This is a two parter here.
First,
I was and still am interested in why the scape goat is given in Leviticus 16:7-10.
I understand sacrifices, but giving atonement by sending the second goat of to satan is
the question I have. So if any can enlighten, Id appreate it.

Second,
I was praying about a sorrow in my life last night, asking God why there is no healing yet for these that I love.
Well I recieved the answer, a scripture, sorry I cant quote it exactly, Three times I prayed and three times I recieved no answer, then the Lord said , My grace is sufficient for you.
Needless to say I was not satisfied with this answer, as I questioned how do I continue with these that bring me so much sorrow.
Im not going to say alot about what these do, but they suffer from a generational sin that affects everything and all in their lives. Lately the actions of these has begun to affect me, not just in sorrow but I began to see how I was beginning to see defeat in everything as they do. Also they often have used me as the scape goat of their actions. I could speak out against them but I know that if I did , the healing that has begun in their lives might be damaged.
Yet last night Jesus helped me see just how much I had become a scape goat for them, not just worldly, but also spiritually.
I struggled as to what to do, I also struggled with the why of it all.
I do not want to bring harm to them just to free myself of their actions.
Jesus has put it on my heart to keep loving them, but I told God Our Father , I was not happy about it all. In fact I was rather ornry about it all.
Then I saw these words; Hebrews 12:11-12 At the time it is administered, all discipline seems a cause for grief and not for joy, but later it brings forth fruit of peace and justice to those who are trained in its school.:
I began to see that I was a scape goat because I was pridefull, I believed it was up to me to be the scape goat. The pain I suffered was God Our Father impressing on me that in him, I should not be the scape goat, he sent the scape goat off into the dessert.
My pain was due to the fact I failed to give all of the sorrow to him, to praise him in all that is in my life.
Praise is a powerful weapon, a powerful gift to all of us. Because it is in praise to God Our Father that we give everything!
I praise in Jesus, God Our Father. Because through His Holy Spirit he disaplined me, then as I praised Him, He humbled me, as I praised Him, He took my sorrow, as I praised Him, He lifted me up!

So if you find yourself the scape goat, or wondering why you are in so much spiritual pain.
Give praise to God Our Father, because all in praise is to acknowladge His greatness, his power, his disapline, :D and most importantly his great love for each of us.
He will send the scape goat running.

God bless, pickles

Sister, we all suffer from pride. Sometimes I feel that I do most of all. But this I can say about this situation; Whatever you carry in this way is carried by our Lord as well. Every tear we shed is a tear that He sheds also. Every hurt we endure is a hurt that He endures with us. When we are in Him, it is that He is in us also. The sufferings of Christ are not full, and we are filling them up in this life, because they are for Him, and He in us knows and endures them with us. This is one of the greatest callings we can have. The more sorrow, the greater the joy.

But also, love that is in an environment of peace and perfection does not grow, and can even grow smaller. But love in adversity that is love from God grows as we seek Him to endure. His love bears all things.

In His perfect love,

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness
Therefore I will boast all the more abnout my weaknesses so that Christ's power may rest on me.
That is why for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak then I am strong. 2Cor12:9&10

I thought it may help from what you have written to finish the quote of Paul on this

I believe praise in hard situations is the highest form of faith, especially when we praise God for the most difficult of circumstances and situations. It is not easy to do, but I know you have said you do this. Such acts of faith will always be rewarded. Nothing I believe pleases God more than us trusting him, and praising him when we are treated unjustly and we cannot with our natural minds see any reason to rejoice.

Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1Thes5:16

I would not write these verses in response to everyone, but as you do rejoice and praise God in all situations I believe it is appropriate. I believe that God will use your praise at this time of being treated unjustly to bring you even closer to Him, and to experiance peace that many fail to find.

Pickles,

I will try to explain as best I can.

The first goat was offered as a sin offerng and was burned on the altar. The second goat was designated as a scapegoate and its purpose was to carry away the sins of the people. (the goat was a representation of the coming Christ) Its purpose was for atonement. The first was for sin and the second for atonement which means to cover up. The priest (Aaron) would lay his hands on the goats head and confess the sins of the people. The goat would then be turned loose into the wilderness "to carry away" the sins of the people. Both goats were required to be blemish free (innocent), Lots were cast so that God could decide which goat was which.

You can see the representation of Christ in this ceremony but the ceremony had to be repeated, Christ was God's final scapegoat. He was without sin and yet our sins were laid on him and he was banished for three days.

The scapegoat is often used by worldly people as a way to transfer accountability to someone else. They put the blame on someone else so they can be free of blame. This is often practised in corporations. It usually falls on the most innocent person.

I hope this helps a little.

In Christ,
John

That was wonderful pickles, thank you for sharing. For reference, the scripture you were referring to is 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 [ESV]:
So to keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

I too wonder about the scapegoat sent into the wilderness. Why was it necessary? Why did God let a demon roam about in the wild, and why did it need to be satisfied?

Thankyou lbg, for finishing the scripture. I always struggle trying to find it again. Im getting better though. My poor bible is so full of note papers that if not picked up just right you will have a mess to pick up.
Praise in all things, my hope and prayer is that all will learn and see this. God Our Father is so close when you do this, that you end up with tears of praise!

Thankyou John, your words confermed what I thought. It does open a huge door to understanding.
What amazed me was being shown the spirit of this sin and its effects.
I am so greatful to Jesus for what he has done and still does for us.
Thankyou for your help.

