When Peter, James and John saw Jesus transfigured, the Father said

"This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!"
matt 17:5

We are commanded to listen to Jesus, every word and concept He brings
It is a sin not to listen to him.

It is a sin not to obey all He has commanded us.

Make disciples,
"Teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" matt 28:20

Some seem to suppose we live is a world were love rules and commands
do not matter, we can pick and choose which to apply in our lives, because
we are under grace and not law.

The above should change peoples view on this, actually it is sin not to
obey and walk in the commands and teachings of Christ.

That's right faith in Jesus Christ is faith in the words of God, which Jesus also spoke; by which also the unbelievers in them shall be judged.

John 12:48-49

[SUP]48 [/SUP]He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

[SUP]49 [/SUP]For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak."

Yes we sin when we fail to do the will of God.....

And thats why Jesus came and suffered death on the Cross to take upon Himself the punishment we transgressors of Gods will deserve....

Yes agree with and declare the will of God to be good and true..

But do not neglect to share the Gospel of the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ which covers all our failures to do Gods will.

Remember there are babes in Christ who are reading and who may not understand the Cross.. Teaching them that they must perform the will of God to the point of perfect holyness will only undermine their hope and could cause them to lose all hope when they find that they cannot perfectly obey the will of God..

Let us be frank.

Obedience is a life long walk, with many stumbles along the way.
We know the truth of this walk through testimony of failure and victory, of struggles that
grow into a real good holy life.

But what people are so often preaching is there is no real obedience or goal or walk, it
is just arriving and resting and nothing else is required.

cc and the discussions that have gone on for years testify to this.

And the only reason we are making progress is because we are digging into Gods word
and declaring His truth from the rooftops, no compromise, we have the victory in the cross.

It is this truth that brings hope, and people living it day in day out to His glorious praise.
So brothers let us light the fire, and pray that we might get the vision of this glorious walk
of love and unity in the Spirit of Christ, and help our weaker brothers and sisters to share, be
open and walk in the light and so find healing and refreshment for their souls.

I agree with what you have just said.
But here is where the disagreement and arguing begins.

When someone teaches that a person who freely admits that he fails from time to time is a slave to sin, is not born again, or has lost his salvation.

That is judgemental on their part. And that in its self is sin.
There are some on this forum who do not realize that they are committing sin by judging and falsely accusing others.

We really do need each other. One brings up a topic and someone else reminds of a piece that also must fit into it or we have an unbalanced view, not taking into account part of it. I love it when we can learn that way. It's like we are all cooking dinner together, each adding an ingredient or verse He has given us to add. :)

[also for me anyway] hearing or listening means much more than hearing with our ear or reading and studying; it means to submit to and rely upon His Word; for this cause did the Lord also warn us saying:

"And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46)

I have recalled a verse that fits in with your wonderful op, peter. It was said by His mother, Mary, at the wedding in Cana.
She said, Do everything He tells you. So they did everything He said even though it sounded odd, and because they did everything He told them, they saw a miracle!

This explains why we see few miracles, when we find that we thought we were doing everything He told us but then He shows us where we weren't. So...do everything He tells you and then wait to truly see miracles!

There is a dividing line between those commited to walk as Jesus walked,
and those who want the benefits but are not commited to the walk.

I think it is not unreasonable to encourage believers to question their own position, based
on their level of compromise.

There are those who believe to even express we can walk like Jesus is sin.
So they denigrate and attack the integrity and motives of those who share from
their life and the word. It is up to each of use to see who is flinging stuff around
and who is being a testimony to the Lord.

I personally have been surprised as some reactions I have seen, and when I get
involved in calming it down, usually I become the target also. Such things are
very emotional and people carry many scars from previous adventures into this
arena. I know in my heart at times I felt very hurt by the church, a place I expected
enthusiasm, which turned out to be mixed and muted. If was my fault and my failure,
but such things mean we often carry burdens without realising it.

I say this truly in a humble way, because my heart is that we walk and find the Lords
heart and His intention, no matter how difficult it is to find or share. We can do this
together as a body, because that is part of the Lords story to us, my brothers and
sisters in the Lord.

The miracle that is wonderful when Gods people can share love with one another,
and find the bond of peace, not in an overly involved way, but in a boundary led,
responsible many ministering the Holy Spirit one to another. I have yet to see this
but we are getting closer.

I realised on reading 1 John today, I see things I never saw before because doors
are open in my heart and expectation that shut out meaning before

We get closer to it as He changes US. Not everyone else, but ME. :)
To try to explain how He does it is impossible. He just does it and suddenly I have more light and understanding. But to get there, I lived through a great struggle. But once I get there, He has grown me in virtues like...humility. Because I suddenly see that everyone else was not my problem but that I was the problem, that I was the one hindering my own self! It is all too amazing to comprehend fully how He works. His ways leave me completely dazed and dumbfounded sometimes. Through all my struggling and kicking about, He was secretly working in me somehow...and I just wanted it to end, when He was doing something amazing and preparing me for more light...at a certain point, it all defies words...! So you just sit there in wonder saying, there are no words for this! :)

Yes, around here you find people telling others what to do/should be doing and seldom speak of themselves and their own weaknesses.
