The grace of God simply means to find favor and acceptance from God. In the NT Greek the word for grace can also be defined as “the spiritual condition of one governed by the power of divine grace. And also as..“divine influence upon the heart”…... χάρις cháris, khar'-ece; from G5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life;including gratitude):”

The grace of God given as a gift to an individual but is also demonstrated in power and influence over the one who receives it, as shown in Ephesians 3:7 “Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.”

So when God’s grace is actively working in a believer by faith, there is an influence upon the heart that is also reflected outwardly in ones words and actions bringing forth good fruit, as shown here in Romans 1:5 “By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”

So though the grace of God is given as a gift to us, and we are chosen and elect and anointed by God, there is an active manifestation of God’s grace working in His elect for the obedience of the faith and for to do, and to work God’s works and will in our lives, by the power of His Spirit working in us and through us.

But there are also many imposters who proclaim themselves to be “in Christ” or born again of God’s Spirit, or “under grace” but truly are not. So is one able to tell the difference between the true and false according to scripture? I believe there is.

First as we saw above in Romans 1:5 the grace of God is given for the obedience of the faith, so disobedience is a sure sign. It is also written that this faith that is given then establishes the righteousness of the law in us Romans 3:31 “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 8:4 “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

This is also confirmed under the NT that we have the righteousness of God’s law written on our hearts and minds. Hebrews 8:10, Hebrews 10:16. So we are not “lawless” as some might suggest.

Also another sign of the active power of God’s grace working in a true believer is that sin shall not have dominion over you. Romans 6:14 Meaning you will not go on sinning and serving the lusts and desires of the flesh, but have truly been set free from the bondage of sin in your life by the same power of God’s Spirit of grace.

So we conclude as in Titus 2:11-15 “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,[SUP]12 [/SUP]Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;[SUP]13 [/SUP]Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;[SUP]14 [/SUP]Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.[SUP]15 [/SUP]These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”

Peace and God bless.

Grace, Unmerited favor. The power of salvation according to paul.

It, Unlike law, Causes us to walk in a way pleasing to God. Because it is not judgmental, It does not hold grudges, It is merciful, loving, forgiving, Enabling, It destroys fear, And it is the bases of a loving relationship with God and his adopted children.

Who would not want to serve a living god when he gives us all these things?

Of course, No one,

So what do we say about those who mock the grace of God?

1. They do not know God
2. They do not understand Grace
3. They are either proud, self righteous, holier than thou legalists, or Proud, lovers of sin licentious men and women who as Jude says their future destruction was for ordained, Because why? They loved sin more than they loved God. But they wanted to play church, so they played the game..

Here is my view on empowering and working grace of which I agree with a lot of the OP.

As far as being "obedient to the faith " goes..

To be "obedient to the faith" is to believe in Christ's work on the cross, burial, resurrection and ascension to the right hand of God our Father - and we are with Him too because we are joined as one spirit with Him. Thank you Jesus!

Acts 6:7 says that a great many of the priest were being "obedient to the faith". These priests were the cleanest living people on the planet - doing the whole Law as best they could - yet this is not being obedient to the faith.

Living without sinning ( as these priests surely thought they did ) is not being "obedient to the faith".

The life of Christ will produce that in us because we are in Him - if we hear the word of Christ in order to grow up - or we just end up making a religion out of "not sinning" and it masquerades for Christ's life manifesting in us.

There are 2 aspects to grace. The very first thing that Jesus does with the woman caught in adultery is that He gets rid of her accusers - the religious Pharisees that wanted to condemn her because the "bible" said so in the Old Covenant...she was to be stoned. ( the law condemns us )

Jesus was the only one qualified to condemn her but He didn't.

1) acceptance grace - which has nothing to do with our behavior -
as seen with the woman caught in adultery. Our Lord beautifully says " I do not condemn you".

It is in knowing you are not condemned that releases the other aspect of grace.

2) now, go and sin no more - this is empowering grace.

Empowering grace enables you to be who the Father sees you are in Christ now because you are a new creation in Him.

The religious mindset says to the woman caught in adultery - 'Do not sin and we will not condemn you."

The grace of God and the blood of Jesus speaks of better things in this New Covenant of grace!

"Knowing" that we are not condemned in Christ "releases" the life of the empowering grace to transform us. It's all about Christ! It's His fruit being manifested in us!

Acceptance grace which is not based on our behavior needs to be cemented in our hearts before empowering grace is able to be manifested.

What believers in a self-effort/self-performance D.I.Y. holiness/righteousness based mindset and the self-appointed "fruit inspectors" have a very hard time with is the "acceptance grace" part...this just drives them nuts...and I understand why..it is scandalous and it "conflicts" with our religious man-made traditions.

