just as Adam disobeyed the command to guard the garden so the Israelites failed to obey the command to expell and /or destroy all tinhabitants of canaan. this trend continues even to this day, From the very beginning Yahweh desired that mankind would obey Him out of loving trust, but mankind decided to go about doing things his own way, the lack of trust in the one who created all things seems to be ever present in the hearts and minds of his people, from the very beginning Eve failed to trust the Fathers word and began to listen to the evil one... Adam in turn failed to put his trust in Him when the decicsion was made to eat of the fruit she had given him, then it continued as mankind began to search for other gods and put their trust in material things, as today the human heart contiuesly turning away from the source of life, untill steps had to be taken to prevent the human family from sinking so low that every heart was corrupted and the enemy of our souls would proudly proclaim that there was none who regaded Yahweh, but the Father in His infinite wisdom provided for this way before it began to happen, there has been and always will be a remnant, those whos hearts can never be wholey turned away from Him, however as all provision has been amply made for the restoration and redemtion of Mankind, we have a choice to make and as always our very lives hang on our dicision, we can choose the way of freedom or bondage, life or death, the choice is ours to make, and He has given us all we need to make an informed and wise dicision, the instructions contianed in his word shows us the way, all points to our great redeemer and king, however our resposnibility is to choose wisely, and as a just and righteouse creator He will leave us to the choice we make, this is why we must guard our gates just as Adam was commanded to guard the garden, just as Abram was commanded to guard the commands given, as as Israel was commanded to guard the land.
the first command given to mankind is found in Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: , however in the previous verse we read, Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. we see what Yahweh desired mankind to do, not just be idle but to work, the word renedered "dress" isעבד pronounced, aw-bad and actually mens to work , the word rendered 'keep" is the Hebrew word for guard , the strongs definition is:H8104

A primitive root; properly to hedge about (as with thorns), that is, guard; generally to protect, attend to, etc.: - beware, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep (-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch (-man).
we see by this definition Adam's reponsibility was to actually guard the garden, it is my opinion that had he done this every force of heaven would have been there to prevent the enemy from entering in the first place, however it may well be that mankind was allowed to be tempted or how would he really have made a choice to obey?, either way if the garden would have been guarded, Eve might have been warned in advance of the presence of the evil one and would have been less apt to be surprised by the Nachash.

next we see that Yahweh had preserved a remnant then as now, Gen 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.
even in those days the time of mans lives were beginning to be shortened and here a limit was set... Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Gen 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
why do you think it grieved Him? he saw the suffering sin was cuasing and how low mankind had gone... he had created mankind in His image and likeness and see what man had done with it, it greived Him.
Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Gen 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
as throughout all the preceeding generatioms there was always those who sought after Yahweh even in the darkest of times,
Gen 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
Gen 6:11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
once again mankind had failed to guard the way of righteousness and once again intervention was required, yet on mans behalf a way of redemtion was provided.
Gen 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
this covenent involved more then the fact their would no longer be a flood, for Noah it involved obediance and trust,
Gen 10:31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
these sons of Shem were the ones who were in a covenant relationship with Yahweh and of them there were a few fiathfull who never departed from the true way...
however it didnt take long before mankind once again failed to guard the commands and he began to trust once again in his own strength, instead of trusting and believeing yahweh.
Gen 11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
and as before maesures were taken to protect mankind from himself. you all know of the demise of the tower...

Gen 11:29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
yet through all this there still remained a remnant and choosen, amoung these was one who although tested and tried never once failed in obediance, trust yes but not obediance, Abraham was given the promise of the seed through which all the nations of the earth were to be blessed. he also was the father of many nations not the least of these was Israel, we see that even in the beginning the people of Israel lacked trust, they were fearfull to leave Egypt, and in the way after so great a deliverance ,they continued to lack trust. Are we any differant now? do we also worry about various things, bills and food or ministrey needs , we are being led through this wilderness and we too mumer and complain, seems this lack of trust regadless of ample and continued provision still persist, but He is calling us to embrace His power and promises, we must do things differant... we have the benifit of the examples given of mellinia of distrust, this generation is being called to stand, and stand we must. we read all through the scripture of the terrible result of lack of trust, it contiued with the nation of Isreal asking for a King... 1Sa 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
As mankind made this choice so the Father allowed them the result of it, yet still showed mercy, we all know of his mercy...
1Sa 13:8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
1Sa 13:9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
1Sa 13:10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.
1Sa 13:11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;
1Sa 13:12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
1Sa 13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel forever.
this breif account is the beginnig of the end for Saul, all he had to do was trust yahweh but he feared and relied upon his strength and acted in haste.
the sad accont in chaper 15 of 1st Samuel relates the account of how one who is chosen of yahweh and blessed can chose to be disqualified and lose all the blessings given. howeve Yahweh never forgwets his people and as always well provided for thier needs .
1Sa 16:1 And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.
1Sa 16:11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
1Sa 16:12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
the kingdom eventually became Davids, a united and strong kingdom, why? becuase David trusted and obeyed, but he too failed and it cost him and the nation a great deal.
The next king also trusted Yahweh in His early days as King.. but he too turned from the source of life and went about doing things his own way, Solomon was given wisdom greater then any other man, yet he too fell, wisdom alone is never enough, without trust and loving obediance all the wisdom in this world will never prevent one from falling victim to their own wicked heart.
if we continue to read the scriptures from this point we see a contuinual repeat of the same process, lack of trust, diobediance, and destruction.Eventually the nation of Israel was removed from their own land and even there Yahweh provided a faithfull remnant, Daniel and others continued in loving and righteous obediance through the fear of Yahweh, and mellinia later when the nation was ruled by a wicked and oppresive government He sent the promised blessing, and through lack of trust that led to pride and self andangrizment the leaders of the nation rejected the very one who was promised and looked for, however not all failed to guard, the commands were preserved and remain still today, although many refuse to reguard them, there is as was always a fiathfull remnant who through loving obediance and trust cling to Him who is mighty to save.. He lead each of us to where we are now, and we having more, more is required of us. we must guard our gates, the 5 senses through which we we live in this world, when we fail in any point to guard what we allow into our minds , our bodies, and our spirit, we become comprimised, and only through a continuel renewing of our minds can we reach the potentiel of perfection and holyness required to be a citizen of the glorious kingdom to come, but right now we each have a task, and when we allow compromise, its the ones who are around us who suffer , in this last days we must be ever vigelent and ever prepared to every good work, but most of all we must trust and obey, for theres no other way... Pro 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

It seems you and disciplemike are stuck in the Old Testament. You do know God has also given us the New Testament? Its because we are now under Grace that God has given us the New Testament. So why are you and disciplemike stuck in the O.T.?

Yes I am aware of the new covenant , where it is in scripture, who it is with, and what it means, I don't really understand why you think this post is promoting the OT only, did you read it? I really don't think you believe that in grace we are not required to obey our creator, you really do misunderstand what it is I do believe, maybe we can discuss this sometime like adults and children of the king.... I would be glad and honored to give answer for my faith if your willing to hear it, I respect you strong convictions as to why you believe the way to do as well, please understand I never wish to convince anyone to believe as I do, the Spirit leads and guides not me, and I also acknowledge there is sooo much I do not understand, if you feel I'm in error : come let us reason together.
