The most foul doctrine that has ever been put into the mind of man from our enemy is the belief that we lose our salvation. Jesus is the Savior - we do not save ourselves.

its impossible to lose something that hasnt been given yet... however you can gain salvation after being saved and im not denying that.. but you think you can lose your salvation for denying God in a certain way..

The problem with this is everyone does that befor being saved..

This is your logic not mine this is you preaching you can lose your salvation.. not us... what i say is its only your salvation to be lost not mine..

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

[SUP]9 [/SUP] not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

You have been saved is in the perfect passive - which means it is something that happened in the past that is always in the present state in a complete state. It is true continuously in the present.

Passive means - it was done to you - you didn't do it yourself.

The sixth session of the Council of Trent condemned those claiming an assurance of salvation:

It is not to be said to any one boasting a confidence and certainty of the forgiveness of his sins, that his sins are forgiven, or have been forgiven; seeing this vain confidence, totally remote from piety, may exist in heretics and schismatics. ... As no pious man ought to doubt of the mercy of God, the merit of Christ, and the virtue and efficacy of the sacraments, so every one, while he beholds his own weakness and disinclination, may be in fear and dread respecting his own gracious state; seeing that no man can know with a certainty of faith, as to which there can be no lurking error, that he has obtained the grace of God. (Chapter 9)

Whosoever shall say that he holds it absolutely and infallibly certain that he shall have the great gift of perseverance even unto the end, if he has not learned this by special revelation, let him be anathema. (Canon 16) Such people are guilty of the sin of presumption. On the other hand, one should hope in his own salvation, provided he has done good works:

Whosoever shall say that the righteous ought not, for the good works which may have been done in God, to expect and hope for eternal recompense from God through his mercy and the merits of Jesus Christ, if he persevere even to the end in well-doing and in keeping the Divine commandments, let him be anathema. (Canon 26)

I once shared 1 John 5:13 with a Roman Catholic priest - These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.. He tried to tell me that the Greek word for "know" in 1 John 5:13 means "uncertain" and you "can't know for sure."
That is because a Catholic priest is as ignorant as the people the sell out to the false religion they are a part of...!

Thank you so much for posting this, Praise be to God...I have been convicted today for something i should of done, but instead i have to admit i behaved lukewarm...I have spoken with God over the matter as I know that the Holy Spirit brought to my mind that i did not produce fruit when the moment was right, this fruit being kind to the needy...Scales have been taken from my eyes today, and i thank God that His Son my Lord Jesus Christ is teaching me, and what you wrote here from the Scriptures, I truly believe God wanted me to see this, so although you have posted this for reasons to do with the conversation going on about Salvation, your post has also blessed me for a different reason...God is wonderful, all the glory to God...xox...God working through you, to me has made me a stronger sapling...:)
your post probably helped me more

may God bless you

Hey PJ I think firstly I would say given your first paragraph it's actually not a small point, not to you anyway, you say sad, hurtful, uncaring and so on, so to me you are actually saying it's a big point.

To me in a sense your last sentence negates your post.

All limey was doing was asking why stop at verse 3.

Limey I do have to say though "oops you comitted your first sin today" was a bit harsh.

Any response that is percieved as negative will never be a good starting point, it puts barriers up and then it builds on self preservation.

Given your quote about the apostles it seems to me that you are being treated as to how the apostles were treated, to you you're motives are pure and holy but you must recognise so are those who disagree with you.
Yes, you are right, it was harsh and childish, Peter I humbly and publicly apologize. Bill, Thank you.

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them."
Luke 17:3

I am struggling to understand something. What is sinning against someone?
Lying, stealing, slandering, physically attacking them. Repenting of this sin needs
to be a recognition of the sin, a commitment to not repeat it, a confession of the action
that was done, and finally a request for forgiveness.

I think there is a lack of understanding what repentance of an action actually is and how
it works in a biblical way.

If someone claims faith yet fails to repent of sin, it appears we do not have to forgive
them. I do not believe this is the right way, but the verses in luke could be read to
imply this.

The ironic thing is, if one does not recognise things properly it becomes a bigger
farce than the original sin itself.

Now if simple issues cannot be handled properly, do you think issues of sin before
the Lord are handled any better or with any more sincerity? It makes you wonder
how secure and presumptious people get because they feel they know what following
Christ actually is.

Easy believism is another coined phrase by the plentious in number that will be cast into hell because they trusted into themselves and their works over Jesus......
Translation..... anyone who don't believe in easy believeism is a works salvationist & going to hell.

It is ridiculous to even compare radical Islamist fools to a believer in Christ who has trusted into the saving faith of Christ....Jim this comparison you have made and then like by Peter is the exact reason why I call you guys cake takers....because it takes the cake and tops the list of statements that are as contrary as they come!
It's even more ridiculous to twist every scripture by Paul against Judiazers for adding works of the Law to their salvation to say anyone who believes real faith has to have matching works are works salvationists!

Coined phrases by those who will be in the "plenteous in number grouping" that get cast for trusting into themselves over Jesus does not bother me....I will gladly wait for the day that the workers for and cakes takers find out that salvation was by grace through faith void of works.....!

The bible is clear....NOT by works of righteousness which WE HAVE DONE, but ACCORDING to HIS MERCY has HE SAVED US!

This one verse alone alleviates works as a means of salvation...if one cannot work to get it, one cannot work to keep it....if works it is no longer GRACE....the verse quoted states it is BY GRACE not WORKS!
Take another look around..... the multitude is you & your cronies!

I would say that those who label grace as "cheap" or "greasy" have no idea about grace and or the saving faith of Jesus....I can see one particular member behind his pulpit hammering grace and pushing works and self along with hyper sensationalised spiritualized back flips down the isle for salvation........along with give the dog a bone theology.............
Whoever he was, at least he's still there..... where are you now? Where's your church?

It's our favorite heckler, returned to shoot his arrows.

It's kind of fun to see what stuff he can come up with.

Unfortunately the sad part is - he is stuck in this malice and it is going to destroy him eventually. We need to pray for him to awake to who he is in Christ and really experience true life in the Lord Jesus.

"true satanism to be exact"

"placing emphasis upon yourself and your works"

I have not been called a satanist before, lol. Dear fellow believers, there is a point where
people go from a polite discussion about faith, to name calling to total condemnation and
trying the worst insults possible. Desperate emotions call for desperate insults.
God bless dc.

I am not placing an emphasis on me or my works but on the cross and on Christ.
I remember weeping infront of the cross and feeling so unworthy and empty, and knowing
Jesus had done everything, how could I serve my Lord and Saviour.

Jesus brought us victory and transforming power, but we need to know the rules of the
heart, and our lives. Unless we open up our hearts, and repent, work through our sins,
desire righteousness and the way of love, we will never know how Jesus was driven to
the cross and how we can share in His suffering.

Why would I a wounded lost sinner desire to share in Christs suffering? Because once
washed pure, once cleansed and healed there is no greater gift to others than demonstrate
the eternal love of Christ in human form.

Glory to God, who raised Christ from the dead, and seated Him at the right hand of the
Father.

Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God.
Rom 15:17

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matt 5:11-12

Halleluyah to God on High that He has counted me worthy of persecution in
His name, amen.
Amen and to God be the glory.

It's sad to see people professing how their the ones who get it antagonizing one another, I sincerely hope not many young Christians come to some of the battle threads doesn't reflect the Lords will much at all. No one really in this forum has much in the way of pointing fingers at others or labeling each other.

Im swear in out of this one, definitely not much of the spirit showing through
