To feed the little monsters candy or no?

Scripture? What do you think that Jesus would do?

I'm sure that there are threads about it in other forums, but I wanted to know if you think the Bible says 'no'.

The word “Halloween” is a shortened form of “All Hallows’ Eve.”

It is often called “All Saints’ Eve” by Catholics and other churches who celebrate
it as part of a three-day observance for honoring saints and praying for

the “souls” of recently dead people.

-

But All Hallows’ Eve actually dates back centuries earlier than the founding of
the Catholic Church, or even the birth of Christ.

“The earliest Halloween celebrations [in Britain] were held by the Druids
in honor of Samhain, Lord of the Dead, whose festival fell on November 1?
(Ralph Linton, Halloween Through Twenty Centuries).

“It was a druidical belief that on the eve of this festival, Samhain, lord of death,
called together the wicked spirits that within the past 12 months had been condemned
to inhabit the bodies of animals” (Encyclopedia Britannica, 11th ed., Vol. 12).

These druids believed that All Hallows’ Eve was the night when the souls of
the evil people who had died during that year would leave the bodies of animals
they had been stuck inside and return to their former homes.

If food was not provided for them at these homes, they believed the spirits would
antagonize and cast spells on the residents. Many historians also say that, to
appease the evil spirits, the druids would also offer animal and even human sacrifices.

-

When the Catholic Church came onto the scene and began working to convert
the various civilizations of the world, it integrated many pagan observances into
its liturgy. By this method, the church was able to appease great numbers of pagans
and thereby gain more converts.

The Catholics first added All Saints’ Day to their observances in the year 609,
but it was celebrated on May 13. In 835, in response to pressure from Celtic
and Germanic peoples, Pope Gregory iv switched it to November 1

—the same day as the ancient Samhain festival.
A look into the Bible shows how outrageous it is that Halloween a
festival of darkness and death—was integrated into the liturgy of
a church calling itself “Christian.” a worlds powerfull church

“God is not the God of the dead, but of the living,” Jesus Christ said
“In [Jesus] was life; and the life was the light of men,” wrote the Apostle John.

Halloween’s themes of death and darkness are the very antithesis of true,
Bible-based Christianity. The spike in violent crimes surrounding this holiday
should be a wake-up call to any defending Halloween as “Christian”
or claiming that the holiday is harmless fun.

Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead:
but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

the Bible says to renew the mind. be holy bc He is holy. when I didn't know I could belong to a Kingdom and have a different life with blessing and goodness to look forward to, I did everything that the other lost and roaming souls did. looking for meaning and significance in traditions and parties and mimicked actions that are a shadow of what God gave His holy people to do.. He came up with all traditions and celebration. The enemy and the lost had to come up with their own to fill time and add significance to their lives.. the lost mirror and mimic everything Gods people do. Its truth revealing that God exists and they acknowledge it without trying... I choose not to substitute the truth for a lie. I find and receive no fulfillment in anything outside of Christ, so I choose to not take part... is it a sin to? im no the judge of that.

There it is! I was wondering when the 1st halloweeny thread was going to be put up!;)

I don't do halloween. The Bible says to have nothing to do with pagan traditions, and this definitely falls into that category.
Some people may say, "We can redeem the day for God and make it a chance to honor Him." Unfortunately, there's no Scriptural example for that. Can we use the day to glorify God and evangelize? Absolutely, but it shouldn't be done by participating in the traditions themselves.

Ephesians 5:11-12
"Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
12 for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret."

It's not such a bing thing here, and the kids mostly dress up rather innocently (as if it was a carnival) , so if we have something small and easily shareable I will hand it out, if not, I ignore the doorbell

I think Jesus would invite them in and talk to them
(of course... in today's society people would think you were up to no good if you did that)

We use it as a great opportunity to pass out gospel tracts. Imagine, people coming to your house to receive candy attached to a gospel tract. That tract can get into homes where I may not be able to get. That tract may be read and passed around to several people. That tract may be a blessing to believers coming by and may prompt a believer to awaken. We give tracts and leave it to God in prayer for the results.

In America the three most celebrated holidays are Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween. That means Halloween is more celebrated than Easter. We're freakin' doomed!

indeed willingly I am.. halloween candy yum yum hehe
My mother gives out candy so I dress up my dog and we greet the kids. She was a pumpkin one year and an angel last year. This year she's going as an ice cream sunday. I think my Shepard pup is too young to dress up yet but I may get her some horns, it suits her right now. She's a brat sometimes.

You do know that All Hallows Eve or Halloween or All Saints Day Eve is a Catholic Christian Holiday and not a pagan festival right?

On the other hand it could invite having eggs thrown at your house and having to clear it up

I purposely did not speak of Halloween because I feared the chaos it would bring with it to the forums as cc is not known to handle sensitive subjects well and has been known to be on the attacking side of those who celebrate halloween.

However I also wonder sometimes if I should celebrate it or not, I mean I cannot imagine Jesus having anything to do with the celebration of halloween but at the same time I think some people also go to far. Now there is a lot of history about Halloween there is of course the history about the druids but there is also a lot more to it than that, for instance Hallows eve is the night where dead apparently walk free and supposedly this is also the one and only time of the year that certain rituals can be done not just by witches or by satanists but others occults and other religions that have to do with very potent and dangerous spells and rituals. Apparently if you attempted to do this spells on any other day of the year it would backfire and horrific things unimaginable suffering would come upon you. The history and the purpose of Halloween is actually a very interesting subject to research I rarely find a topic so interesting to learn about apart from the bible.

Did you know that purpose of putting on a disguise or mask was actually formed because apparently there is a very dark and powerful dark being that cannot see you if you are wearing a mask like you are completely invisible to him and the jack o lanterns were something made to hold or seal in souls of all kinds good and bad
