t become utterly sinful.
Seohce

14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I dugo not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

21 So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. 22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

So "THEN" , I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.
Thank you for sharing the Word & God bless.

I believe that the word THEN means "in the past if I am not mistaken.

Galatians 1:13-16 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man,

DID THE GRACE OF GOD HAD AN EFFECT ON YOU?

1 Corinthians 15:9-12 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was NOT WITHOUT EFFECT. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

Romans 8:12-17 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, TO LIVE ACCORDING TO IT. For if you LIVE ACCORDING TO THE SINFUL NATURE,YOU WILL DIE; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you A SLAVE AGAIN to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

1 John 3:10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were STILL SINNERS, Christ died for us.

Hebrews 10:26-27 IF WE DELIBERATELY KEEP ON SINNNG after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will CONSUME THE ENEMIES OF GOD.

1 John 3:8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.[/QUOTE]

Yes, if one is saved and then delves into a life living under the law, they are still saved. Salvation isn't the issue for them, just life really. Not a whole lot of rest and peace in trying to prove yourself righteous.
Something's not right in you if obedience produces a loss of peace and restlessness in you. If proving your relationship to God is unsettling to you, you've got a problem, for the Bible tells us to prove our relationship as sons and daughters of God:

14Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God" (Philippians 2:14 NASB)

3
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome." (1 John 5:3 NASB)

Obedience to God proves that you are a child of God and gives us peace about our relationship with God and the assurance that we will pass through the coming Judgment safely:

"17By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love. 19We love, because He first loved us. 20If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also." (1 John 4:17-21 NASB)

It's actually the disobedient Christian who can not have peace and rest in this life concerning his relationship with Christ and the coming Judgment, not the one who seeks to obey God and prove that he really is a child of God. But OSAS doctrine has effectively anesthetized the church to this truth by teaching people to derive a (false) sense of assurance from dead faith (faith absent of works). As we can see, that's not what the Bible teaches.

Rev 3:7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Rev 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

:)

see how this works? :;
How what works, that turning a blind eye to the context of the passage I quoted and inserting another makes the truth of the necessity to continue to believe go away?

He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars, says this: ‘I know your deeds, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. 2‘Wake up, and strengthen the things that remain, which were about to die; for I have not found your deeds completed in the sight of My God.3So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. 4‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.6‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ (Revelation 3:1-6 NASB)

Yes faith (with repentance as the opposite side of the same coin) is the prerequisite in order to be justified, but who taught you that justification is the end of the journey, when it is only the beginning? If justification is not followed by sanctification, then the so-called faith is an empty profession.
Yes, an empty profession of faith that can not save. If your faith does not solicit a change of life toward holiness then you have a faith that can not save you on the Day of Judgment, for without holiness (the proof of justification) you will not see the Lord:

"14Pursue...the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord." (Hebrews 12:14 NASB)

That's not a works gospel. What he's saying is, the person who will not see the Lord in His kingdom because he does not live holy is not born again:

"“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." (John 3:5 NASB)

Fix that before it's too late, people. Seek the faith that saves a person--the faith that produces works of godly love in you:

"6For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything (towards being made righteous--see context), but faith (that's what makes you righteous) working through love." (Galatians 5:6 NASB)

Then, when you have those works of godly love in you you'll know that you have the faith that justifies and will be saved on Judgment Day not destroyed. It's that simple, folks. But OSAS doctrine is teaching people to take (false) comfort in their faith 'alone' and teaching that it is not necessary to prove you have the faith that justifies.

It's important to know that faith without works is a faith that did not justify you the way you think it did. And OSAS is teaching the church to not see this truth and to take false comfort in faith 'alone' (faith absent of works).

Because it IS a works gospel. If you're believing on God to stay saved, and for that purpose ONLY, then it IS works-based because you're trying to do what God has already done.
Perhaps your problem is you do not understand that believing only justifies/ saves someone in the sense that it lays hold of that which does the justifying/ saving--the blood of Christ.

