Sounds very much like my wrist was, and yes it HURTS! I've given birth seven times - six of those times with no pain meds . . . rather would do that than go through a shattered wrist again. I actually used my labor breathing as I coped with the wrist pain in the several hours from my fall to traction/cast and paid meds! I can remember holding my wrist and putting my forehead against the wall and using breathing techniques between whimpers, ha.
I felt soooo much better after surgery - things were back in place and the pain was greatly reduced. I can't remember the technical jargon for the surgery I had, but here's my post-surgery pic. Seven small screws to pull the broken parts together and three big screws to attach the T-plate to the arm bone

It was kind of creepy thinking about all of that stuff in my arm, but now I rarely think about it. The scar has taken longer to resolve/heal than the wrist - that kind of surprised me. Silicone scar patches are great (
Scar Away worked well for me). I didn't care about the appearance of the scar, but it was really tender/sore and burned/itched for a long time. The silicone sheets (you can cut them to size) really helped to break down the scar tissue and protect the tender scar tissue from sleeves/bumps/brushes against things.
Prayers that all goes well on Monday. Just think of it as a good nap with scheduled maintenance
