Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
James 5:2

Love - righteousness

In the old testament love was commanded but it was the long lists of rules
that spelt out the obligations and precepts of loving people.

With Christ love is very much up front and personal.

So when the apostles say "love" they mean be righteous, but not in a legalistic
sense but in the fulfillment of Christs love to us through the cross.

For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Gal 5:14

Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
Rom 13:10

So why do people find loving so very hard?
Maybe because in the world they hold so many grudges.

I have been accused of hiding a wicked heart, of lying and being evil, not because
I am but because these people have been betrayed in the past over the dream of
a loving environment and found betrayal and hurt instead.

This is truly sad, but not part of my experience in the Lord. It is Gods love through
the cross that truly empowers us to love one another and walk in righteousness
and respect.

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? ... James 2:14-26

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Matthew 16:27

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. John 14:22

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. 2 Corinthians 11:15

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. ephesians 2:10

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Galatians 5:19

Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. James 2:17

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. James 2:18

But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:20

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. James 2:24

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. James 2:25-26

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. James 3:13

Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom. 1 Peter 2:12

[SUP]12 [/SUP]And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Revelation 20:12-13

I asked this yesterday got no answer. Maybe someone here will be kind enough to give me an answer?

Can a true believer in Christ NOT have good works?

Slightly ironic. EG has me on ignore, so my response to this question he will not
have seen.

What a parable about watching and understanding others and then controlling
ones response. If you are blind to what is going on, you literally miss it.

A believer follows Christ and becomes like Christ so does the works Christ
did. So by definition a believer will always be like this or they are not
a believer.

It is like saying does a duck quake or a chicken cluck. You do what you are.

Now how this shows and how traumatic the life people come out of can effect
how this shows.

But where the sensitivity is, is in people looking for change or impact because they
want to know they are saved not do they know Christ.

It is like saying I love this painting but I cannot be bothered to buy it as compared
to someone who says, I love this painting, here is the cash. You know by their
actions what it means to them.

Now there are cases of people having the intellectual assent to Christ yet their
hearts said nothing. Then when love started to flow because of relationship situation
it all clicked.

The story called Peace Child

This is a stunning film and illustrates exactly the problem we have understanding God
and Christ.

So we have two votes. A person who has true faiht in christ will do good works. Thank you Peter.

Anyone else?

Paul was dealing with Gentiles, and their religions.

James was dealing with the saints.

We are saved by faith alone, because that is all we can do_Our righteousness is as filthy rags, there is none that does good,no,not one,all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,so the only thing we can do when we initially accept Christ is to have faith.

We are saved by faith alone when coming to Christ, and none of our works can save us for they are works of the flesh.

Paul is telling the Gentiles that tried to find favor with God by their religions, that their works will not find them favor with God,but only by confessing Jesus Christ can they find favor with God,and they could only be saved by faith alone.

Paul is speaking from a fleshy perspective reaching out to the Gentiles and their religions, telling them that it is not the way,for they were fleshy at the time Paul was reaching out to them, until they turned to Christ, and received the Spirit.

James was dealing with the saints after they were saved, and received the Spirit, that they had to have the works of the Spirit, which is love people, feed and clothe them, help them with their needs,to have faith active in the life, for faith without works is dead, and a man is justified by works, and not faith alone.

Paul, faith alone, for that is all we can do when we first come to Christ, for we are fleshy, and have not received the Spirit,so our works do not apply for salvation.

James, justified by works, and not faith alone, from a spiritual perspective, for now our works apply because it is coming from a saved position having the Spirit.

Not a contradiction, but one when we first come to Christ, faith alone, and one after we receive the Spirit, justified by works, and not faith alone.

That is speaking of tribulation. If you are not alive during tribulation that verse is not talking about you.

Can you please find another verse..
