Why not add to this something like "This is following Jesus - having complete dependence on what Christ alone has done for us to do those things He commanded us to do, because without Him we can do nothing" ?

Otherwise, you make it look like "all we have to do is believe in Jesus", making it look like a mental assention is all it takes.

You aren't saying that, right?
This is because he believes in positional salvation, rather than manifest reality, which is the bed rock of Joseph Prince's doctrine...

I know there are a lot of Americans on this discussion board, which makes me wonder is Manifest Reality related to

Manifest Destiny or is it the other way around...
:)

At any rate there is a Manifest Buffet down the street from me and it is quite scrumptious!! ;)

As an American and a Marine (80s) I always jave from 1 to 5 or 6 weapons within reach...even now...I sit in a hospital in St. Louis (my mother having a cat scan) and am armed with a Ruger 9 with 2 magazines and 35 rounds of ammo....haahah You just never know....!
For a second there, I thought my own husband entered this thread by your "artillery" description... :D I've lost count, but know we are never without "lead and metal casings"! (Hope your mother's CAT scan proves positive on her behalf).

Stephen, I am less concerned about how sinner behave then how God asks me to respond.

There are so many worldly people already around us everyday, that I hope to find a few in CC and in church to make me less homesick.

I would rather look for the light shining from the hearts of people touched by His Holy Spirit, then focus always in the dark.

God tells us to be as wise as serpents but as harmless as doves.

Yeah I know some days I ask God why He still has me here cuz I tend to make so many mistakes and am a broken mess. Somehow he patches us back together and gives us His love and shows us how he can make beauty out of our broken pieces.

Tried to rep you again but apparently I have to spread it a bit more.

Consider a rep again from me.

During my struggles when I shrank back my beautiful wife stood with me all the way.
She didn't get what I was going through and she hurt as well for me. She was confused with what was going on.

One day someone said to her "I have prayed for Bill, I saw a picture of a coal fire that want burning, I asked God what does this mean, then God stoked the fire and then I saw an ember. The fire wasn't out, then as God stoked the fire the ember started to burn the coals and set alight"

Now the person who told my wife this had no idea what was going on with me, he didn't really know me. We were not friends as we did not know each other.

When I started to come back to church and started to let go and let God and the fire started burning in me then my wife told me off the picture given to her.

That picture was given 15 years previous.

Am imperfect? No.
Do is still struggle? Yes
Does God still use me? Yes

Does Jesus live hold on for eternity?

YES YES YES YES.
Thank you for the "reps"... but your testimonies are glorious and highly valued above any "measure" CC offers. (no offense to CC or anyone for those options) They bespeak the LOVE OF GOD and His grace, mercy and healing in your life which brings inspiration and "hope" for many. Thank you for exercising the humility required to post all that you have. ~ Honored to have you as a Brother IN CHRIST.

Why?
You're my competition?
With Dcon, I mean.
I think he's all mine...
I missed this today somehow. No, Fran. Normally I would reply you can have him, but this one is already taken.

Stroking flesh is not my thing.

Stone,

Actually, the last sentence about me not having a crush on YOU was meant for YOU
because Blue thinks I have a crush on YOU.

I mean, I know I'm a floozy, but I'm not THAT bad!

I said Dcon knows I'm just kidding around.

People should not be criticized and "attacked" just because they have a differing opinion.

As far as the other site, I don't know.
I am on another site.
Are we allowed to mention it??
I must say that if you use the same name, then no, I don't know you.
Just saw this too.

My opinion...this is bible discussion. It's good to have fun and we can't be serious all the time because we want to have fellowship with each other too. Bantering is great. But, clean fun. Wholesome words as befitting Children of Light. (Not as new age portrays)

If you don't recognize my name then it's not you. However, the person I'm thinking about ....I've always thought she was making up different profiles under different names. One of them she said she had 8 children.

Good to know its not you.

Love your wording here... "dark night of the soul". What a great expression of those "hard times".... thank you.
Its not mine JoDel. I went through this myself but didn't know it had a name until I read about certain saints lives. Perhaps we all have this experience at some point in life.

that is not biblicaly true, the apostle Paul said they were made clear/pure in repentance with great effort and zeal having come clean with God in repentance, 2 Cor. 7....
Yes it is very much Biblical. If you understood what I posted, you would say the same. When David asked God to create in him a clean heart, that was repentance; why do you think he was considered a man after God's own heart? He didn't stay in an adulterous murdering spirit. He repented of his sins as we must do, but we can even ask God for the gift of repentance and a clean heart. We can and have to depend of God for everything we need to please Him, and we have God's goodness that leads us to repentance; moreover, it is God who works in us the will to do according to His good pleasure. This is sound doctrine.

God doesent repent for you, and you cant become reckoned to be pure by God outside of repentance....The apostle James says to cleanse your hands you sinners, and purify your hearts ye double-minded, James 4-8...its up to everyone of their own freewill to come clean with God, and yes it is God who determines if he sees purity, he will never say no to an honest repentance...Or as Solomon said in the proverbs, the preparation of the heart belongs to man, but the answer of the tongue is Gods'...be blessed
I never said there didn't have to be repentance. You cannot repent without God's strength and help; we are utterly and completely dependent on Him. What you said is not Biblical. You cannot take one verse and make it say what you want to believe. You need the whole counsel of God. God puts repentance in us or it isn't happening. NO ONE CAN COME TO CHRIST UNLESS THE FATHER DRAWS HIM!!!

I think you are asking me about the dark night. Am sure if you google it, it will come up. My reading was way before the Internet.

repentance that purifies

2 Cor. 7

10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear ("hagnos", meaning pure) in this matter......

I dont think Ive ever heard any mainstream preacher ever address these two verses...its almost unknown amongst what is called Christianity....... what thinkest thou?
Repentance (godly sorrow) is agreeing with God that we are sinners saved by God's grace through faith; it is not of yourselves. Jesus is the author and the finisher of our faith. He that Has begun a good work in you will complete what He started. Worldly sorrow is being sorry you got caught. Godly sorrow is agreeing with God.
