Lol asante..im guessing you guys speak Africaan down there and not Swahili yeh?
I speak Afrikaans as a first language, but being from Auzzie I recon you are also fluent in it :p (with so many of us there ;)).

No Swahili is not one of our languages. The most prominent one in South Africa is Zulu and then fanagalo which is like a mixture of all the black languages.

This is a hard one. When i first was introduced to my current church, they were using leavened bread "a loaf" and breaking it off as it was passed around and wine (leaven is used to ferment wine) and I refused to take communion because I was scared. in fact. a few weeks later, I ended up leaving that church, Then my wife kicked me out so she could move in her boyfriend and I left church and God for 5 years..

I still have struggles I went back to that church, (my home church uses an unleavened loaf not wafers, and offers wine and grape juice) but at our main building, they still use a leavened loaf. and I still struggle because it was somethign I was taught as a child and it was strictly adhered to in fear.

However, I know this.

I am not dead. Nor is anyone else. So while the symbology is there, I think it is more important to realise what it represents (the cross) then what ingredients are used.

It is one of those issues where I would not judge what you do.

Here's me thinking the Kingdom of God is not about food and drink. We get together and eat in memory of Him, as e-g above stated, no judgement in what you choose to do but if we follow this line, does that mean we can only have bread and wine when we get together?

I hear what your saying as well as breno....and still the questions I posted above are not answered...

Every practice given by God has guidelines and prescribed practice...do we have the scriptural latitude to change any element, step or guideline in any matter when God has set forth exactly how to do it...?

Like, no God, I know you done it this way, but I am gonna do it my way.....

I see what you're saying bro. I guess I personally never saw a guideline there, the meal is the importance rather than what's taken. We sit down and eat with whom we love, it's the fellowship which matters most, unless of course you are being fed sardines and sarsaparilla hahaha

Yeah I don't know....as far as the wafer...I have never seen the wafers being used...most of the time unleavened bread was baked and used....and that is my main point...When it comes to the institution of a particular ordinance by God, we as servants have no spiritual grounds to change it or embellish it....the main question is..do we use unleavened and or leavened bread?...when Jesus called for his disciples to prepare the Passover the Greek word used is leavened bread<--when Jesus broke the bread....since the O.T. points forward to the sinless sacrifice of Jesus is had to be represented by the concept of being unleavened (sinless)....yet in the N.T. we look back to the sinless taking our sin upon him and becoming sin for us...maybe that is why he used Leavened Bread....because it ties Jesus who was UNLEAVENED (sinless) as becoming LEAVENED (OUR SINAPPLIED) as our sacrifice for sins.......

That is what I am pondering........!
D I'm 99% sure Elin (not here anymore) made a really cool thread that prolly has the answer in it.
Leviticus (I think she called it)...no doubt it'll come up
I've saved it to my hard-drive (14 pages)
it's the most amazing thing ever, goes into the typologies.
find it! be blessed!

====================================================

do we each have the knowledge of what Jesus' food and drink is? in our own personal lives?
definitely Not until Conversion, and it is still a unique blessing to each of us in our own way/walk that
we are connected to Him...and this is only the 'beginning or our brand new Holy calling...

I believe that Jesus used unleavened bread, and wine during the last supper. I believe each has a symbolic meaning. The wine, or fruit of the vine, represents his blood, and ties in with so many scriptures that portray Jesus as the vine, with us as the branches. This is a key principle, or description of how we are all tied together, and to God.

I don't think we should substitute anything else for those emblems... although I'm sure there are countless types of unleavened bread that could be used, just as there are many variations of the fruit of the vine that could be used.

As to the notion of people dying because of taking "unworthily"... what does that word mean to you? Over time, I have read and re-read that passage, and in context, it appears that taking communion without "discerning the body" is in reference to how the church at Corinth was partaking in their love feasts. They were not waiting on everyone to be there before starting, and they were over-indulging in the wine, to the point of getting drunk. But, reading the scripture, I believe the BIG issue was, not having all the "body" present when partaking... they were not discerning the body of Christ... the CHURCH.... and in this way, they were partaking unworthily. We are to examine ourselves, as members of the body, and partake as a body in remembering Christ.

The Lords supper is a picture of the wedding feast in heaven, thus the "upper room".

Note "Passover"
Moses was commanded to cook the lamb whole, with entrails.

Interesting that Jesus has the ability to eat

Our Savior wasa not implicated in any sin. The Bread represented Him, it was unleavened.

Beware the leavening of the Pharisees......

It is obvious that the O.T. points forward to the cross and the N.T. points back to the cross....

The unleavened bread of the O.T. pointed to the sinless sacrifice of the Messiah and it is clear from scriptures that Jesus never sinned....

The bible is also clear when it states that he became SIN for us and took our sin upon him as he hung upon the tree...

When the Lord instituted the last supper, the Greek word used for bread is leavened bread.....

My question is....The unleavened bread pointed to the sinless sacrifice to come....is IT POSSIBLE that the LEAVENED bread used by JESUS at the institution of the Lord's Supper POINTS back to him becoming SIN for us and TAKING our SIN upon himself?

And if this is the case....IS it wrong to use leavened bread when we partake of the Lord's Supper?

THESE are QUESTIONS...........SO....LOOK the words up and then tell me your view before you ASSUME anything.

True. But if our salvation is not based on it, I wouldl not set it in stone. As paul said, Some people eat and some do not. Some people sets one day aside, Some set every day aside, DO not let your brother judge you.

That is the point (even if it is hard, still is) I must take.

ie. I am not sure you will get an answer until we meet God and ask him..lol

The natural law was a shadow of things to come which was to be revealed and fulfilled spiritually. The sign of keeping unleavened bread out of your house was not about natural bread at all, but rather staying sincere keeping mans leaven of false doctrine and hypocrisy out of your own house (heart/mind) prior to the Passover Lamb being killed. This sign of the leaven was confirmed by both Jesus and Paul, here is a old post I made on the topic---->>>>
How much leaven does it take to leaven the whole Lump? Some believe they can leaven their lump with as much leaven as they wish, and still be unleavened. But others who truly understand know a little leaven can leaven the whole lump.

Matthew 16:6 “Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

Matthew 16:11-12 “
How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the
leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.”

Galatians 5:7-9 “
Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?
[SUP]8 [/SUP]This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.[SUP]9 [/SUP]A little
leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

1 Corinthians 5:6-8
“Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that
a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?[SUP]7 [/SUP]Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:[SUP]8 [/SUP]Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

Concerning discerning the Lords body, His flesh is meat and His blood is drink---->>>>>http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/106290-bread-life.html

To have been near any leavening during the days of Passover celebration is an infraction of the law directing the celebration as delineated in theWord, pre-crucifixion of course.

I attempt to share what I understand. If this is uncalled for, then I am terribly guildty and I apologize.

He became sin for us and took our sin upon himself is clear...I never said he sinned.......so your last statement was uncalled for!
