So Im basically looking for some closure on this subject.

When I was 5 years old the first church I ever started attending was lead by A female Pastor. I was a regular for about 10 years. The pastor and My grandmother were best friends and she Preached at her funeral when he passed tragically.
I was saved at this church and witnessed many life changing things.

To me she was called. The absolutely incredible ways I would see God move through our church services and the amazing ways she would minister to us and help us really never made me doubt here calling. She was and still is my biggest inspiration as far as everything I hope to be one day.

So after reading that you can now imagine how hard it is to read passages like 1 Timothy 3- "The Husband of One Wife"
and 1 Tim 2:12 "I do not permit a women to teach nor have authority over a man"
And I also read about the Women Prophets of the Old testament like Miriam and others. And also places that speak of women prophesying.

I've had people tell me that the one I look up to the most is a false teacher because she is a women leading a church. That hurts my soul to hear things like that but I never want to argue the Scripture.

What is your take on the subject? Would you doubt someone's calling despite all of the wonderful fruit they produce?
Is our understanding of these passages wrong? Let me know what you think please.

This is the church and The Pastor I am referring to. --> Stephanie Taylor: Jesus Saves the Stripper | CBN.com (The pastor comes in later, not stephiane)

If you do a study on that verse you will see that he was talking like that because of the situation that was in the churches. There were heathen women preaching false doctrine and bickering with their husbands on full display even arguing and interrupting the pastor.
There are also pastors and preachers in the bible to were great leaders..Aqua and Priscilla even saved Pauls life which he addressed in a whole chapter in romans somewhere. I dont remember which :p
It is a fact that woman can pray, preach, etc. when they are appointed by God. God calls everyone. There is no male nor female before God.

Get ready for people to go nuts.. this is a veeery controversial topic

God uses anyone he chooses, male or female... also you were 5- 15 so not even technically a man yet.. and one other thing, some men just cant stand to see a woman of God moving in power, some people are just haters, and you should just ignore them when they start talking trash... I see it this way, she led you to Christ, you have fond memories of this person, and you respect her...
However on the flip side i do know of some woman pastors that should not even be pastors... One in particular that i am talking about pretty much is not God led, and she has pretty much feminized her entire audience.. you might be able to find her on youtube if you look around, but i wont point any fingers lol.

Well, as Demi said it is controversial. You will find topics for both. And it i as Demi said no male ore woman before god! But I believe that God has given both different tasks! It is difficult to have a ship with 2 captains. Also it is difficult for a man to deliver a baby. It has his reasons why God is not allowing woman to rule about man. Its not the reason of that the woman is not able to do that. Ore a woman is less worth than a man. The main reason you find in genesis 2 and 3.
In genesis 2 you find that God createt the man before the woman and bible is given this as reason why a woman is under the authority of her man. 1. Corithians 11,3;
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

And in genesis 3, 16 you found that it is the consequence of the sin of eva.
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you.

And Paul uses in 1. Tim. 2, 12-14 these two reasons why a woman should have no authority over man.
But I permit not a woman to teach, nor to have authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

A pastor has authority! I know to teach this today is very unhealthy

Sorry i was not finnish with my writing!

.. also in the churches. But for me is the word of God is more important then the time spirit.
Of course the Lord can bless a woman pastor, so as he can bless us all, although our weaknesses and sinful life. But from a scripture I believe somebody is more blessed if he/she obeys His word!!!

well said I see you point and after u added the rest, I agree. I think when it comes to ministry all in all, God doesnt make a differnce as that mainly depends on the character and gifts he gave that person (for some reason ppl think they can appoint and anoint themselves, i disagree. God calles people into offices and not the people)
Now of course woman and men do have generally in the more physical manner have a different role in relationships etc. as u stated the MAN is the head of the household. then the woman is the head of the children. Woman have roles and men :p SO all in all we all arent as multitasking as we would like to be lol
I dont agree with all that eve deceived kauderwelch that keeps getting brought up.. Adam could have said no and he didnt. He didnt take his responsibility so in the end, both failed. But like said its a big topic and I think we can agree to disagree in a few points.. its not like its the first. :p

Sorry i was not finnish with my writing!

This is the crunch time when you decide if you believe in the Word of God or you believe in the thinking of men of today's society.. It should be an easy and clear thing to make a decision to believe the Word of God.. But many people are loyal to their culture / family / nation / denomination.. So they keep asking for what they want to hear.. Some man made interpretation that can twist plain and clear scriptures to make them say the exact opposite of what they actually say..

I personally have no problem with a woman leading a church. As long as the message of the scriptures is being spread to the lost & leading them to Christ that's all that matters. It's refreshing seeing a woman spread the word opposed to a man all the time imo. I'm sure there are women with more spiritual wisdom & qualified to preach than most men pastors today.

Warning: I'm the contrary voice.

Eph. 5:22-33

I think there is godly wisdom in those verses. Men and women have preset natures in their gender. It is in our nature to be in control. I think this is true or who is running the house? How do you raise kids without a bit of a bossy gene in you? How can keeping the home in any kind of order happen without the female take on Da Rulz of Da House? AND, it's done with the preset of love. Women have a nurture gene. It's not a bad thing that women can be a bit managerial and nurturing.

And, in like kind, men need to get along in the world without necessarily loving who they're getting along with. This works for them in the workplace. It works for them with projects that require more than two hands.

This is our nature.

BUT God, being God, he also demands we get out of our nature too, to trust in his supernature. So he turned this on its head and asked us to do what isn't in our nature, to push into us more of his supernature.

So, in marriage, women are to give over the authority to their husbands. It is hard. It isn't natural. And in marriage, men need to step up on the love. Turn it from a noun to a verb. It is hard. It isn't natural.

What's that got to do with the church? God is family. Marriage is family. Church is family. It is written that Jesus is the groom and the church is the bride.

Can women pastor? Sure. But what happened so wrong that a man is not? It is in our nature to want to love and nurture. I'd rather go with a church willing to go above nature to supernature. I also suspect that has everything to do with the "the husband of one wife" clause too. That's a guy who stepped out of his comfort zone to trust God.

But it's also "appointed by God" that all of us save lives. And all of us pray. Even that women teach younger people. None of that is an office. That is day-to-day life. Pastoring is an office.

Yeah, but like you said, Adam didn't hold on to HIS responsibility, so the woman took over. That, sometimes, still happens today. And why there are women pastors. ;)

Wrongo! It IS God's plan to have women preach. (Titus 2)

(Also, I can contend with the assumption all men have authority over all women, if you ever want to start that topic up. ;))

Ditto, the Bible should always dictate the culture, but what we see going on today is the culture dictating the Bible.

1 Timothy 2:12 Almost every commentator says that women should not pastor or teach over men. The argument the Apostle Paul gives for his statement "I do not permit a women to teach or to exercise authority over a man" is found in the following 2 verses. His argument is actually not from culture as some claim but from creation. The validity of his argument and the weight of this statement plants its roots in the creation order. Which means that the statement he makes regarding women not teaching over men (essentially pastoring) stands for all-time and to all cultures everywhere, because he doesnt appeal to culture for his reasons but the creation ORDER.

In saying all that the text doesnt say women cant teach at all, it only says teach over men and hold authority over men. Also I might add that this is not a issue of salvation. I believe you can be saved whether your attending a church with a women pastor or you are a women pastor. But I would be the most easy convert to believing that women can pastor over men if Paul didnt give his argument from creation.

Again I have no problem with women spreading the gospel. What I do have a problem with is people making false accusations against others, that goes for women & men. I however dont find that amusing because those who do that put themselves under judgement.