IOW, believing is not 'doing what God has already done for you', it lays hold of what God already did for you. And we continue to lay hold of it through our continued believing. That's not a works gospel. Paul NEVER said believing in Christ's blood is part of the works that constitute us trying to earn our own salvation. Instead he said believing is what lays hold of salvation as a free gift apart from the merit of works. So continuing to believe is hardly you trying to do what God has already done for you.

The very moment you believed in Him, you were saved. And still ARE saved. :) Like I said before, it's natural to believe in Him, and what He's done for us. It's as natural as eating, or taking a shower.
I wish that were true, but the reality of doubt exists. If trusting/believing itself was something God does for us and imparts to us instead of us doing it then there would be no such thing as doubt. If God does our believing for us, then we would be forced to conclude that God did not do a good job of that because sometimes we doubt. Are you listening, dcon?

Belief in and of itself is not a work. Neither is trust. BUT if it's done with a self-serving purpose in mind, then it DOES become a work.
Surely there is a verse of scripture that you are referring to that says trusting in the blood for the forgiveness of sin can be a work of self righteous merit when done for a self serving purpose, right? Post it. As I said, your problem is you do not understand that believing is only the door way through which we access that which justifies. We do it for the express purpose of getting Christ's righteousness so we will be saved on the Day of Judgment, not destroyed. That's not a works gospel. If we try to earn righteousness through doing righteous work, that is when we are guilty of the works gospel. Believing is not earning righteousness, it is simply the door way to the free gift of righteousness given apart from doing works of righteousness.

Belief in God is an ongoing thing, but trusting that you have to KEEP BELIEVING in order to stay saved, is just unnecessary.. Belief and trust in God is an automatic, natural emotion once you've been saved.
If this were true, then there would be no such thing as doubt.

It's something you WANT to do, it's not something you NEED to do to stay saved. If that were true, then Jesus would have to die on the cross every day to save you.
You misunderstand terribly. Believing is how you continue to have access to the one time for all time sacrifice of Jesus. It is not necessary that Jesus be re-sacrificed. His blood is always there on the altar. What is necessary is that you have continuing access to the sacrifice that never has to be re-sacrificed. Understand?

Once you have salvation, it is NEVER taken away.
It can never be taken away if I continue to have the sacrifice of Jesus to take away my sins. And I continue to have the sacrifice of Jesus for my sins through my continued believing. You do not get to keep the sacrifice of Jesus if you stop trusting in it. People who do not believe in the blood of Christ are not covered by the blood of Christ. I can't believe that the church has come to the point where now even people who do not believe are saved. But, of course, now is the time that the church starts talking out the other side of it's mouth and says the believer will never stop believing. Such a confused doctrine this OSAS has become!

What if, God forbid, your wife or child is in a horrific accident, and dies, and you're just so shell shocked that you can't fathom why God allowed it, and you just stop believing and trusting Him altogether? Then where is your "present belief"?
Okay, so now we're back to 'you can stop believing' (which I agree with). Obviously, if you stop believing you no longer have the believing which gets you access to the one time for all time sacrifice of Jesus for the covering of sin, so you lose from that point forward the forgiveness of sin that your believing once continually secured for you.

And if you refuse Christ's call to come back and he turns you over to your unbelief you will be unprotected by the power of God in Christ on the day of Judgment and you will be destroyed , not saved. You have to stay forgiven in Christ to stay saved. You do that by continuing to trust in his forgiveness. That's not a works gospel, folks, lol. That is THE gospel. The gospel of the forgiveness of sin (Acts 13:38-39).

