These verses were in my devotional from the other day, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. I know sometimes it may be hard to give thanks in all circumstances as the verse says. God I know your with me in good times and in bad. I may not understand why things happen, but i know your always by my side getting me through. God Thank you for being in my life no matter what i maybe facing.

In her book The Hiding Place, Corrie ten Boom talked about how her sweet sister was a better Christian than herself, she had more faith. They were brought to their last camp- and the barracks were crawling with body lice. Betsy told Corrie that they needed to pray and thank God. Corrie was doubtful about what they could be thankful about, after all- they were in a Nazi death camp and their bodies were infested with lice. But, they prayed and thanked God for the lice.

The commandant didn't want to get lice, so she never came into inspect the barracks. This meant that their Bible that was hidden was not confiscated, nor their bottle of smuggled vitamins. This meant that they could witness to the Jewish ladies and Betsy could take her vitamins and stay healthier a little longer. Sometimes, when things are going badly, I think "Thank God for the lice."

When I read the book, this part of the story inspired me to be thankful for everything, even when I don't understand it. So... thanks for the reminder. :)

Thank you Lord for the cancer growing in my mouth and gums. Try that one! What I could do was thank God for the opportunities He could use it for, and that His hand would be seen.

I did rename the cancer. I now call it the locusts. Seems to make it more temporary since God sent a wind and all the locusts were swept away, and He restored the land that the locusts had damaged.

dear sis yes, thank Him 4 the opportunities He is not the cancer bringer but He is the one who makes a message out of the mess of life. the enemy it is he who comes 2 kill-steal-destroy our lives. Jesus is the life giver and healer of our lives. we deny the killer and welcome the HEALER.

I believe there is a vast difference between thanking God "in" all things and thanking God "for" all things.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Rejoice always;

[SUP]17 [/SUP] pray without ceasing;

[SUP]18 [/SUP] in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

He takes the evil brought into our lives by our enemy and the fact we live in this corrupted world and creates good from it as we "look to Him in all things".

We can thank Him in every situation - no matter what it is - knowing He is Lord of all and is mighty to save. Nothing is finalized until He has the final say.

God is going to be relating to us throughout all eternity in the surpassing richness of His grace in kindness. He is not going to be bringing cancers or anything that is contrary to life into our lives so that we can thank Him for it.

Ephesians 2:7 (NASB)
[SUP]7 [/SUP] so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

I firmly agree that in every situation - we should be turning to the Lord with the proper thinking and that He will cause all things to work together for good. How He does that - is His business - ours is to trust Him in all things. This is what makes God - God.