Hi socperkins, I liked Johns answer on the sending of the goat, I agree though, one has to wonder at Gods greatness.
Thankyou for finishing the other scripture, It seems it is repeated several time s in the bible. I do believe I saw it as well in the OT.
I am glad the rest is here to read. Pride is my big fear, its a comfort to know God Our Father will make sure we wont fall to it.
Thankyou and God bless, pickles

The Sacrificed Goat - A Symbol of Jesus Christ

The blood of the sacrificed goat was taken by the high priest Aaron and sprinkled on the atonement cover, or mercy seat, of The Ark of the Covenant inside The Most Holy Place of The Tabernacle in the Wilderness once per year on the Day of Atonement (Leviticus 16:15-17). This depicts the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, our "High Priest" (Hebrews 8:1) entering The Throne Room of God to make atonement for humanity once for all time (Hebrews 9:23-28).

The Scapegoat - A Symbol of Satan

The scapegoat was not killed, just as the spirit Satan cannot be killed. Instead, all of the guilt of the people was symbolically placed on the head of the scapegoat, who was then taken out into the wilderness and released (Leviticus 16:21-22).

This goat represents the condemnation of Satan for the Satan-inspired sins of all humanity, and his being put away in a spiritual wilderness (Revelation 20:3,10). The sending of the Azazel goat out into the wilderness as done by the Old Testament high priest after he returned from inside The Most Holy Place of the Tabernacle is a ceremonial "preview" of Jesus Christ sending Satan into the abyss which will be done after His Return from the Throne Room of God The Father.

The original meaning of scapegoat was escape goat, the goat that was allowed to "escape" with its life. The accepted modern meaning of scapegoat, someone who is punished for the wrongs of others, is not at all accurate for Satan. He is as guilty as guilty can be, and he deserves everything that's coming to him.

Bind and break the generational curses. Say no more. Draw a line of blood around all of your family. Rejoice and keep rejoicing that your family turns to God most high. When you get upset then you are slowing things down. You must learn to rejoice through all times. Makes things go faster.

Hi Pickles,

It is interesting that you put the two questions together because they clearly go together. This section of Lev 16 starts out talking about the something that had happened 6 chapters earlier, the deaths of Nadab and Abihu for their sin of bringing unauthorized fire. If ever there was someone who should have had a bad attitude, it was Aaron, who had just lost his sons. Instead of allowing him to dwell on what had happened to his family, God institutes the use of the scapegoat. He also establishes this as an annual event, known as the Day of Atonement.

It is easy for Christians to dismiss this solemn feast day because we have our messiah who serves as our high priest as well as our scapegoat and sin offering. However, what is often overlooked is the time that falls between the first day of the seventh month which is Feast of Trumpets and the tenth day which is Day of Atonement. During this time, we are to spend our time in introspection. Focusing on our lives and where we might have fallen short of what God would have us do. After these Days of Awe, we then spend twenty-four hours in total focus on God. We do not even take the time to eat. If we come to God with a contrite heart, then our sins will be carried away.

Sure, we can anytime ask for forgiveness and do not need a special day. However, doing it on a day when everyone around you is doing it has a different impact. It seems to reinforce that God listens to us.

You are so right. untill I read of the scapegoat it had been no more than a catchfrase, since reading about it I have seen so many applications and understandings in scriptures.
One can trully gain much in a commitment to reading all of the Bible.

I understand your drama. Many of us are going through hard times. Its how you react. You said you are rejoicing through this bad time. Its plain the hard times are right in your face. Its very important for you to have a happy attitude no matter what is happening.

Lets say a person works with little children who are dying around them all the time. Of course you would feel sorrow in your heart. But you would still need to have a happy face in front of the children to lift them up.

You can't let what is around you let you fall into the miry clay. You must be determed. You must be of good cheer. And very important is everytime you are getting upset then know it is because you took it back from the Lord. The Lord does not want you all upset. You are to rest in the Lord. Lean on Him and know He is working on the problem.

He may have to send angels to 1000 people to get one person saved, which is the one He wants to talk, to one of the people around you. All the whole time the devil is right there at work trying to stop any of it.

Pickles with the way the Lord is talking to you, you are being trained to be in the army of God. The Lord is watching you to see how you react. If you will stand firm or if you will fall.

The Lord is watching to see how you do so He can know if He can use you in these end times when the war is going to get much worse. The Lord is working on many people He wants to come to His Kingdom. He is working on their hearts. When He has prepared them enough He needs to send them to people on this earth so they can be used by God to bring them to the Lord.

Pickles most times the people around you won't come to the Lord by you. The Lord will send others to them. In Jesus' own hometown He could no healings because they wouldn't excet Him.

What is most important is for you to stand firm on the rock. And know that know that you know the power of God is at work for you. And to have a happy heart no matter what.

God keep you!

Thankyou loveschild for your good words. I do work to remain cheerfull. But I sometimes wonder if I should take a stand. I considered this but saw only more harm.
I felt God Our Father give me the choice to leave these ones, I did not have to continue the relationship with them. But I knew that He wanted to continue in faith.
One person has accepted Jesus in the last month, still several to go. My hope and prayers are that Jesus will be witnessed to for them.
I agree about the home town and family, rarely do those that are close see .
As you said all I can do is pray and give all to God. He is good to rest in.
It is good to have all our brothers and sisters here though, keeps me in line. smiles.
It has given me joy to see Jesus work in your life and others here. A great witness in all keeping the faith!
Thankyou and God bless, pickles