Boy oh boy how messed up can a person get in the head?
You keep "Doubting" Jesus everytime you post about this "keep believing" nonsense,if you are still not believing upon Jesus wholly then you haven't accepted him as saviour nor humbled yourself to him,all you have done is just decided that you'll believe in "A jesus" not Jesus the son of God there in lies the problem, you don't acknowledge the "difference" in just claiming Jesus and believing upon him wholly, any evil heathenous sin sick,or even demon can"claim Jesus" but they can't accept him wholly because that requires "dedication and caring".
Many people claim they "have accepted Jesus" but they say so only as a defense not because they have humbled themselves to Christ, anyone who is still stuck in the "I am going to believe" phase has yet to humble themselves to God,I should know because I did the same I kept thinking that because I believed that God existed that I was saved and about Jesus, there is more to believing upon Jesus than standing on ceremony and deciding what "you think is true" once you "start believing wholly upon Jesus" then everything changes, your ideals and thought process, your very way of life,it's no longer about just you anymore it becomes about putting Christ first and letting go of the need to know a bunch of "whys" and desiring to serve him because you "Believe him and upon him" if you seek to believe in him a new every day instead of giving your life to him then you are leaving yourself "vulnerable" to satan.
A good example of my point is of the young clerics that thought they could cast out demons in Jesus name as paul and peter did,the demons told them when they tried"I know paul and I know peter but who are you"?
pretty much telling them "you have no faith in Jesus" and they humiliated them, all because they believed they could do things of themselves but did not believe wholly upon Jesus they only tried "Using Jesus's name"quite a difference.

If anyone has confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and believed in his heart that God raised him from the dead, they shall be saved, whether they believe works are required or not.
If they believe in works, they have not professed Jesus Christ as lord. They have professed themselves as lord. And replaced grace with works. You can say you profess jesus all you want. If its not a reality. It has no power.

Salvation is not a reward. Salvation is a gift, given when a person believes on Jesus Christ. I believe salvation is by faith alone, and that the Christian new birth is an event that happens one time in a person's life, and it cannot be lost.

I believe that is true even for those who believe that they must also do good works to maintain their salvation.

Unlike you, and apparently some others, I'm not going to automatically judge someone as unsaved if they happen to believe works are required to maintain their salvation.
You just contradicted yourself.

You state salvation is a one time event, it is a gift, and it is by faith alone

Then you said those who think it is a reward that must be earned, is not a one time event, but can be lost and regained and lost and regained if they do not maintain works. And is by faith and works are saved.

you can;t have it both ways.

I am judging a false gospel. I can not judge a person. Only God knows if a person is saved, but if th4ey are preaching works. I will do as the Bible tells me to do and stand for the truth.

Paul told people to repent. In the church. So I have precedent for telling people I do not think are saved it would be a good idea to repent.

If they have already truly repented in the past. Glory be to God, if they have not, maybe perhaps they will.

Not by works( NOT VOID OF WORKS) but by grace thru FAITH.(eph 2:8-9)
Justified by works and NOT BY FAITH ALONE.(james 2:24)
Faith that Worketh in Love.(gal 5:6)
Faith and Action Working TOGETHER.(james 2:22)

Salvation is by GRACE through FAITH and NOT BY WORKS(of ourselves).(#1)

It is NOT BY FAITH ALONE(#2)but it WORKS in LOVE(#3)thus FAITH & LOVE(works of obedience(romans 1:5) manifested in ACTION and in TRUTH)(1john 3:16-18)are working TOGETHER.(#4)

2 John 1:6 AND THIS IS LOVE: THAT WE WALK IN OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDS. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you WALK IN LOVE.

THE FIRST PHASE OF SALVATION IS TO BELIEVE IN THE ONE THAT GOD HAS SENT AND IN HIS WORD OF TRUTH, THE GOSPEL OF OUR SALVATION.
(john 6:28-29, eph 1:13,romans 10:8-17).
THROUGH THIS FAITH WE WILL RECEIVE THE PROMISED HOLY SPIRIT(the Helper/Counsellor)(gal 3:14, john 14:16-17)

John 6:28-29 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the WORKS GOD REQUIRES?” Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to BELIEVE in the one he has sent.”

THE SECOND PHASE IS THE WORKING OUT OF THAT SALVATION AND REMAINING/CONTINUING IN THE FAITH TO THE END THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WILL AND COMMANDMENTS, DOING GOOD WORKS. WALKING AS JESUS DID AND BEING A PART OF THE BODY OF CHRIST WHO DOES THE WORKS BEING LED BY THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHO IS THE HEAD.

Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, HIS BODY OF WHICH HE IS THE SAVIOR.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

1 Corinthians 3:9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.

John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has FAITH in me WILL DO WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father

1 Corinthians 15:2 By this gospel you are saved, iF YOU HOLD FIRMLY TO THE WORD I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Romans 1:5 Through him and for his name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the OBEDIENCE that comes from FAITH.

Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always OBEYED—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—CONTINUE TO WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.

Romans 6:16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey—WHETHER YOU ARE SLAVES TO SIN, WHICH LEADS TO DEATH, OR TO OBEDIENCE, WHICH LEADS TO RIGHTEOUSNESS?

2 Corinthians 9:13 Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the OBEDIENCE THAT ACCOMPANIES YOUR CONFESSION OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Ephesians 4:11-13 It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to PREPARE God’s people FOR WORKS OF SERVICE, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the FULLNESS of Christ.

Romans 2:7 To those who by persistence in DOING GOOD seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in DOING GOOD, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus TO DO GOOD WORKS, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

1 Timothy 6:18-19 Command them TO DO GOOD, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Hebrews 5:8-9 Although he was a son, he learned OBEDIENCE from what he suffered and, once made PERFECT, he became the SOURCE OF ETERNAL SALVATION for all who OBEY HIM.

Matthew 19:16-17 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, OBEY THE COMMANDMENTS.”

Matthew 25:21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful SERVANT You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. COME AND SHARE YOUR MASTER’S HAPPINESS!’

WE ARE SANCTIFIED BY THESE TRUTHS AS IT IS WRITTEN:
John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.

James 1:22 BUT BE YE DOERS OF THE WORD AND NOT HEARERS ONLY deceiving your own selves.

Romans 2:13 (For it is not the hearers of the law who are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God: that WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS; and His commandments are not grievous.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Ephesians 3:19 and to know this LOVE that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all THE FULLNESS OF GOD.

THE THIRD PHASE OF SALVATION IS SALVATION FROM GOD’S WRATH. THIS IS DEPENDING ON GOD’S MERCY AND JUDGMENT(JUSTICE).

Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

1 John 4:17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because IN THIS WORLD WE ARE LIKE HIM.

Matthew 12:36-37 But I tell you that MEN WILL HAVE TO GIVE ACCOUNT ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

John 16:8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father,(ref:john 14:12) where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment,(ref:hebrews 10:26-27) because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Romans 2:5-10 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God “will give to each person according to what he has done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

Romans 14:10 You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brother? FOR WE WILL ALL STAND BEFORE GOD’S JUDGMENT SEAT.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.

Hebrews 9:27-28 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, NOT TO BEAR SIN, BUT TO BRING SALVATION to those who are waiting for him.

1 Peter 4:17-18 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the SINNER?”
The three phases of salvation are

1. Being born again, Justified, Adopted as sons, Given an inheritance which will never fade away, perfected forever, Born again, Past from death to life, Given eternal life as a posession, (I can go on and on and on as to what the new believer in christ has been given)

2. resonance sanctification, also kn0own as learningn to work out the salvation that you already have in possession, Constitutes starting out as a babe in christ, advancing through adolescence, childshgood, preteen, teen, and finally adulthood )not everyone will make it through all of these phases. Same may even remain as children, but they are still saved) this phases is called the sanctification phase (he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified) and the work phase (we were created in christ Jesus for good works) this phase will last until we leave this world

3. Glorification phase. When number 2 and number 1 meet. Where we are given a new body free of sin, sickness and disease, and no more tears because death has been defeated.

Any person who has experienced phase 1 WILL reach phase 3. How they get there. Differed for each person, but they will make it.

I have heard it said, I am saved, I am being saved, I will be saved, those represent the three phases.

1 Samuel 12:24, “Only fear יהוה, and you shall serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what marvels He has done for you.”

1 John 4:19, “We love Him because He first loved us.”

Exodus 20:6, “But showing love to thousands who love Me by keeping My Laws.”

1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the mind of man the things which YHWH has prepared for those who love Him.”

