How can a four letter word cause so much confusion?Like it got dissected by the carnal mind because we couldn't logically understand what love actually is.
Definitions from language causes nothing but even more confusion,because we put our feelings into created words,giving them power.

If your significant other says "I love you"It's more then likely that it is not the same love.That's not 'true love' that's carnal mind true love.

True love was the beginning of creation, and the answer to life.
So what is it?I want that love.Not in the mind,but in the heart.The kind of love where I can say "I love you"and it doesn't matter who I say it to.Friend,family,
Enemies.Just a random person,and it's true,true love.

That kind of love that wont need to be separated into a category when I say it.
Where in the Bible can I find a verse on this kind of love?
In the heart is where I want to feel it.

In a way,relationships are meaningless,unless it's truelove.
Maybe it's just overthinking things,but it gets rather depressing.

Agape love is that of which you speak. Some KJV verses on love:

1 John 4:8 - He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 13:34-35 - A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

1 Corinthians 13:7 - Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

John 21:15-17 - So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.

Luke 10:27- And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

1 John 4:10 - Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins.

1 Corinthians 13:4 - Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Romans 8:38-39 - For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Matthew 5:43-45 - Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

John 14:21 - He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

1 John 4:20-21 - If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

John 16:27 - For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

Mark 12:30-31 - And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment.
And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Corinthians 13:4*-‬7 ESV

I find, like all people, some people are harder to love others, when I come across that I try stop, breath and think okay, I'm going to choose to love this person. Now what does that look like practically? I'm going to be kind to them, I'm going to be patient with them in their flaws, I'm not going to be rude to them or demand my way with them, I'm not going to act as if I'm better than them and I'm not going to hold anything against them if they do anything wrong against me or do anything that inadvertently offends me by their words or actions...amongst other things.

These are a conscious choice at times, times I fail, times I succeed, but all in all, it is the spirit of God in me who has shown me to love, and is the work of God to continue to help me.

Love is merciful in a world where mercy is long forgotten Love is patience and understanding Love is gentle and kind to the wounded and the hurting Love is hope when none is found Love sees what no one else does Love does not seek glory or a crown upon his head Love cares not about recognition but rather wishes to have God and others recognized Love is a servant who wears rags and is seen and known to others only as a lowly servant yet is more royal than any prince or king Love is willing to go to the extreme for the sake of even the most cold and evil of hearts Love is willing to go to the extreme for even the most blood stained of souls out of love because Love sees something beyond all the darkness and evil and sin within the human soul worth fighting for worth suffering greatly for worth dying for.

Love is not simply an emotion Love is a way of seeing a way of thinking a way of being Love is the still waters that calms the raging fires within the human heart Love is the fire that ignites itself within the believers soul Love is God Love is Christ Love is christian Love is you and me

Here is an expanded Greek translation by Rick Renner and Sparkling Gems that I love and have on my wall. ( I should read it more as we all have the love of Christ in our hearts by the Holy Spirit - Rom. 5:5)

What is love?

Love patiently and passionately bears with others for as long as patience is needed;

Love doesn’t demand others to be like itself; rather, it is so focused on the needs of others that it bends over backwards to become what others need it to be;

Love is not ambitious, self-centered, or so consumed with itself that it never thinks of the needs or desires that others possess;

Love doesn’t go around talking about itself all the time, constantly exaggerating and embellishing the facts to make it look more important in the sight of others;

Love does not behave in a prideful, arrogant, haughty, superior, snooty, snobbish, or clannish manner;

Love is not rude and discourteous — it is not careless or thoughtless, nor does it carry on in a fashion that would be considered insensitive to others;

Love does not manipulate situations or scheme and devise methods that will twist situations to its own advantage;

Love does not deliberately engage in actions or speak words that are so sharp, they cause an ugly or violent response;

Love does not deliberately keep records of wrongs or past mistakes;

Love does not feel overjoyed when it sees an injustice done to someone else but is elated, thrilled, ecstatic, and overjoyed with the truth;

Love protects, shields, guards, covers, conceals, and safeguards people from exposure;

Love strains forward with all its might to believe the very best in every situation;

Love always expects and anticipates the best in others and the best for others;

Love never quits, never surrenders, and never gives up;

Love never disappoints, never fails, and never lets anyone down.”

Jesus' teachings are love people no matter how they treat you.

I look at love coming from people to people,is that you want no evil to befall anyone,no matter how they act,but you only want what is best for them coming from God.Sure they might offend you,but if they do,you still want the same prosperity to befall them,as you would the greatest human being that you love on earth.Sure Hitler was terrible,but you want the same prosperity to come to him,as you would those who are close to you,for it is not our place to say anything,or condemn,for they are God's property,and it is spiritual,so what can they do to that,the part that really matters,for they cannot offend that.

If the world could offend our spiritual side,and do harm to it,it would be different for Jesus would have us do something about it,but they cannot offend there,but only the flesh,so let it go.

In the world some say to those than offend them,go to hell,but the saints do not say that,but when someone offends the saints,they say,go to heaven,which we want all people to turn to God and be saved.

So when someone offends you,shake your fist in the air,and say,go to heaven.

When it comes to people,our mind should only think about uplifting them,and never putting them down,which the flesh gets involved sometimes when dealing with people.

We are to love people no matter how they act,and love people as if nobody ever harmed us in our entire life,with that kind of attitude towards them,even if they offend us,as if they did not offend us,for we want the best for all people regardless of how they act,and let God,deal with them,for they are His property,and it is spiritual,and not physical,so according to who we really are,spiritual,they can never offend,for they cannot touch it,and their words have no hurt against it.

So they really are not offending us to our true nature,if we are of Jesus,only offending our temporary holding cell,but we do not care about that anyway,for we want nothing to do with it when we leave this earth.

To the fat,we look at them as not fat,and not say fatso,to the homosexual we look at them as not homosexual,and not say queer,to everybody we look to them,their faults,or what we think is faults,as if they have no faults,and are prefect,when it comes to loving people,for we overlook anything they do,and say,as if they did not do,or say those things,when it comes to loving people,a neutral attitude towards all people,as if they all love you and never would hurt you,when it comes to loving people,for we can say nothing,or do anything,to harm anyone,verbally,or physically,but look to all as equal,despite their faults,when it comes to loving people.

We can point out faults,coming from God,but never put down,or cut down,or belittle anyone,but like I said sometimes the flesh gets in the way,me included.

Most of the Love mentioned in the Bible is agape love. It isn't a feeling or emotional. Or even liking another person.

It is virtue love. Love that is directed to another that is wholly dependent upon what we are, not the other person.

We are sinners, enemies to God,wretched and lost. But because of who and what God is, He loves us. Not based upon who and what we are, He is virtuous that is why He loves us.

And we get this type of love the moment we are saved(Holy Spirit). We love because Christ is in us. Impersonal, unconditional love.

I love my wife personally. I love who she is. I love my enemies because of Christ in me. His virtue. Even though I personally don't like them nor want to see them.

When I was little I went to daycare and the teacher asked me what love meant to me I told her I'd give her my answer tomorrow and came back with

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails.

Written on a piece of paper :p

Love is the un-speakable-joy we feel in our hearts and souls when we
truly know and Love our Saviour...
