jesus said “your sins are forgiven” he was making a very loud and clear statement to the Jews that He was God. (See Matthew 9:2-6 for a great example of this.)

So Jesus was perfect before He suffered on earth, yet Hebrews 2:10 tells us that he was made perfect through suffering. I read the verse in many different translations and I read it in context (i.e., reading through the entire passage and fitting it with the passages around it). I then read several commentaries to see what they thought of the verse. I learned some things – they added to my head knowledge, but didn’t satisfy my spirit. Few commentaries even addressed verse 10.

So I laid the passage aside and read a couple of chapters of 2 Samuel (following our
Resting at the River’s Edge reading schedule). I then went back to the passage in Hebrews. Still nothing. So I agreed with God that I would meditate on the passage – mull it over and over in my mind, examining it from many different angles, letting it settle in my mind, heart and spirit – all the while asking God to help me understand it – to bring revelation to me about this passage.

And He did just that! Sometimes we need to meditate on a verse for days, weeks, or even months or years before we gain insight into it. Today’s revelation came very quickly. (Thank You, Lord!) God brought to mind notes I had made from my husband’s sermon at a local nursing home just a few days ago. He was talking about the purpose of suffering and explained that suffering is both our punishment for sin and a byproduct or consequence of sin.

You know the story about what happened in the Garden. Eve violated God’s only command and ate the fruit and gave some to Adam who was standing beside her. Through their rebellion, sin entered the world. Later in the day, God was walking in the garden. That’s where I’ll pick up an abbreviated version of the story.

[SUP]11[/SUP]“…the LORD God asked. “Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?”
[SUP]
12[/SUP]“Yes,” Adam admitted, “but it was the woman you gave me …”

[SUP]
13[/SUP]Then the LORD God asked the woman, “How could you do such a thing?”

“The serpent tricked me,” she replied. “That’s why….”
[SUP]
14[/SUP]So the LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you will be punished. You are singled out from all the domestic and wild animals of the whole earth to be cursed. You will grovel in the dust as long as you live, crawling along on your belly….”

[SUP]
16[/SUP]Then he said to the woman, “You will bear children with intense pain and suffering…”

[SUP]
17[/SUP]And to Adam he said, “…I have placed a curse on the ground. All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it. [SUP]18[/SUP]It will grow thorns and thistles for you, though you will eat of its grains. [SUP]19[/SUP]All your life you will sweat to produce food, until your dying day. Then you will return to the ground from which you came. For you were made from dust, and to the dust you will return.”
Genesis 3:11b-19 (NLT)

Adam’s punishment was that what had been a joy in his life – tending the beautiful, growing garden – would now become work, and hard work at that. And the beautiful garden was now a cursed place that would grow thorns and thistles. Both the people and the land (and everything dependent on the land) would now suffer. Suffering became both a punishment for Adam and Eve (and all their descendants) and a consequence of their sin as the entire earth was subjected to the curse.

Against its will, everything on earth was subjected to God’s curse.
Romans 8:20

With that in your mind, let’s go back to Hebrews 2:10:

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering.
Hebrews 2:10 (NIV)

Jesus, as the author of our salvation, was made perfect – or complete through the suffering He experienced. We often say that Jesus paid the price for our sin. The price, the penalty for that sin could not be paid in full without experiencing the suffering that is both the punishment and the consequence of that sin. God could not have laid all the sin of the world upon His Son without Jesus experiencing the suffering that the sin caused. Christ was not “made perfect” through suffering, but His sacrifice was made complete through suffering; His authorship of our salvation was completed.

Imagine – imagine – the sinless one willingly experiencing the suffering that results from your sin so that he could author your salvation. That’s what He did and that’s why the new covenant is superior to the old covenant. Jesus’ suffering made His sacrifice complete. Without the suffering, there would be no salvation for you and me. I’m sorry, so very sorry, that Christ suffered because of my actions. But I’m oh, so very glad He willingly did.
Another reason that Jesus is greater…than all.[/TD]

This is true. Jesus first Jesus last, Jesus all and Jesus, just Jesus.

Magenta I am not sure what your post meant, I think you copied and pasted it, I would have preferred to read something from your heart that was stirred up from what you read here. May be you wrote it earlier and it conveyed your thoughts, but To hear your spontaneous heart would be wonderful.