John/Yahanan 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

Hebrews 13:7-8, “Remember those leading you, who spoke the Word of יהוה to you. Consider the outcome of their behavior and imitate their belief. יהושע Messiah is the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
who is preaching otherwise? I do not see anyone preaching otherwise, So why do people keep telling others we HAVE to do this when no one is preaching otherwise?

That why the world hates us, and considers us hypocrites. Because we always preach judgment and how we should be so righteous, when in reality, we sin just like they do (only not as much, whic h does not matter)

John/Yahanan 14:23, "Yahshua answered, and said to him: If a man loves Me, he will keep My teachings and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him."

John/Yahanan 7:16-17, "Yahshua answered, them, and said: My doctrine is not Mine, but His Who sent Me. If any man will do His will, he will know about this teaching, whether it comes from YHWH, or whether I am speaking of My own authority."

Again why? You post this over and over and over, who are you posting this to? No one here disagrees with you,. And if you think they do, you are wrong.

All of Gods children love him, and based on that love, they keep his commands.

As john said, the people who do not have never seen him or known them

Amen, There is a difference between belief, and true saving faith.

As jesus said, there will come a day when many who “believe” will shout out all the works they have done in Jesus name in defense, and jesus will say, depart from me.. Because they never had true faith.

I am talking about the gospel. Not in everyday living.

I am also talking about having real faith, vs having no faith at all.
I guess I've come back around to where I always end up, which is to process what's being said as: all you have to do is believe what He said about living forever. The rest of what He said is optional for this life. You only have to believe one thing He said, not all of it. You don't have to turn your back on the world, you don't have to live as He lived, you don't have to struggle to run the race of faith. It would be good if you did because then you will receive lots of unspecified prizes such as hats or crowns to wear, but if you don't, you're forgiven, even if you live as the world does, because the way to life is narrow and few find it. Though its a narrow road, after you believe you will live forever, you don't have to walk on that narrow road.

To use another posters word, I'm not being snarky. This is how I see and process what is being said. That the gospel is only: you will live forever, but everything else He said concerns "everyday life" and does not have to be believed.

Deep in my being, I hear this as a deal to cheat death. God help me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like a gospel of only one thing He said instead of all that He said. Deep in my being it sound's like putting your hand to the plow only long enough to get what you prize most - your life - and then turning back, wiping your mouth and saying, no one has caught me cheating.

When I hear the gospel being you will live forever and nothing else He said, I hear a voice echoing, I will cancel your deal to cheat death.

And I know these thoughts of mine make some people angry. But I can't help that. I have to follow my own conscience in it.

I have finally learned to sweep right past his posts....nothing but law and bondage and pushing that which he himself cannot even keep....as a matter of fact per the bible....other than JESUS, JOHN the Dipper and MOSES.....those who pushed the law the most were the biggest hypocrites to be found and exactly why JESUS raked the Pharisees and lawyers over the coals......

If you believe the above it proves in the very minimum that you have not listened to one word that has been said, or you have been dishonest with what has been said and or you willfully reject what has been said.....and I am not mad.....!

And to be honest.....that is tragic and makes a very profound statement about your character.....

Exactly when you humble yourself to Christ ask for your soul to be saved, accept him,and receive the holy spirit,it is a binding contract forever, and you can hardly unbelieve because what would have been the point of humbling yourself?
You either believe wholly at some point upon Jesus and become saved or you don't believe wholly upon Jesus and are not saved there is no in between, you can't expect to pledge your life to God and expect to "leave his hand" you don't just "leave God",and it makes no sense to "continue to believe" it's kind of like saying "oh no I don't believe upon you Jesus right now,ok I've got to fix this myself,Jesus I believe upon you" "ok now I just have to do this every day for the rest of my life,Jesus understands that I deny him everyday and then accept everyday"
it's ridiculous for someone to think like that because that is a "no faith in Jesus lifestyle" because instead of believing in and upon Jesus you decide "I have to remember Jesus,I have to sustain belief"
That's another thing that's wrong with that thinking all those "have tos" if you are saved you will "want to serve God/Jesus gladly" not because it's some chore to you, because you genuinely care for and appreciate God/Jesus!
