The purpose of this OP is to be exhorted to give thanks to our Father for all things no matter what circumstance we are in. Please confine your posts to discuss this purpose so that we as the body of Christ can be edified and grow up in Christ Himself. Thank you.

THANK GOD ALWAYS!

Do you know that the Greek word for “thank” is charis, the same Greek word used for “grace”? So to be full of grace is to be full of thanksgiving. God wants us to give thanks always. Even when things don’t go well with us, we can choose to have a spirit of thanksgiving because He is faithful and able to work all things out for our good (Romans 8:28).

The thing about us is that there can be 10 good things happening to us, yet our human tendency is to focus on the one thing that is negative and fixate on it. We tend to look at what we don’t have, instead of thanking God for what we do have.

We need to understand that when we thank God for what we do have, even if it is only “five loaves of bread and two fish,” what we have will be multiplied. Remember what Jesus did before the five loaves and two fish were multiplied to feed more than 5,000 people? He gave thanks to the Father for the little that He had (Matthew 14:17–21, NIV).

My friend, cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving and graciousness, and keep it flowing today. Thank God for the parts of your body that are working fine. Thank God for whatever the amount you have in your bank account. Don’t focus on what you don’t have. Count your blessings every day. Thank Him for His presence and grace that make all the difference. Not only will you have more joy, but you will also experience His blessings and increase!

"A man who built a thousand bridges will be remembered most by the one that collapsed"

this tendency to fixate on the negative is fleshly, however the Spiritually discerning seek to give thanks in all things and places and edify others while being blessed themselves..... no matter what situation we are in we have immutable and sure promises from the ONE who holds all things in His mighty hand :)

One thing I have to say about Grace777x7 is I deem him one of the better posters, which Paul said he only wanted to know Christ, and Him crucified, for I can tell about prophesy in detail, not saying I can,be if I do,it is not essential for salvation, for the only thing you have to know concerning the end time is do not go along with the world when they come together, which is when they say Peace and safety, but the saints will not go along with it anyway, for God said the saints will not be deceived by that, and He will deliver them from the temptation that shall come upon the whole earth to try them, and it is not possible for the saints to be deceived.

We debate about many things, but not all are essential for salvation,so why debate harshly, for God will not say,you shall not enter My kingdom because you did not know the names of all the kings in Israel,or you did not understand exactly what would go down in the end time with great accuracy, which it is nice to know, but not essential. It is only essential to know their deception, and not go along with them, but you do not have to know everything concerning it.

If you believe the Gospel of Christ, believe that He is Lord and Savior, are led of the Holy Spirit, loving people, you will not fall in to deception, for if there is any deception it will go against those main ingredients, for when they say Peace and safety, their religious system says,Jesus is not Lord and Savior,so you will not follow it,or the new age movement, and their interpretation of the Bible, you will not fall for it,you will not fall for Jehovah's witnesses,or the Mormon Church,or anything that goes against the main ingredients for salvation.

So I like to know what the Bible states, but a lack of totally understanding some things will not hinder your salvation, and preaching the Gospel and uplifting Jesus is the most important thing to do,because the closer you are to Jesus the better you will be,and deception can never cause you to stumble, for you will know it is not of God,and not the way He operates.

I really like this discussion. I agree with you that thankfulness is such an important aspect of our spiritual walk. I think a lack of thankfulness and gratitude can lead us into more serious sins. I think of the Israelites in the wilderness that constantly murmured and grumbled. They seemed to forget all that God had done for them in bringing them out of Egypt. They were regularly in a state of unbelief.

I think another danger or pitfall is to constantly compare your worldy success or lifestyle to others. I think many people rob themselves of a happy life by longing for the blessings of others. I really like one quote I heard in the past " Comparison is the theif of Joy."

Thanks giving is the most appropriate response to the grace of our heavenly Father. To know that we were in Father God's mind way back before the world began is enough to be thankful all the time.

And to know that He didn't give up on His original plan when we missed up, is even a greater reason to give Him all worship, praise and adoration!

I agree. It is simple to spot those who focus on Christ from those who focus on the creature.

The constant drivel of ," are you doing enough? Are you realllllllyyyyy saved? have you cleaned up enough?" is tiresome to say the least.