Thank you followJesus, I am moving forward little by little, my path is still not clear, but when I put my foot down there is solid ground there, LOL even if I can't see it LOL.

I look forward to standing for that week, although I keep the situation always in my heart and close in prayer.

I have stepped out yesterday, and whether I will get an opportunity to follow up I am not sure, it was only a small step But I thank Jesus that I was used, and pray for His protection in these circumstances, and that I can lift the name of Jesus high so He will be seen and nothing of me remain, in Jesus name.

If we are to impact in the enemies strongholds we need to storm the walls, we need to trust Jesus as our captain, we need to trust His leading and when the enemy throws a curve ball we just trust, and in trusting we stand and in standing we fix our gaze on Jesus and He does the work.

Jesus is the name above all. Mention anything and Jesus is above it, WOW! my mind can think of all sorts of stuff that impacts us, sexual immorality, Jesus tops that one. Lust, Jesus is still on top, alcohol, Jesus is still there on top, soft drugs, LOL hard or soft any name given is still subject to JESUS. Any problem we face Jesus tops it and the biggest is death, Jesus tops that as well, Jesus even says we have to loose ours to gain His. If we trust Him with all our being then being dead only brings us close still.

Thank you again followJesus, I needed to read that. I keep you in my prayers always, Prise God! Love you Bro'.

I wanted to write . . And? but it wasn't enough characters LOL. So by what you wrote here
1 Cor. 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
do you mean you think I am not mindful of where God the father sits in all this?

Jesus said, "He who has seen me has seen the father". There is no other name under heaven by which men can be saved, JESUS. God or Father or Father God honours the Son, Jesus. All authority has been given to Jesus, on earth and in heaven, by God.

If I die with Jesus on my lips will I not receive eternal life? But because I did not die saying God or Father or Jehovah or anything else describing God I will be condemned?

Does not the written word of the scriptures which were dictated through the holy Spirit by the word of God who is Jesus the Christ, say ; "Jesus is the name above every name . .", so where do I err?

Jesus was always perfect.. He was perfect before He existed in His flesh body and He was never imperfect.. So stating that He was not perfect is a denial of His Divinity..

Jesus is LORD
Jesus is the WORD

John 1: KJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 ¶There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

ApprehendingGrace.com » Jesus Made Perfect Through Suffering – Say What?

im not really sure i see the connection.......Jesus carried the human nature, the human nature is imperfect. He was subjected to temptation which proves that he bore the nature of man. He never yeilded to temptation, though he was subject to it and obeyed God even to the point of being crucified. what this is saying this verse, is that Jesus perfected his flesh. it is concerning "His life on earth" Not His existance with God before the creation, the Bible is clear that He was with God in the beginning. thuis passage is referring to His earthly life, the time he was subjected to the nature of man, bearing the flesh, perfecting it through suffering, AS we are called to "share in the sufferings of Christ" .God is spirit. in the beginning, Jesus was spirit with God and ordained to come be made a man, perfect mans flesh, through suffering and dying in perfect obedience to His Fathers word.

the verse is not that complex. it begins " during Jesus life on earth" which tells us, it concerns his life on earth. and what He accomplished while on earth, becoming the source of eternal Salvation for those who obey Him, as He was annointed to do from before the creation. Having overcome the "world" as we are called to overcome the world by following His example.

were not supposed to say " jesus did it, so now i dont need to obey Him" He is our example, our source to receive Gods holy spirit within us, He is "the firstborn over Gods creation" in this way, the first perfect man according to His life on earth. it doesnt mean He wasnt with God in the beginning, its not saying He wasnt perfect, but that He perfected the flesh he bore through suffering the cross in perfect obedience to God, as an example that we are to follow by " laying down our selves, picking up our cross and following Him through the gospel" in order to put our sinful nature to death by trusting Him actively, trust meaning enough to believe He is right when he is teaching us how to live. teaching us what is evil, what is Good and applying them to our Lives obeying God even though it requires us to suffer inwardly or outwardly.

