Does turn the other cheek pertain to physicality only or does it also pertain to restraining our tongues from verbally retaliating?
Matthew 5
38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

It's a physical turning of the cheek so the person can strike the other. Take it literal. If not, then we can make Scripture say whatever we want.

The point being stressed here is how Jesus Christ, Who satisfied all of the law for you, for me and for all who believe Him, teaches against one of the laws in Leviticus.

He is teaching not to obey this law, rather show mercy and grace. He teaches we should turn the other hceek. I believe Him because it seems absolutely correct if I hope to remain forgiven............ If we show mercy and love we will receive the same..

Eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth means ONLY an eye for an eye and ONLY a tooth for a tooth otherwise we'd be constantly escalating the scale of retribution.

This response is glib, and it may be humorous to some, but Jesus Christ does not teach this.

If your brother sins agains you seven times seventy times and he asks for forgiveness always, you must forgive him.

It is certain you, like all flesh, have something in your walk you find yourself constantly asking forgiveness for.

No on else is any different, except the One Who has been perfect fo us. Praise our blessed Jesus, amen.

Once you run out of cheeks to turn, the rules change.

We only have two you know.

As the Lord says in Romans 12:19 - Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

I haven't read through all the posts but to answer the OP..

Jesus said right before all that that unless our righteousness exceed that of the Pharisees we would not enter in. Then goes on to say what He means.. You have heard..... But I tell you.....

This is exactly how the Holy Spirit guides us.. We exceed the law not follow it bc it saves no one
Righteousness exceeding that of the Pharisees means we are to have faith in Jesus, which the Pharisees did not have.

I believe it's more than a physical turning of one's cheek. It pertains to changing our hearts to be Christ-like.
