I Watched the testimony of Katherine Baxter a few hours ago. To those who don't know miss Baxter made trips to both heaven and hell with the Lord. On one of the trips to hell the Lord said he wanted to show her what blashpemy against the Holy Spirit is and took her to a man in hell who was a preacher on earth. Long story short the man was a born again believer but had fell away and ended up teaching against the same holy ghost that he had. The holy ghost left the man and he ended up in hell. He was born again. And willfully sinned against the holy ghost.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to the enemy.
However, we do need discernment to understand what is of the Spirit and what is a lying sign and wonder from the enemy.

Very Interesting post. Yet very important I can not really comment on the Testimony of the person I only have the context that you have provided . But the Bible give us the context as to why this term was used and Used By Jesus OUR Lord only.

Found in Matt 12 :22-32 and Luke 10:12.

Matthew Gospel give the most context as why Jesus said this, and it is very important because so many out there have been told they have done the unforgivable sin. which is very destructive to those who don't even know what it means to have done it.

Matt 12:22Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.23.And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?24.But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.25 And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:26 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? 27 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.30 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. 32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

No where do you see Jesus say to them " You have Blasphemed the Holy Ghost" Jesus Knew their Thoughts and Jesus knew they were ignorant to the Spirit of God. Jesus was admonishing them. Blasphemy is a sin of knowledge The Sin here was suggesting Jesus cast out the devil by the power of the devil. And Jesus immediately corrected that line of thinking.

I do not know how this person went to hell but what I do know ones personal experience doesn't Trump the word of God. or is more authoritative than the Word of God. I would say the only thing is the person who was in hell is no longer alive and the issue of forgiveness is not there because they were dead already.

iF ANYONE HAS ANY REMORSE or concern that they have blasphemed the Holy Spirit that is a good indication ONE HAS NOT. This is why we should only speak of this issue in the context of the Word of God; so those who are young in the Lord are not carried away with the idea they have done this..

The woman was deceived. She didnt go to heaven or hell! That was a delusion from satan. This is a modern day delusion that has happened over and over again with people writing books about it! We know all we need to know written in Gods word! Even paul was careful not to disclose what he saw. God has told us all we need to know until we are one day with him the second our body dies. There is a chasm. e know this by the story of Lazurus and the rich man.

Like narrowroaddisciple has said: Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is KNOWINGLY attributing what is holy to the enemy. Remember this story?

Matt. 12:22-32 says, "Then there was brought to Him a demon-possessed man who was blind and dumb, and He healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw. [SUP]23[/SUP]And all the multitudes were amazed, and began to say, "This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?" [SUP]24[/SUP]But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons." [SUP]25[/SUP]And knowing their thoughts He said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand. [SUP]26[/SUP]"And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? [SUP]27[/SUP]"And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Consequently they shall be your judges. [SUP]28[/SUP]"But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. [SUP]29[/SUP]"Or how can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. [SUP]30[/SUP]"He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters. [SUP]31[/SUP]"Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. [SUP]32[/SUP]"And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come,"

I believe there is broader view of this. The Holy Spirit is to lead us into truth. Therefore blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is unbelief in the work of the cross, since He convicts of sin and leads to truth. This is the one sin for which there is no cover.
One cannot choose to be an unbeliever and expect to be saved.

Indeed PollyAnna.
In addition there is another point. The only people who can blaspheme the Holy Spirit are those who know who the Holy Spirit is and know how and what the Holy Spirit does. It refers to people who have become so hardened against truth and with consciences seared over so that they have no remorse at attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan.

Like CS1 said, if there is remorse at one's actions, the individual probably has not blasphemed the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for posting brother, but Ms. Baxter's comments do not line up with the Word of God whatsoever...

check out Matt 12.22-32, Mark 3.20-30 and Luke 12.8-10

Who are you to discredit this woman's testimony? I know what the bible says. I've read the new testament several times. I don't need to be shown verses I've read a million times over.

In the context of the scripture when Blasphemy of the Spirit was mention they were NOT believers and saved. They were the ultra religious crowds of the pharisees. AND this was the Lord Jesus in human form doing works through the Spirit. They were attributing His miracles done through the Spirit to satan.

