Ok, without starting something mean or contentious.....I learned the other day that there are those who believe the earth is flat. I do not mock them nor discount them offhand but having been a commercial fisherman I have my doubts. If we could keep it civil I would love to debate this topic with any who hold that belief.

ok,,,,,, I'll bite

I don't think anybody actually believes the world is flat. Some of us might pretend to, as a joke, but it's pretty well established that the earth isn't flat.

No, there are people here who truly believe it. But I haven't been able to talk them into buying my 'beachfront' property yet ;)

Pretty sure it is flat. Even God said so and I do believe in the Word of God. (see my blogs x4).

I question the 'pretty well established thought'....WHY!!!! because they (they who) have told you all your life it is so. Who again is telling you this!.

I can poke holes in everything you can produce as so-called evidence, yet this is not the forum for such a conversation. I posted the blogs so that people could see the "Word of God" and the compare that to every bodies reaction in this forum. Nine times out of ten, they are going to tell you "well God meant to say this or God meant to say that". In actuality they want to hide it. They certainly don't want to talk about it for fear of being labeled a crazy or something. As a Fundamentalists I have been called worse, even threatened, etc.

If God tells you in multiple verses "the earth does not move" do you believe it or do you call him a Liar? Your choice!

I read the Bible Literally and was told when I came here to this forum and started this conversation; My rep power would go to zero(0). I can safely say that I will under no circumstances place my salvation in question because I can not or will not believe what God stated in his Divinely written and inspired book, The Holy Bible KJV , is the Truth.

I have been in Atheist forums, trying to take the Word of God to them and got about the same reaction here although here it is not hardly as bad. The problem I now have is that I have been here long enough and conversed with others on this forum about their beliefs, etc. and it is unbelievable. To debate over dates and times of history is one thing. To take the Actual Words of God and preach they mean something else than what HE said is really sad. Yet, that is exactly what is happening!

I guess I will probably get banned for this post and if that is the case so be it. I have enjoyed debating with you and have spent many hour researching questions or answers you have posted. But I am not sorry for believing, God's word is God's word and totally inerrant.

Your post is too long to read in its entirety (I am an old man with little patience), but I'll go along with you in that the earth does sort of seem flat, except when you're walking up a hill.

Round earthers:

Go out, get in your car......drive to a level spot on any road. Put the car in Neutral, let off the brake........IF YOUR CAR ROLLS FORWARD OR BACKWARD.......well, I guess the earth really IS ROUND.

BUT........if it JUST SITS THERE.............hmm...........

Lemme put it this way...........get one of your kids toy cars.......a basketball, volleyball, whatever.......put the toy car on top of it............see what happens........THAT is what happens when things is round. :)

Views of the roundness of our earth

Looks like the horizon is flat to me...Draw a circle on a flat piece of paper. At the top of the circle, place an "X". Now look left and look right. Does not the circle fall away from the "X". While on a flat piece of paper there are only two directions but on a sphere (ball), the ground would be falling away in every direction.

On a sphere, the horizon would be curved like those you see on those NASA pretty pictures of our earth.but you don't see the curved horizon on the ground????????Hum?

The Bible tells us the ground is flat in different passages. Here are three for thee to study.

Daniel 4:10-11 (KJV)..."10 Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great...11 The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:"

Matthew 4:8 (KJV)... "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;"

Revelation 1:7 (KJV)..." Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."

Remember,,,,, these verses are the "Word of God"

I've been taught since I was a boy that the earth is round, but I have to admit, I've seen little evidence of it.
