I would say that those who label grace as "cheap" or "greasy" have no idea about grace and or the saving faith of Jesus....I can see one particular member behind his pulpit hammering grace and pushing works and self along with hyper sensationalised spiritualized back flips down the isle for salvation........along with give the dog a bone theology.............
When a person labels it thus, they are generally showing that the "grace" being presented isn't a biblical definition of grace. Note Jude 1:4 for an example. I'm speaking of those who label it in that sense who are biblical, who know we are not saved by works or performance.

I wonder how many people agree with the 5 solas?

Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.
Sola Fide (“faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
Sola Gratia (“grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.
Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Savior, and King.
Soli Deo Gloria (“to the glory of God alone”): We live for the glory of God alone

I have a suspicion that the second and third may give some people issues.

No it's because they believe the lies that Reformed (aka than Calvinist boogie man) don't believe in free will and that limited atonement means that Jesus only died for an elect few and that Calvinist believe in a mean and unjust God. Also that those who believe themselves elect are more prone to pride and don't crucify the old man or learn to walk with the Holy Spirit and produce fruit unto repentance.

I see the straw man already being erected.

It's sad that people can't see past the lies.
that makes them men followers, and explains why they can listen to someone try to explain, yet can't understand.

Having a heart filled of God's love is important, but wisdom and knowledge of sound doctrine and God's promises gives hope while walking and bearing ones own cross.

The troubles of this world fade in the light of eternity with God. That hope gives a peace and joy only God's love provides, because it rests upon the knowledge one day we get to go home to our Father.

We are strangers in this world on mission as ambassadors for our Father King.

How we speak reflects upon our understanding and relationship with God.
Or as Paul called it. A momentary light affliction

It could also be when you know Jesus and love, fear is cast away because fear has to do with
condemnation.

Are we focused on the now and living here rather than what might be in the future?
I have found people who think they have arrived do not see the work of love is eternal, we just
need to realise it.

Our security is in the cross, not eternity, because the cross speaks of Gods love that never fails.
A promise is words, the cross is action and intent, making the words real. I live only in the moment,
the future is what will be, all I need is tomorrow's next step and I will climb the mountain.

You may not have noticed it is those who find Gods heart of love working in them, that are walking
in the Spirit, and are concerned how to meet the needs of those around them. A heart of love is
Gods heart, nothing else really matters.
The cross and eternity are forever intertwined together as one,

it is because use of the cross God can give eternal life, apart from it we would suffer eternal death.

so you can. NOT chose one without including the other. Try as you may, that is where you fail to see the gospel. And the power it has to not only save completely that which was lost, but change lives.

PeterJens,you say this....

So I stand before the Lord and am judged not on my transformation and growth in the Kingdom but did
I trust I could not be lost
Does that mean your idol is your personal transformation and obedience/growth?

I do believe that our works will be judged. However, I believe the final judgement is upon Whom did you rest your faith? Jesus or yourself?

God judges the foundation. The world judges the fruit.

I choose to worship God.

Neither the idol of security or the idol of good works.

He leads me into green pastures and refreshes my soul. In Him I am secure and by His power I do good works, but neither matters as much as being in His presence and receiving His love.

Amen bro......I have a hard time seeing those who trust into works and or the ability to lose salvation as actually being saved....both are false and contrary to the truth...Jesus was and is clear...he gives eternal life unto all that actually put their faith and trust into his completed work...those who interject self and works have not fully trusted into Christ and those who reject the eternal aspect of salvation places trust into themselves and something they must do in order to maintain that which is not maintainable........He will finish what HE started and he will NEVER leave nor forsake one whom he has started a good work with and in!
to me, if they do not believe Christ will complete what he started in saving a soul, their faith is in self, not God,

PeterJens when you say life eternal in this statement...what do you mean by it?

Our security is in the cross and Christs love, which is our service,
our salvation, the thing that drives us on. It is why I share here, am driven to praise my
King, because there is no greater love than the one He expressed through the cross, so
while it seems to make life two dimensional for some, it is life eternal.

FranC.....there isn't much point in speaking to you because I doubt you will listen.

A lot of folks shine God's light and believe in walking in God's laws and understand the doctrine of eternal security.

There has been a ton of name calling on both sides of the debate.

The post you commented on Peter is calling people idolaters.

Yet you find that acceptable Christian behavior?

Titus 3
2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour,
7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

The irony of p4t and Stephen joining forces considering p4t is a declared Calvinist and Stephen is solidly in the Free will camp.

I guess their dislike of me bonds them?
Ooh, that was good! Slap & divide all in the same sentence! Says more about you than you think.;)

It's interesting that the Pharisees and the Sadducees who were normally against each other - joined forces to attack Christ when He exposed the self-righteousness of religion. Jesus also proclaimed the grace and love of God for people and religion does not like the idea of grace being proclaimed.

The only time that it is actually said that Jesus was angry was when He got angry at the religious people for being against grace and the love of the Father being shown to someone who Jesus healed in the synagogue.

( He was most likely angry at the temple cleansing too - the scriptures just don't say that He was. )

Another worker for.......a pseudo blend of faith and works....another peddler of false gospels......the kind that makes the plenteous in number that gets cast because of a partial trust into Jesus while dwelling on works.....
Aand the judges come outta the woodwork again, to tell us all who's holy & who isn't.

The Sanhedrin would be proud.:)

It is an interesting idea, which to a degree I have not focused on.
Jesus said this

For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
Matt 12:37
So our confession is very important.

I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant!
Luke 19:22

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.
Matt 16:27

each person was judged according to what they had done.
Rev 20:13

Now how would you judge a believer.
1. Their confession of faith
2. Their walk or actions

So if before you you had someone who confessed faith in Christ yet nothing changed in their
life and they did not follow or do anything related to Jesus, and another who confessed
faith and followed after Jesus's teaching, who actually knew Christ?

So without transformation, confession and a changed life how could one ever claim to know
Christ or that this was a reality.

When is something a proposal and when does it become a reality.
For Abraham it was offering up Isaac. Until then it was looking good, but this proved he
feared God.

For Peter it was staying with Christ despite denying him three times after being boastful.
For each of us it is probably some crucial point.

For Israel it was going into the promised land despite the enemy seeming strong and powerful.
This was such an odd compromise after all they had seen and heard. Was God going to deliver
the promise or was it all a sham. They plumped for sham. And they were rejected.

our strength, our everything and will go on eternally.

It's still easy to spot the pharisees.

Always arrogant, with an attitude of supremacy. High & lifted up, they are. A form of godliness.

One thing they don't have & can't be duplicated is the anointing. Satan has cheap imitations for just about everything, but not that.

Upon careful inspection you will find a total lack of empathy, & a false sense of humility.

Now that it's out in the air, they will either strike with a vengeance or cower in false humility.

Satan can imitate many things, but he can't cover who he is. All one has to do is look for it.

Ummm..this list is incomplete...

Now how would you judge a believer.
1. Their confession of faith
2. Their walk or actions
The world judges by the fruit..God judges by the Root.

The two things you listed are how the world judges believers.

God sees a persons heart. He knows if the confession of Faith was grounded in Christ or just empty words spoken.

Jesus Christ is our root. He is our foundation. Eternal life and salvation is based on if you trust in Him or in yourself.

We will be judged also by our works but that is a different reward.

Salvation is a gift, not a reward,
