All who are of the belief of Jesus Christ are called to be full of good works,
Just as God causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain to the righteous and unrighteous, so in likewise manner are all who are children of God are called to freely do good on all,
To be full of good works is to do good wherever an opportunity to do good presents itself,
Such as in the example of the good Samaritan,
And as such, being full of good works, all who are of the belief of the Lord are called to give to the poor,
Giving to the poor is well pleasing to God, so much so, that even Cornelius, who regularly gave to the poor, did not have knowledge of the holy spirit, but because of his prayers and gifts to the poor, an angel appeared to him giving him instructions of where to go, which led to him receiving the holy spirit,
So although it is through mere belief in Jesus Christ that salvation comes, one is then called to be full of good works as a result of that belief,
And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8 [NIV])
so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, (Colossians 1:10 [NIV])
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10 [NIV])
Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. (2 Timothy 2:21 [NIV])
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. (Matthew 5:44 [NIV])
If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them. (James 4:17 [NIV])
But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. 'Look after him,' he said, 'and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.' "Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?" The expert in the law replied, "The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." (Luke 10:33-37 [NIV])
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Matthew 19:21 [NIV])
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." (Luke 18:22 [NIV])
He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, "Cornelius!" Cornelius stared at him in fear. "What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. (Acts 10:2-4 [NIV])
Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works. (James 2:26 [NLT])
