Calvinism is another great heresy polluting the Church to this very day.

It is very cranky, but if you ever hear of it, steer clear!!

It is full of false tenets, probably the worst of which is that some people are predestined to the eternal flames of Hell.

Generally speaking you are unlikely to find a proponent of this doctrine today, but it still percolates into some people's thinking.

Why sad?

Seems you have something against that title. Do they deny the grace of Christ giving themselves over to a damnable heresy? Remember not all opinions (heresies) are damnable.

2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily "shall bring in damnable heresies", even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Do what you call Calvinist deny the grace of Christ? Or would it be more like the heresy Paul described that he followed .Believing all things written in the law and the prophets? (sola scriptura) .

What the difference between what they believe and you?

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.But this I confess unto thee, that "after the way which they call heresy", so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:Act 24:13

Well, I dont know if you can call me a calvinist, because I am not a member of any calvinistic church, but I am reformed and I believe in predestination.

Predestination does not mean that people are not guilty.

God does not predestine people to God to hell . He has mercy and therefore grace on "as many" as the father gave him .

The key is how many? Which is not universal-ism.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Those who he does not love he does not rebuke.

alatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Not all that sprinkle water on ones skin, just the many .

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Those not led by the Spirit are not sons of God.

Romans 2:12 For a
s many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to
as many as thou hast given him.

Not one more.

John 8:30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.

Only the ones that did believe as Christ gives the faith to make it possible. .

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

The ones that received His it came form his authority .The many who did not believe did not recieve power.

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom f
or many.
His ransom was not for the others, just the many that did believe.

Yet, you call yourself Spurgeoncy?

Or is it some kind of a joke, that you chose that name, in honor of heretics?
Heretics deny the grace that bought them. Spurgen and Calvin are dead no longer having any part here under the sun . We are not to have the living faith of Christ, the faith of God in respect to them. That would constitute necromancy (communing with the disembodied spirits.

while I may not "Like" The fatalistic view of calvanists.

They are my brothers and sisters. They receive salvation by grace. so I will not condemn them.

And to start a thread calling them heretics is pretty nasty n my view, If you want to discuss it is one thing, but to damn a whole group of people. Thats just not right.

It is an amalgamation of the names of:

the football team Spurs, the rapper G, and the singer Beyonce.

Any likeness to a 19th Century preacher is purely incidental.

Nope. I can't tell if you're serious or not. This is, obviously, a light subject to you and may have only been started to spark an argument. Whatever it is, I'm out.

One question: Does God predestine?
Absolutely! Biblical predestination is a beautiful doctrine. God predestines those who are in Christ. Once in Christ, the believer is predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ which is the adoption. It's a future thing. Biblical predestination is NOT God predetermining those who are in Christ.
