Out of the blind, one who can see. Out of the illiterate, one who comprehends. Out of the deaf, one who understands. My wisdom and light will shine through the humble and lowly in this world.A learned man thinks he is wise in his own eyes. My spirit gives LIFE.... Do not let people distract you. Jesus is the light that will guide you through the darkness. Rest in him. If you have something to post that will bring someone to Jesus, Post on. Someone who needs that word will understand it.

First off, I am an English/Writing major (senior year, yay!), and some of the limitations you've placed on people isn't really justified. I understand the intentions, but some people may take it too strictly, and it would ruin an otherwise perfect post with unneeded things. Your second rule states that every sentence should end in a period. You've left off every other punctuation mark beyond that, not to mention things like colons, semi-colons, (, ; etc. I'm an English major, as I've already stated, and so I just tend to notice this a little more! That being said, I humbly agree with this post, because bad grammar and spelling is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I think it comes with the territory for anyone who plans on/is a teacher/writer.Also, your third rule should not be stated. I understand the need to break paragraphs apart, and thus to remove "walls of text" from posts (which are very hard to read), but the rule of five sentences per paragraph isn't really justified. While I understand that most people learn in their primary/secondary schools that you should always have five sentences per paragraph, that isn't really correct. While it doesn't hurt, it also would make some thought processes not make sense whatsoever if they were broken apart into different paragraphs, assuming they were part of the same idea. Also, some paragraphs absolutely NEED to be shorter than five sentences. Anyway, I'm saying all of this with complete respect for the original idea that you are creating. I'm just hoping that no one in these forums take your instructions as a strict word for word basis. Writing (at least in English) is an art form, and there are multiple ways of doing it, just like there are multiple ways to paint a painting. All of these forms should be appreciated for what they are, rather than restricted based on someone having a hard time reading. If a person cannot read a grammatically correct post, then the fault lies with them, not the poster. Just my two cents. I hope you don't take this negatively, because I'm just trying to help. |
