You make me think of ANNA a Russian who lives 5 miles from me...her mom is a Russian bride and together with her husband own a little store called Luvbov's on 185 South out of Sullivan Missouri....for one whole summer I witnessed to her, with her asking question after question and I laid out the truth of Jesus, why, how etc. all spring and summer actually....That particular summer we had a few days around 107.....about 5 years ago....so..here I am cruising down 185 coming home one smoking hot summer day and LO and BEHOLD here is ANNA and her boyfriend walking as they had broken down about a mile earlier and had 5 miles to go in 107 degree heat....I sopped and smiled and asked if they needed a ride and she look astonished.....they said yes and got in and I took them to the store and dropped them off. The next day I stopped by the store and ANNA confessed to me she was praying and telling God that if he was real he would send someone to give them a ride....she started crying and I could see the conviction eating her alive.....WHAT ARE THE ODDS.....

You know how she responded...SHE got angry, shut me out and refused to talk about it ever again.........I am sure you get the drift!

MOST respond with anger against the presented truth and take it out on the messenger in anger.....tragic!
Wow that is a sad story, but maybe God sent more people to break down that garden heart.

Sounds like God is working in her life,

Why dont yall spot Satans tricks to get you to fight?

Oh its another misunderstanding where one talks about the justifying work of the cross and the other talks about the good works God wants us to do after being born again....

Seriously?

By now one would think y'all wouldn't fall for that truck and keep fighting over misconceptions of what the other person said.

Too tired to read more. Gonna keep, everyone,in pray. Later beloved children of the MOST HIGH GOD!

The truth does one of two things...draws one near or causes them to stand off...we did nothing but quote scripture, address her contradictions and make our normal stance on the truth......

The death knell of those damned in Matthew 7:21-23 is in the ending, that is, that they lived in iniquity, they were lawless, and they are rightly and justly named "workers of lawlessness". We see this warned against in 1 John 3:4ff. We see this same practice today in Antinomianism. A person may claim faith all they want, belief all they want, Sola Fide if you will, but true belief is witnessed in the life, not in the words.
We can also rightfully deduce they attempted another door...one that blended faith and WORKS...PAUL covers this in Galatians...

and works of the LAW do not save, keep saved or facilitate salvation!

FAITH and FAITH alone saves

The death knell is they trusted self and works over JESUS.....

Here's the problem: We perpetually have this attempt to one up the other here instead of allowing the blending of all truths in any particular passage. I'm not dismissing anything you've stated, I'm simply pointing to the solemn words of Christ as He dismisses these to hell.

The bottom line is they were lawless, they were workers of iniquity, and there are many Sola Fide professing believers who fall into that category. These are the final words of Christ concerning them, He calls them workers of iniquity. These need to be warned just as much as those who think they are self-righteous by their works. By the way, I'm not getting from the text that they thought they were self-righteous whatsoever, but that's just my take. Needless to say those too will perish.

Not trying to one up anyone bro...I agree...they were lawless and lost because of a rejection of Christ in favor of self and works.....

You sound like Peterjens when he "did nothing but...." and can't figure out why folks are mad at him.

You know it would help if y'all comforted the hurt folks and told them that God sees their heart as and if He says they are His children then they are your beloved brother or sister in Christ.

Just saying, I notice a lack of comfort and acknowledgement of God's love in many people's posts.

Haven't read to far to see if your statement of "just presenting the truth" is true or not, so don't take this as a personal attack.

Just an overall observation of how fights get started so easily here on c.c.

Wait wait wait..,this thread is 153 pages?

Seriously???

Are my glasses broken?

Wow and only been going for 3 months.

Look....I think many things get said by ALL...it seems there are some that can make mouthy, snide remarks in a subtle way and then get easily offended when one responds openly and points out said snide remarks....the thing is...I can deal with anyone and everyone disagreeing, but when they start implying, embellishing and or twisting what I say to make me say or imply something I did not even get close to saying or implying it fires me up.....partial quotes, misquotes etc...are the norm from most who teach a works based salvation....so....a sure sign of spiritual maturity is to not be easily offended...and in all my time on here, all the heat I have taken from those who disagree with me or say things I have never said....there is only ONE I have blocked.....

Very well put.
Good explanation for why Jesus used parables.
He also wanted some effort made to understand Him. Also by speaking in parables people could add their own understanding by experiences had by them instead of being told exactly what they should think.

We follow jesus with our heart, not a bunch of rules, so he wanted people to understand with their heart.

But some had hard hearts. No ears to hear...

When we dont like what is being said...we dont want to hear.[/QUOTE]

I think we get ourselves into fighting mode on here and it's a habit. Make a thread and get attacked outright even when making a stand for truth. It's saddening and a bad witness. Yes, we have false teachers here and they need rebuked but we should show our love toward one another who preach truth.

I put folks on ignore when the stress of life is too much and I need more encouragement and I know some on here will do nothing but find fault in what I have to say.

I don't believe it's immaturity to ignore certain people's comments. Even Jesus was silent at times when they falsely accused Him.

So sometimes ignoring folks is a good thing.

However I do agree that it takes spiritual maturity to not be easily offended and God is still teaching me that one.

I recognize that I am easily offended and my family says I needed tougher skin and not to let my heart be so easily bruised by others.

I don't know how to have a tougher heart, but God has taught me how to have a more forgiving one. Forgiving even those I don't think deserve it because I didn't deserve God's love or forgiveness either.

So I probably never have "thick skin" but I have God as my comforter and healer, so I believe it will work out okay anyway.

Chris,
You've started another thread re justification and sanctification.

I lovingly tell you that I do not have them mixed up. Please read all the posts on your other thread.
I also explained why the terms were explained by the early theologians after Jesus ascension and the early letters.

Justification has a very specific meaning and sometimes the writers of the N.T. got the two terms mixed up.
Sanctification also has a very specific meaning.
Let's please at least agree on this...
I don't know of any church that explains them differently from the norm.
(the Catholic church gets them a little mixed up, but in the end, they've come around too)

Ooops. There's something wrong with the quote thingy.
THIS SHOULD REALLY BE FOR DCONTROVERSAL.

You could ignore it if you wish, as you do everything I've said to you from the beginning.

Did you ever find out what a red herring fallacy is?
You're really good at it...

Interesting how you got a like from Ariel, whom I find to be a loving person, and dcontroversal, whom I find to be always in the fighting mode and insulting mode. There is very little use in speaking to him...

The only things that offend me on here, is when someone tells me that I don't have enough faith or belief to get healed, and when I am called demon possessed because I have epileptic seizures.. :/ Oh and when someone says "let's burn the bug" like EG and Bruce did yesterday.. :p LOL jk.. I don't like the words "burn" or "swat".. lol

Abraham believed God and it was put to his count for righteousness.....MAYBE you have heard of it FRAN....it is CALLED FAITH

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by FAITH without the deeds of the law....

You should try it...John said...IT IS OUR FAITH that overcomes the world.....
Do you ever read back what you write?
Read the above comments of yours and tell me if they sound like something a Christian person should say.

How do you know what I've heard or what I've tried.
You're a very insulting person.
I'll be pointing this out to you.
Maybe we could get you to read Mathew 5, that might help too.
Oh. You HAVE read it?
See. That's how it feels.

Yeah but are we just supposed to allow ourselves to get attacked, sometimes without provocation or reason, and not defend ourselves? That ain't happening with ME.. :) I don't usually attack others, because that's not who I am, I HATE confrontations. But I will ALWAYS defend myself, and others if need be..
