What is the most suitable definition of racism and how does it manifest in action?

Is it a sin requiring atonement?

Its a sin because God made everybody. They are all Children of God.

No not requiring atonement because Jesus has died for our sins. Just repent of this sin.

Would you mind answering my first question as well?

The first question is every bit as important as the second.

Especially these days when people are not really sure what racism is.

The lord detested many of the cultures and had the Hebrews overthrow them deeming them impure, such as the Canaanites. He even had them kidnap others wives and destroy even the children, and to burn every last thing to the ground. Does this make the Lord a racist?

Imo nobody asked to be born a certain race or color, God determined that. So I look at it not liking God's creation.

I think racism (prejudice) isn't limited to ethnicity but also social, economic, stereotyping etc. Making one group inferior as to seem superior. With the group who feels superior alone should have access to privileges, while the so called inferior group getting scraps.

It is not limited to black or white. Many other cultures suffer from it as well.

Interesting how you both identified a cultural component and took it in different directions.

Racism------
Being prejudice is normal--Part of our sin nature--- Everyone has some degree prejudice---Prejudice, like any sin can be suppressed and not allowed to influence our actions or beliefs.
Racism is when a person allows a prejudice toward someone of a different race, creed, or color, take charge of their actions or beliefs in a negative way.
Yes, it is sin.

Yes, it is sin.
Particularly when pride drives the prejudice. I would identify the pride as the root sin, however were I stressing repentance. I think that would be most evident on an individual basis.

If your name is Richard Dawkins, then it does.

I'm racist against pygmies. I always wonder if they're thinking about boiling me in a big pot of water and eating me. All pygmies are probably like that.

That's actually a pretty good point, maybe inadvertently made.

People equate recognition of savagery with racism.

God divided the races at the tower of Babel ... The current multi-culturalism agenda is clearly a attempt to reestablished that evil... The unity God intends for the races is not through man but through Christ and as a believer we should not see people in racial terms ..but in terms of Gods love. You cannot claim that the "world" is acting in the love of God when they are seeking one world government and multi-culturalism for the unity of man under the anti-Christ ...

I suppose racism is simply refusing to love a person, as yourself, because they are of a different race than you. I don't know exactly what you mean by "atonement." We need to repent of all our sin (and racism is a sin). I don't know that anything else is required.

Let's see.... people complain that Trump is rich, therefore, he must automatically respond in certain ways. But, I guess that isn't prejudicial because his color isn't mentioned, thereby keeping it out of the technical realm of racism. People even take from the Bible that all rich people are a certain way.