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

A empowered grace produces good works. By their fruit you shall know them. :)

True grace doesn't permit us to stay the same; after you know that you are not condemned - it empowers you to change.

Grace was never intended to allow us to keep on being the same as the true gospel of the grace of Christ is God's very empowerment through the life of Christ in and through us that transforms us - as we behold the glory of Christ as in a mirror - we see Him for who He really is and also in that same mirror we see reflected back who we are in Him because we are one spirit with the Lord and the Spirit transforms us outwardly into His image ( 2 Cor. 3:17-18 & Col.3:10 ) -

Colossians 3:10 (NASB)
[SUP]10 [/SUP] and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him

His life transforms us outwardly to reflect Christ that is in our inner man - created in righteousness and holiness. We "awake to righteousness and sin not". Awake means to come to ourselves - to sober up.

When we see that we are called to the true life in Christ and we know we can't work it up and can't accomplish it in our own strength but we desire the His life in us to come forth - that's when empowering grace comes to make our faith a reality in our lives.

You got it. :)

When grace is operative in the Christian life, there will be "obedience resulting in righteousness" (
Rom. 6:16)

which begs the question. Law is the opposite of grace,

So what happens if Law is the operative word in the Christian life?

The funny thing is, this is what I have always preached all along....being set free from sin by the power of God, and also being empowered by God to do His will and works. I think you guys are finally starting to come around and see the Light.

of course, for the unbeliever we hope it leads to Christ.. But there are a few other things it may do to a Christian or person who thinks he is a Christian.

We have never denied it, That's the first issue, Why did you think otherwise is the second.

God showed how much he loved us by sendingJesus to die on the cross for our sins.If God gave us what we really deserved we would all be in hell right now.Aren't you glad that we serve a God that is very merciful and very loving. When God looks at us He sees us in his righteousness. You can never get salvation through works. That's what legalistic churches teach. We're saved by grace Ephesians2:8-9. John1:10-13 and verses 14 and 17. John3:16-17, Romans5:8, Romans6:23, Romans8:1-2, Romans10:9-10. All these verses talk about salvation and the grace of God. May these scriptures help you to grow. To God be the glory. Preacha24-7

Another aspect that goes with "fruit inspectors" is just what is fruit? And what does this fruit look like. What if as an analogy a Christian is like an orange tree?

An orange tree is still an orange tree even though it doesn't produce the fruit we want to see in the timeframe we think it should. What happens if this orange tree dies before it has had a chance to be fed properly to grow up to be able to produce the fruit of a ripe orange?

To some works-based people - you would have to display 50 oranges in order to prove you are a real orange tree ( saved ) - to others you need 100 oranges in order to be a proved orange tree. ( saved ) So, this fruit inspection thing is not viable ..that's for God to look at people to determine if they are in Christ or not.

A person could have love and kindness as a fruit in their life but be addicted to some pills or alcohol which they are continuing to struggle with in their life.

The people that don't have a struggle with alcohol ( or basically anything that they themselves don't struggle with in their flesh that others do ) will condemn the ones that do have these struggles in the flesh and declare they don't have the fruit and thus are not saved. This is Pharisee-ism at it's finest.

Does the orange tree stop being an orange tree even though it dies without having fruit that we think "proves" it was an orange tree to begin with?

What if Christians were like that? What if we fed them messages about the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness in Christ so that they could grow? Then they would produce an abundance of fruit because it would be the very life of Christ manifesting - without Him - we can do nothing - even "doing good works" that are pleasing to God.

I say let's preach and teach the grace of Christ in their lives so that they have the proper nutrients to grow up in Him!

Believers who are paying just a tiny bit of attention can spot those who are just blatantly acting like idiots while saying they are Christians.

We would have to be complete and utter morons not to "see" what the OP is describing.

It is the wolf in sheep's clothing that is DANGEROUS. Only doctrine in the believers soul can discern em. And OP's like this don't expose the most dangerous and destructive sneaky snakes.

99% of believer's can spot who the OP is describing the day or so after salvation. only about 1% can pick out the sneaky snake.

There is that name it and claim it "right thinking" and "right knowing" false teaching of Joseph Prince. You cannot "right think" yourself as born again of God's Spirit and saved. You cannot "imagine" yourself as chosen and anointed of God, God does the choosing and anointing and the sanctifying and the empowering by His Spirit, it's not "thinking yourself" that makes you perfect, this is all nonsense false WOF teachings. :)
