For those who deny that Christ SANCTIFIES us positionally in Christ! The same who deny that sanctification is DUAL in usage....the same who believe their works save and that salvation can be lost or forfeit...all false I might ADD.....

After saying above, "SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND WHOLE BURNT OFFERINGS AND sacrifices FOR SIN YOU HAVE NOT DESIRED, NOR HAVE YOU TAKEN PLEASURE in them" (which are offered according to the Law), then He said, "BEHOLD, I HAVE COME TO DO YOUR WILL." He takes away the first in order to establish the second. By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. <----PAST TENSE

YOU do understand PAST TENSE RIGHT....WE HAVE BEEN SANCTIFIED....ONCE FOR ALL!!!!!
LOL

The author very plainly states in line 17 and "their sins and iniquities will I remember no more"

The sacrifice is the one under the law of Moses (Verse 28) and if you keep reading the author summarizes by saying the just shall live by faith.

The author is saying why do you want to go back to the old sacrificial system where there was no sacrifice for willful sin but instead judgement.

Hebrews is definitely not a book where you can pluck out one verse...it one long treatise and it has to be respected as such.

Matthew11:28-30
[SUP]28 [/SUP]“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. [SUP]29 [/SUP]Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [SUP]30 [/SUP]For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Lesson learned people - if someone teaching you the bible is not of a humble heart and gentle - find a new teacher.

the humble (poor in spirit), fear God, and knows only good works, while eschewing evil like Job did......be blessed

The dwelling of the holy spirit takes precedent over the sins in the flesh, as long as the holy spirit is in you. sins of the flesh is dead as long as you walk in the spirit. one thing God did not do and that is put in us a new brain. it retains all info ,past and present. That is how powerful the holy spirit is. that is all that is needed to worship him in truth and spirit. When he killed it, he killed it., even though it is still in the flesh, it's power is void.

But works are how we know you have believed unto everlasting life
.

Yes by His works not of ourselves lest any man glory in his own flesh boastfully.

All of the prophets died not receiving the promise of a new body and new spirit. We are saved by the work of the faith of Christ not of our selves unless someone boast. Faith without works is dead. Offering human faith towards him through a work a person does consider dead works. We cannot work to do anything that would be accreted to us. to make payment for sin .Christ paid it in full.

But works are how we know you have believed unto everlasting life
.

By Christ’s works we know we have believed unto everlasting life. He promises He who began the good works of salvation in us will, not maybe, finish it till the end It is the work of God working in us that we can believe. Without his faith working to both will and do his good pleasure as a imputed righteous a person ends up like the man in Mathew whom Christ called a “worker” of iniquity. That man did do “despite to the Spirit of Grace”. Notice Christ did not say he did not perform those works but he attempted to rob the glory of God as if it could be after sinful man

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that "work" iniquity. Mat 7:22

Without the proof of salvation that accompanies salvation you will be judged at the Judgment as being a goat, not a sheep, and you will be shipped off to fry in the lake of fire
.

The proof is a new spirit that will never dieand new heart resulting in a ongoing desires to do the will of God not seen.

That's not a works gospel. Works is defined as trying to earn peace with God through works of righteousness. What we've been saying is works prove you possess the gospel of salvation by faith apart from works
.

Can’t work and call that the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding

So again Yes a work of Christ’s gospel from faith, the unseen, to faith, the unseen. His finished the work. Glorying in the flesh only shows another gospel, another Christ .The Spirit seen bears witness. Not our flesh it like the son og man profited for nothing. We continue not having received the promise walk (understand) by the faith of Christ and not that of our own selves.

Work is defined as work .Grace is defined by unmerited favor. There is no limbo in between it is either one or the other. No man can serve two masters. The flesh and the spirit.

Christ provided all the works necessary to give us the undeserved favor. Freely with no cost on our behalf gives us the reward of Him, freely we have received it

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

God gave the Old Testament to Israel, which if any person did not abide by that was cut off from that covenant, and the Gentiles could take hold of that covenant, but if later on they did not abide by it then they would be cut off.