And when we get posters around that say CHRIST DID ENOUGH!!! It is a breath of fresh air. And Grace777 is one of em.

Psalm 100:

1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

How many apply this spirit of thanksgiving when they get the bad report from the Doctor, one of their kids is addicted to drugs, the Church pharisees are attacking their character, they lose their job?

The verse says IN ALL THINGS give thanks...

I agree...that's where the rubber meets the road.

We don't thank God "for" it...we thank Him "in" it because He will somehow make a way for things to turn into manifesting His goodness and grace towards us all.

The battle of the mind occurs when the circumstances of life are screaming at us telling us that God's word is not true and that He is not there for us.

We have a good, good Father and a great awesome salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ. We have the greatest treasure there is - Himself.

I am reminded of Corrie Ten Boom's recounting of her sister's stay in a Nazi death camp. Her sister was thankful for all things... even the lice and vermin in the barracks. I won't spoil the whole story; it's in The Hiding Place if you want to read it. It inspired me to thank the Lord in the rather tame difficult circumstances of my life... as well as in the good times. :)

Taking the admonition seriously about counting all things joy (esp. trials), one day I wrote on a copy of a driving ticket sent by mail (camera caught me :() the word JOY in big letters and colored it. Having the joy visual, I put it out on the back of a couch where I had to pass it everyday.

It seemed so ridiculous that I had to smile whenever I saw it. So, counting it joy did bring some laughter to me. I just walked past it - looked at the $200.00 due, and said "joy". God did provide the money to pay this ticket, but he didn't get me out of it. Another joy.

It kept me from complaining. And it was funny.

Good things are blessings, the bad things are actually blessings in disguise so there is no reason to complain but trust and thank God always.

What you say here is really an important distinction. Rotten things can and will happen in this life but they are not sent by God. He is not the author of any evil. He is the One Who sent Jesus and He told us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world.

Because man has been given free will and all have sinned and come short of His glory., this world is dealing with the consequences of sin and some things will come upon us. Unlike the world, we believers have an Advocate and He is looking out for us and He answers our prayers. The people in the world without Jesus have no such Helper or source.

When evil comes, we can know for sure it does not come from our Father. But He does change the outcome of those things meant for evil to turn out to be for our good. It has been a major revelation to find out that those bad things in life do not come from the hand of God our Father.

He is not the author of confusion or double speak. His yes is yes and His no is no. And yet the promises of God are yes and amen!

But NOOO, it's not awesome, & it ain't tremendous, because it's not true. Saying we ought to give thanks to God is always alright, isn't it?
NO. If a Jehovah's witness says it, & quotes from "their Bible", it ain't worth a snap.
If a Mormon says it, & quotes from the Book of Mormon, it ain't worth diddly squat.

Why? Wrong books, as well as sinners saying something they don't know what they're talking about..... Not to mention their beliefs get glory & acceptance for it.

“Matt 7:15 Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16“You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn
bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17“So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18“A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20“So then, you will know them by their fruits.

once again, I know or care nothing about mr. prince. I liked this because, you know, it gave God glory, it was nicely written, and I think we should all thank God many times daily.

but as usual, nothing is good enough. everything has to be put under the denominational microscope, and unless it lines up with that doctrine, it is sin, wrong. maybe ya'll should come your religious high horse, and be happy to see God get thanks and Glory, not make arguments against it.

Please do not derail this thread. It is about giving thanks to our loving Lord because He is for us and we can trust Him in all things.

As far as the "Bereans" - here is what is said about the word "thanks".

The compound verb eucharisteō is formed by adding the suffix eu (2074), “good, well, kind,” to the verb charisteō, “to give freely, bestow a favor, gratify.”

Primarily it means “to give thanks.” The cognate charis (5320B), “grace, attractiveness, favor,” has been incorporated by New Testament writers into Christian thinking and has taken on the special meaning of “grace,” God’s gracious favor toward His own. The verb, occurring as early as the Third Century B.C., has the basic meaning of “to show someone a favor” and hence “oblige” (Moulton-Milligan). And because a favor deserves an obligation of thanks, the verb developed the meaning “to be thankful,” hence “to give thanks, return thanks.”
