A couple of weeks ago, my pastor gave a children's message in which he said that Jesus was our brother. His rationale for this was because Jesus is the Son of God and we are God's children, Jesus must be our brother.

This seems a bit skewed to me. Jesus is my King, Jesus is my friend, Jesus is my Savior, Jesus is my Redeemer, Jesus is my bridegroom, but I don't consider Him my brother. My thought has always been that we are God's children because we are the bride of Christ -- kind of like sons- and daughters-in-law. We are adopted, so to speak.

What say you? I can't find any biblical evidence that would support "Jesus is my brother," but perhaps more learned folks here can show me.

Thanks!

Matthew 12:46-50?

As Jesus was speaking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to speak to you.”[SUP]g[/SUP]

Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!”

Hebrews 2:11
Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

Are people willing to call him brother as well?

Jesus is multi-faceted to us. He is the Alpha and the Omega - the beginning of everything and the end too.

Jesus Christ is Spirit and Truth. He isn't a mortal man so we don't have to discern him by man's terms. We envision Jesus with our heart. He is our All in all, Lord, Father, Brother, Husband, Friend, Servant, Advocate, Shepherd, Mighty Counselor, Prince of Peace, King of kings, Refuge, Tower of Strength, Mighty God, etc. As Grace777x70 posted, the Alpha & Omega.

and He is also the one in prison - the one who is hungry - the one who needs clothes - the one who is sick. He said so, "Whatsoever you do for the least of these, you have done unto me".

"I was hungry and you fed me not"... etc.

Yes Jesus is our Brother...the Bible says so in Romans 8.29

Romans 8.29
[SUP]29 [/SUP]For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;