God gave the New Testament to Israel, which Gentiles can take hold of that covenant, and when they accept that covenant,if they do not abide by it later on,then they will be cut off.

If they do not correct themselves, they will be cut off.

The same rule applies if you accept that covenant as a Gentile in either covenant, and did not comply later on,and correct yourself, then you will be cut off, which Jesus addressed the Churches in Revelation, and told them to repent, they have fallen, and their works were not found perfect before God,and if they did not repent then they would be cut off.

Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
Rom 11:17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Rom 11:18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
Rom 11:19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Rom 11:20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
Rom 11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
Rom 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

The same rule applies in the Old,and New,abide by the covenant or you will be cut off,and that cutting off is explained, for they did not continue in God's goodness, being Christlike,so we see what is important to the New Testament covenant, represent goodness.

Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
Heb 3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
Heb 3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Heb 3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
Heb 3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
Heb 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Heb 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Here is another example of those Jews in the Old Testament that would not abide, that they were cut off,and warns the Gentiles that they should not go back to unbelief,in departing from the living God,and how did they do that,by not continuing in the goodness of God,for they were hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Which how many people actually repented of their sins to start with, for the relaxed attitude that many have, did they truly repent, and want to represent goodness,or when they confessed Christ did they have the attitude sin does not affect their relationship with God,and did not make an attempt to try to rid themselves of all their sins, but held unto some,or toned it down a bit,but only was covering their past sins, but did not want to get rid of what was currently going on with sin in their life.

If people that did start in God's goodness, but later on went to some sinful ways, and if they do not correct themselves will be cut off, where does that leave people that did not even make an effort to represent goodness,at least not totally, with the relaxed preaching of the Church telling them you cannot beat sin,and it does not affect your relationship with God.

Did they truly repent.

They have been chosen in the beginning, and cannot fall no matter what,is the whole basis of their belief, and not even scriptures can shake them from that belief.

If you do not continue in God's goodness, you will be cut off,but did they start in God's goodness, and they will depart from the living God,if later on they harden their heart by the deceitfulness of sin,but did they start to cease from all sin.

If they say they cannot abstain from sin,and sin does not affect their relationship with God,how could they of truly repented of their sins, when it means you do not want to sin in the future, for it is a turning away from sin.

I only read your first sentence because MY EYES GLAZE OVER.

WHY must Jesus do everything for you???

He hung on a cross for you, you want he should live your life for you too???

Is there something wrong with this picture?

YES. And I'm sure you've heard me say it MANY times.

So, this time let's do like with the kids.

SCENE 1:
Set up

Garee is a born again Christian. He loves Jesus.
He's a good person. He does everything right.
He never sins - just like Dcon says about some people here.
Apparently some people could NEVER SIN. yeah. That's theology alright.

So, Jesus is very happy with GAREE. And Garee is happy with Garee.

SCENE II.
Set up

But one day....

OH NO. Garee SINS!!!!!!!!!!!!! MAY IT NEVER BE.

Now. If JESUS is doing EVERYTHING for you, and HE'S LIVING THROUGH YOU, or you're living through Him, or whatever...

WHO SINNED?
Garee or JESUS?????????

BTW...
Can Garee not do ANYTHING for Himself except BELIEVE???

Oh my.

Hi FranC,

I will help out. Heb 10:26-27 means exactly what God says....

Heb 10:26-27,
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

If we choose to continue in wilful known sin we are not believing Gods Word and will be lost and not saved because sin is the transgression of God's Law and the wages of sin is death (1John 3:4; Rom 6:23) Hope this helps those struggling with the verses

Gday DCON:rolleyes:,

I am not saying anyone here is living in sin. I do not know that is between everyone reading and God. I was just helping with the meaning of the verses in Heb 10:26-27. Why do you have a different interpretation to the scriptures?
