The Happiness of Those Whose Help Is the Lord

146 Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord, O my soul!
2 While I live I will praise the Lord;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

3 Do not put your trust in princes,
Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His spirit departs, he returns to his earth;
In that very day his plans perish.

5 Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever,
7 Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners.

8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous.
9 The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.

There is nothing more powerful than praising God through adversity.
Some of us here have struggles and troubles while others are literally heart broken.
Be it great or be it small we can take joy that we serve a God of the impossible.
I would like to spiritually hold the hands of my brothers and sisters here and abroad and in one accord start praising our Lord for he is good. He hears the cries of his people. He delights in mercy, he inhabits the praises of his people.
He is the comforter of our soul, our rock in which we stand.

"I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments." (Psalms 119:7)

Until then many will continue to praise Him not rightly.

We all need to learn and practice praising God in everything. Every situation. There are a lot of saints that sing when contentment , or gladness is found which is good for we should bless the Lord in thanksgiving.
But when the light seems to dim and our hearts are heavy and troubled, when our prayers seem like lead balloons and our outlook seem contrary to his promises we need to praise him even more.
In my minds eye I see me under a cloud and the Lord is the sun. I keep calling on his name and sing to let him know where I am. Not that he doesn't but to let him know where I am.
He does not forsake us nor leaves us unattended. Our Shepard is forever watchful. He means us no harm.

Thank you for those kind words of encouragement from David

Here are a couple wonderful promises from David that lifts my heart when I am really down"

Psalms:34:18: The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalms:51:17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

To my heart this is the ONLY way one will come to Christ. Those who have the prosperity have a much harder time finding it in their heart to depend on Jesus for anything. My heart weeps constantly for God's people today. Jesus is coming soon and many are not ready.

Psalm 56:8, "You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?"