Blasphemy of the Spirit doesn't apply to us today. Blasphemy of the Spirit applies only to the Lord Jesus Christ doing miracles through the Holy Spirit personally. IOW, if we saw Jesus Christ in the flesh, and saw Him do a miracle and attributed it to satan........we would be guilty of blasphemy of the Spirit. How many of us see Jesus Christ in the flesh doing miracles?

How could Jesus be talking to people about the Holy Spirit when the Holy Spirit had not been given yet? His disciples were present so while he was talking to the religious leaders he was also teaching his disciples of things to come.

Jesus, in His humanity, did everything through the power of the Spirit(Our example.) He laid aside His divine attributes and was filled and walked with the Spirit at all times.........the way we are suppose to live.

Attribute His works and miracles to satan while He was on the earth showing us how to live.......blasphemy of the Spirit.

Interesting but false story. God does not take people to Heaven and Hell today to begin with.

Second, no Believer who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior will ever blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:30
[SUP]30 [/SUP]He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.

Its the non believers who blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

The word of God discredits her testimony! There is a chasm! People cannot go to either place until they die! Evidently you need to ask God to teach you his word instead of you reading in your natural flesh. You must be led by the spirit of truth. Im trying to warn you! You are going to get more of the delusion you crave if you are not careful. God will oblige you so that you grow up. Look what he did to Job who was full of pride........

Quite simply, blasphemy of Holy Spirit is refusing the call to repentance. There is no forgiveness because there is no repentance and sin cannot be forgiven if one does not accept Christ and seek forgiveness. Jesus would NEVER name a sin that could not be forgiven, because He wants none to perish, so even a pastor that has fallen away can still repent, even if he's spoken against Holy Spirit. It is the unrepentant sin that is the unpardonable sin and only because forgiveness is never sought.

Paul wasn't allowed to disclose things he saw in heaven..........I would be very skeptical of having John or Jane doe try to tell me.

This is not true, for if God wanted to give us a description of hell in detail such as she gives,it would be in the Bible, and God gave John the description of heaven.

If John already gave us the description of heaven, which he was caught up to the third heaven, there is no need for Mary Baxter to give us a description.

There is no need to give a description of hell, for one thing it is complete darkness, there is nothing to see to give a description. The people will not even see each other.

Hell is hot,and complete darkness, what description could Mary Baxter give, for that is all the information God gives about it.There is nothing to know about hell to go in to detail about, which she is lying,or delusional.

God already gave us the description of heaven, and hell,in the Bible,so there is no need for her to give one,so she is false. Her testimony means nothing, for it is already recorded in the Bible, and there is no detail about hell, but hot,and dark.

It reminds me of when Lazarus was in Abraham's bosom, and the rich man was in hell, and he said, father Abraham, send Lazarus to my brothers,so he can tell them about this place,so they do not end up here, but Abraham said,if they do not hear the words of Moses, they will not believe even though one rose from the dead.

The only people it would seem like she could impact would only be those that already believe the Bible, for the people that do not believe the Bible is true, would not believe even if one rose from the dead and told them.

God would not cause anybody to visit hell to warn the world it is true, for they have the Bible that testifies it is true, and God says, let them hear that, and if not, they are not going to believe anyway.

Mary,Mary, quite contrary, how does your delusion grow. With visions of hell, much to tell, and people there that did reap what they sow.

Will people just plain stop it in this world,it is crazy, hearing about her and her crazy antics, and one person saying he is part of the 144,000 in Revelation, and another he is one of the 2 witnesses, and one he is the Word of God,and another that he is the 3rd angel in the book of Revelation, and Co-Prophet of the end times, and people exalting themselves above measure, thinking they are some great prophet, and people prophesying the day Jesus will return, and when the antichrist will appear, which it is ridiculous.

Be the humble person that you are supposed to be,and stop thinking you are something that God did not say you were.Arrogance of people is terrible.

Yes indeed and that is what Jesus clearly identified it was when He revealed the Sin when the scribes accused Him of doing His miracles by the power of demons .. When they did that they blasphemed the Holy Spirit and they will never be forgiven it...

Just because a person reads the New Testament over and over again does not mean that person has leaned anything. Many claim to read the Scriptures, but many do not study the Scriptures. There is a difference between just reading and actually studying the Scriptures Absolem.

We are to test the spirits. This lady has claimed many trips to Heaven and Hell. I for one do not believe a word she says because there are false prophets out there doing the will of Satan and i believe she is one of them.