1 peter 4:1-6 "Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4They are surprised that you do not join them in their reckless, wild living, and they heap abuse on you. 5But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit."

and paul. 2 corinthians 4:10 "We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body." phillippians 3:10 "I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death," romans 8:17 "And if we are children, then we are heirs: heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ--if indeed we suffer with Him, so that we may also be glorified with Him." there are alot more, its really all through the new testament.

we are "the body of christ", we are called to be the "bride" which is a reference to the 2 becoming one, we are to be one with Jesus as He is one with God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

so then the writers of hebrews somehow are wrong???

listen, this is not saying that Jesus was not with God in the beginning, it is a reference to Jesus, perfecting the flesh. it begins " during the days of Jesus life on earth" Jesus was made man, bore the nature of man, was subjected to temptation, never yeilded to it, he carried an imperfect nature, perfectly. even to the pint of suffering and dying on the cross. this has no place in denying that He is Gods Son, nor does it say He was not with God in the beginning. has nothing to do with His divinity, has everything to do with what He did while carrying the nature of flesh. His flesh was made perfect thropugh suffering, yet still obeying Gods Word. and therefore, became the source of eternal salvation for all who will accept and obey Him. as the scripture says.

Love you Bro'.
you also are in my daily prayers brother, and your family, fighting hard for you in prayer. i need some prayer for healing myself as recent tragic events in my life have broken my heart. I thank God for His word which is the only place i have found comfort hiding away within its Life daily He is comforting me. Love you bro

1 Cor. 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
john 15:10 "If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love."

"the Lord of every man is Christ, the Lord of Christ is God."

A very big factor in looking at scripture is the "lens" you use to view the scripture.

In the Old Covenant " you had to do or else"..If you do this..then I God will do that.." = conditional on the person performing

New Covenant =
Jesus has done it for you which empowers you to "do"

Let's take a look at a common scripture with these 2 mindsets.

Jesus said.." If you love Me, you will keep My commandments"

Old Covenant mindset = conditional on the person "doing"..

So they would read it this way.."IF you love Me you will keep My commandments"..
in their mind it's saying.."Keep My commandment and you will prove you love Me."

New Covenant mindset = it's a description of who you are in Christ.

They would see this "Jesus' love is in me so I keep His commandments"..it stems out of relationship and it is not conditional but descriptive of the believer.

1 John 4:18-19 (NASB)
[SUP]18 [/SUP]
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

[SUP]19 [/SUP]
We love, because He first loved us.

Then there is more..lol..there seems to be more sometimes eh?..just what are His commandments anyway?..Be perfect as My Father in heaven is perfect?...can we possibly do that?..of course not..that is Moses 2.0

Ahhh..found His commandments in 1 John 3.

1 John 3:23 (NASB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP]
This is His commandment, that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as He commanded us.

...the "lens" that we view scriptures greatly affects us. We try to mix the Old Covenant ( before the cross and resurrection ) with the New Covenant and we get a religious mess.

Religious traditions of men, philosophies of men, ..what we were told all our lives in church or in the world etc. ..all influence how we view scripture. Sometimes some of our "sacred cows" can get sacrificed and it's painful.

Colossians 2:8 (NASB)
[SUP]8[/SUP] See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.

Do you know grace777x70, I read your post three or four times and I agree with one thing above all else

So they would read it this way.."IF you love Me you will keep My commandments"..in their mind it's saying.."Keep My commandment and you will prove you love Me."

[SUP]5 [/SUP]“If you love me, keep my commands. [SUP]16 [/SUP]And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— [SUP]17 [/SUP]the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[SUP][c][/SUP] in you. [SUP]18 [/SUP]I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

This is worded differently because it comes as if you love keep the commands and you have written keep my command and it will prove you love, and not to be pedantic here but they are both the same, are they not?

And yes if I show I love Jesus by keeping His commands and you say that is wrong then how do you show Jesus you love him. Telling Him? Saying 'I love you Lord'? I am reminded of a man who had two sons and he said to each one "Do this" one said "OK dad" and went and spent the afternoon fishing, the other said "No way" and while putting his fishing rod into his bag went and did what he had been asked. Who showed love in return to his fathers request?

I am referring more to the inward compulsion for showing love for God. Is it a natural outflow of His love being manifested to us and thus we love back or is it us "trying to love Him". These are subtle differences but can show what is really driving us. His life in us being manifested or us trying to strive for loving Him on our own strength and human love.

I think that is the crux of the gospel of grace. He loved us and thus we too love back with His love that He gave us but it is built on the Father-son relationship and not the servant relationship. Rom. 5:5 shows that God put His love in us by the Holy Spirit.

