Various, in various periods of my life, but the last one I remember very well:

Psalm 91

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.

With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”

John 16:[SUP]33 [/SUP]These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

1 John 5:1
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him......[SUP]4 [/SUP]For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.[SUP] 5 [/SUP]Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Romans 8:
[SUP]31 [/SUP]What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?[SUP] 32 [/SUP]He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?[SUP] 33 [/SUP]Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.[SUP] 34 [/SUP]Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.[SUP] 35 [/SUP]Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?[SUP] 36 [/SUP]As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.[SUP] 37 [/SUP]Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.[SUP] 38 [/SUP]For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,[SUP] 39 [/SUP]Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I'll admit, these were not the immediate verses that had come to mind when I am in trouble, but they are helpful.

Psalm 23 & Psalm 121 had been a comfort at times in my life.

This Psalm below helps me when I had sinned and thus became disappointed & disgusted with myself.

Psalm 33:
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;[SUP] 19 [/SUP]To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.[SUP] 20 [/SUP]Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield.[SUP] 21 [/SUP]For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.[SUP] 22 [/SUP]Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

But Psalm 37 is the Psalm that helped calm me down when I have been offended, defrauded, or made sick that I wanted revenge. I do so hope in the Lord to continue to carry me all the way Home above.

Why are you in despair, O my soul?
And why have you become disturbed within me?
Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him
For the help of His presence.

(Psalm 42:5, 42:11 & 43:5)

did you ever wonder why this same refrain is repeated 3 times in two consecutive hymns ?
i think maybe our 'despairing souls' often need some reminder :)

I find the worse my circumstances, the more I like to immerse myself in Scripture. All of the Word

A verse that stood out to me when I was still in school was John 6:37 where Jesus said: All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.( NIV) I held onto this verse during the time I was afraid God would send me to hell and was constantly asking Jesus to save me.

A verse that comforts me now is Psalm 34:22: The LORD redeems the soul of his servants, and none of those who trust in him shall be condemned.( NKJV) The way I think of this verse is that those who trust in Jesus for salvation will not be condemned.

If this counts, my favorite Scripture is actually a phrase in Scripture. "I am the Lord your G-d".... (Isiah 41:13, Exodus 20:2...).

There have been many times in my life, that were hopeless in my eyes, that I would cry out I need You to be G-d, my G-d!!!!

See I need the Master of the universe, the one Who created the world(s) just by speaking, Who has all power and authority, the Earth is His footstool.

And He has never let me down. My loving Father, bestest Friend, becomes, in my mind, what/who, He is G-d- my G-d!!!