As far as the fishing rod story - that reminds me of the older brother who was mad at the father because he killed the fatted calf for the younger son.

He served his father by obeying him but he didn't really know his father and he was away from the father too - just like the younger son only it manifested in a different manner. But that is a whole different topic.

Who showed love in return to his fathers request?

i see alot differently than that.

He is saying through the whole chapter. I have loved you, as my Father commanded, now you Love as I have commanded. He isnt saying at all " if you dont keep my commands, i wont Love you" of course He Loves even the very worst of us, that has already been shown and proven, because He died for us at our very worst. in essence He is saying "keeping my commands, is to love the same way I have Loved you" its aboput learning how to Love each other, as he taught us through His commands, not so he will Love us, the teaching is that we are to Love Him, the way he taught us.

to humans Love can mean many different things, Jesus Love is about how you treat other people. He says " this is my command, that you Love each other as I have Loved you" alot of people think being nice on the surface is Love, Jesus is teaching us to Love truly, as God has always commanded through actions. to Love as Jesus Loves is to la down our selves for the sake of our fellow man. unselfishness, self sacrifice. to a rich person who is greedy, they mist lay that down, and use what they have to help those who have need. to a violent man, he mist lay that down and Love in peace, the proud man must become humble, the man who lusts after women, must Love by losing that and loving from a pure heart ect.

each of us when we believe the gospel will certainly find things that offend us, pointing to our sin. the light exposes our darkness, rather than take that offense and decide we dont need to change, we have to grasp that God is teaching us something of eternal value. think of this : if every person followed Jesus teachings, there would be no sin. no war for he commands peace, no grudges for he commands forgiveness, no adultery, for he commands faithfulness ect. a perfect woprld would result, and WILL be the result in the end when things are made new, the gospel priniciples will still be obeyed. this Life we live now, is for our learning. our repentance of the things that bond us to sin and therefore death.

Jesus Loves us, He died to prove it to the world, it is the foundation of the eternal gospel. Our part is not to say " I am not required to hear and do as i am being told by Gods Only Son, who has all authority in heaven and earth. but to come to the knowledge that He and his commands, teachings, principles are for us. to remove the things that bind us to death, and also to teach us the ways of wternal Life. we dont obey so that He will love us, but because we already believe that He does, so much that He gave His Life. Faith resuls in a returning of our lives for The truth that He gave His for us.

when he says " if you keep my commands, you will remaoin in my Love, my command is this: that you Love one another"
He is saying if you do what i am telling you, you will be remaining in the way i have taught you to Love." Just as Jesus remained in the way His Father taught Him, we are to remain in the way Jesus taught us." which is what His Father taught Him. " I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I will be in you" we are called to be one with Jesus, who is one with God the Father." this is accomplished by learning, and obeying the commands of Jesus Christ, who already obeyed the commands of the old covenant because we could not" " just as I have obeyed my Father and remain in His Love, so you obey my commands and remain in my Love"

its a teaching, how to Love Like Jesus, who Loves Like God

Do you believe that Jesus was born of a virgin?
of course, it is written that He was. Do you believe that Jesus was born of a human being. flesh and blood? and that even mary, had to be born again in order to enter the Kingdom of God? think about it, if we MUST be born again what does that tell you about human beings? which Jesus certainly was as to His appointment on earth. He carried for us, the nature of man that was corrupted in eden and passed to us through adams blood. Jesus took that nature and perfected it, therefore we are only redeemed through HIS perfect blood that had not yeilded to sin, but overcame it by the spirit of God

lol like that pic thats funny. really the bible is like that all the way through. you can study the law, and find the commands of Jesus. and you can study from acts to revelation and find the commandments of Jesus. the gospel is the centerpiece of it all. john 6:63 " the words I have spoken to you, are spirit and they are Life" jophn 6:68 " to whomelse would we Go Lord, for you have the words of eternal Life" " Heven and earth will pass away said Jesus, but my words will never pass away" He is our everything. Not just a sacrifice to atone for sin but notice there are around 50 to 60 names for Jesus in the word, among those " teacher, shepherd, Lord, the word of God, wonderful counselor, master, Lamb of God, Son of God and on and on because He not only died and was raised again because God commanded it to him, but Just as valid, God commanded that He is Lord of all.
