'For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.' - 1 John 3 vs 20

Hello Dearly Beloved in the LORD JESUS. A Happy New Year 2017 to you. This marks the first Grace Article of this year 2017, and it's my pleasure and eternal Joy to bring to you the Word of the Grace of GOD revealed in Christ JESUS for the comfort of your souls and as many that are hurting and depressed. Be Lifted!

Our opening scripture is graceful. Unfortunately it has been read severally by Believers, but the understanding has seemed to be hidden from them. So by the auction of the Holy Spirit, I wanna reveal to you the Truth embedded within that line.

Two great factors are brought to mind in that passage where we read from. One is the factor of 'Our Heart', and the second is 'GOD'. Uhmmm. It says 'if our heart condemn us'. That means it is not GOD that convicts us when we sin, but our own minds. Heart and mind are the same things scripturally. The Bible reveals in John 16 vs 8;

'And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment...' - {KJV}

And in the verse 9 and 10 HE explains;

'Of sin, because they believe not on me;

Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more...' - {KING JAMES VERSION}

You see that?

The word 'reprove' as used in the verse 8 is translated in the Greek as {elegcho}, and it means to convince. Hallelujah! So what is HE saying, HE is saying the Holy Spirit will convince the world (sinners) of sin, HE will convince them of their sins, HE will convince them in their conscience that they are sinners. And why is HE doing this? Well,for their good; so they can give up on their self and cling to their Saviour JESUS CHRIST! Praised be GOD forever. AMEN. This is GOD'S Earnest Desire. - Selah. Then HE went further and said that the Holy Spirit will reprove the world of Righteousness because HE (Jesus) Himself was going to Heaven where HE came from, and the disciples would see HIM no more. And I explained this to you in my previous teaching what this meant. Why was the Holy Spirit gonna be convincing them of Righteousness because JESUS was going? That tells us that while JESUS was with them, HE played that role, HE convinced them of Righteousness apart from works. Many times HE did this. At a point on a particular day, the disciples ate with their bare hands which was contrary to the Law and Tradition of the elders, and the Pharisees came on JESUS and murmured concerning the disciples. JESUS out-rightly defended the disciples, letting the Pharisees know that a man is not condemned by what goes in but by what comes out. See - Matthew 15 vs 1 - 20. You see, at several points, both recorded and not recorded, JESUS convinced HIS disciples of Righteousness apart from the works of the Law. Now this JESUS was going, then HE lets them know that the Holy Spirit who HE will send will continue from where HE stopped. Hallelujah! I like this.

So we've seen how that it's not the responsibility nor the job of the Holy Ghost to convince us of sin (our sins), but the Bible has made it known to us from our opening scripture that our own heart, our own mind is the very one who convinces/condemns us of sin (our sins). - Selah

'For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.' - 1 John 3 vs 20 - {KJV}

Now back to the beginning. It says, if our heart condemn us, GOD is greater than our heart. What does this means? 'GOD is greater than our heart'. Remember I pointed out this two factors earlier, 'Our Heart' and 'GOD'. The statement 'If our heart condemn us' tells us that our mind has a voice, because condemnation comes by words. - Selah. That must mean that GOD has a voice also. I want to show to you what the Bible means by 'GOD is greater than our heart'. This is what many Believers have not understood in this passage of the Bible. So we see another two (2) factors; The voice of the heart/mind, and the voice of GOD. The voice of the mind is the voice of condemnation, and the voice of GOD is the voice of Grace. Uhmmm you are getting it. But before we go there, I have a question: Why is it my mind condemning me? It's simple. It's because the mind knows the Law. Yes. Now note what happened in the Garden of Eden, the Bible says the moment Adam ate of the fruit of the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil, their eyes were opened, and they knew between good and evil. {Genesis 3 vs 5, Genesis 3 vs 22}. You see? Naturally man by default knew what was good and evil after that grave disobedience. Yea. By this rule, Cain knew he had done evil by killing his brother Abel. He didn't need a Law to know that; Lamech knew he had done wrong by killing a young man. {Genesis 4 vs 23}. He didn't need a Law to know that. So why did GOD give the Law? GOD gave the Law not to make men know that they have done wrong, as man knows that by default, but GOD gave the Law so that sin could be imputed; because it's impossible to impute sin where there is no Law. - Selah. Until there is a Law that says anybody caught with unlicensed gun is a criminal, nobody will be tagged criminal for holding an unlicensed gun. You see;

'...For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.' - Romans 5 vs 13 {KJV}

You see that? Before the Law was given by Moses, men practiced sin and lived in the same, but it could not be legally imputed unto them as sin because there was no Law; hence they lived on in sin freely and GOD could do nothing more than sending fire to consume them and sending water to consume them again. But how long can HE do that? what will it change? Nothing! So HE gave the Law, so that men can come to the end of themselves when they realize they are weak and cannot keep them, and been held in that guilt of sin, they look up for a Savior who HE was to send. Hallelujah!

'Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.' - Romans 3 vs 19 {KJV}

You see that? Are you learning something? So we see the purpose for which GOD gave the Law, to make the world guilty before HIM, which makes their soul desires a Savior. Hence when the Savior is come, they will rejoice, cling to HIM, be Relieved, be Transformed, and become HIS forever. So the Holy Spirit said to me the introduction of the Law was GOD'S ultimate strategy to reconcile man genuinely unto HIMSELF. - Selah

Therefore, we know that the mind naturally knows the Law of good and bad. When the mind condemns you when you do wrong, GOD wants you to know that HE is bigger than your heart (or mind). In other words, the voice of Grace, the voice of HIS Righteousness is greater than the voice of condemnation and guilt. Yes you did it. Accept it. But recognize the voice of Grace which says this to you;

'Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.' - Romans 3 vs 20 {KJV}

If GOD does not justify us based on our obedience to the Law, it means that your last sin, my last sin didn't change anything between you and GOD, between GOD and I. - Selah. What does GOD therefore justify us by? What's GOD'S Standard of Justification knowing that it is not by our obedience to the Law?

'In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.' - Jeremiah 33 vs 16 {KJV}

The LORD our Righteousness. Ooo Hallelujah! When GOD looks at us, the Righteousness HE sees is not ours, but JESUS' because the LORD is our Righteousness. Therefore we are forever HIS Beloved, we are forever accepted by GOD irrespective of our sins. Glory to GOD. This is why it is called Grace, this is why it is called Gospel (Too good to be True News).

Hallelujah. We now see from this teaching that the life of a Believer is all about JESUS. It's all about HIM, none about us; we are failing, HE is Perfection; we are sinners, HE is Righteous; we fail, HE stands; we are weak, HE is strong; we commit the offence, HE is our Righteousness! Boiiii Hallelujah! Can you join me Praise this Great GOD! Can you join me celebrate this JESUS? Ooooo Why not go ahead now and worship HIM, thanking HIM for such a Grace and Salvation, and for the Privilege to partake of this Grace. Thank GOD I was born at such a time as this. Ooooo what an assurance of Heaven, an unmovable assurance. See you in Heaven!

GOD Bless You.

The Lord is our righteousness. Amen to that.

However the HOLY Spirit DOES CONVICT people of sin.

The human heart is deceitful. It wants to pretend to be right when it's wrong. It lies to itself that sin isn't that bad.

The Holy Spirit reveals that it IS bad and wrong and we need to repent.

However the difference between conviction and condemnation is that conviction is followed by grace and forgiveness. Condemnation causes fear and hopelessness.

When the HOLY spirit convicts He also says repents and turn back to God and be healed.

Condemnation says you will NEVER be good enough and tries to beat you down and keep you away from God.

I don't know how you can quote the below verse

John 16:8
"And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment

Yet still make this statement

So we've seen how that it's not the responsibility nor the job of the Holy Ghost to convince us of sin (our sins), but the Bible has made it known to us from our opening scripture that our own heart, our own mind is the very one who convinces/condemns us of sin (our sins). - Selah
That is a lie and goes against scripture.

Jeremiah 17
“The heart is deceitful above all things,
And desperately wicked;
Who can know it?
I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
Even to give every man according to his ways,
According to the fruit of his doings.

I believe that we new creations in Christ have a new heart now after the cross and resurrection. We too have died on the cross with Christ and have risen with Him to newness of life.

Here are the scriptures that indicate this truth to us. We are new creations - not new evolutions. We go grow in our understanding of Christ and this will show outwardly in our behavior but our true self - our new heart remains intact.

Thank God that the gospel of the grace of Christ has given us believers a new heart!

I believe that scripture teaches that we have new hearts now in Christ as a new creation in Him. In the Old Testament David cried out prophetically "Create in me a clean heart O God". Jesus Himself says to "clean up the inside of the cup and the vessel will be clean".

We don't need to search our hearts for wrong things - we need to have our minds renewed to the truth of Christ living in us now. It's the flesh that "speaks" to us as all the "works" in Gal 5 are from the flesh. We are not "in the flesh" as Paul says in Romans 8:9 - but we are "in the Spirit" - our inner man in Christ.

We need as Christians to learn to live from this new heart that was "created" in us because of Christ's finished work for us.

I firmly believe we are confusing the "desires of the flesh which still has the law of sin in it" ( Romans 7:23 ) and wrongly calling it our heart.

We have been circumcised with the circumcision of the Heart - called the circumcision of Christ and the body of flesh. Col 2:11. This is also called "being sealed by the Holy Spirit" Eph 1:13

The Holy Spirit "cut away" ( as in physical circumcision ) the body of the flesh from the inner man who is in Christ - the new creation - created in righteousness and holiness. Eph 4:23

Here are the reasons why I believe we Christians have a new heart now in Christ and not a corrupted heart. We need to learn how to live from this new heart which is where Christ is in us as one spirit by the Holy Spirit.

The believers new heart in Christ is created in righteousness and holiness: First it was prophesied in the Old Testament.

Ezekiel 36:26 (NASB)
[SUP]26 [/SUP]
"Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone ( old man ) from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. ( new man in Christ )

Romans 2:29 (NASB)
[SUP]29 [/SUP] But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but
from God.

By grace we have been given a new heart that is obedient.

Romans 6:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you
became obedient from the heart
to that form of teaching to which you were committed,

God cleaned house and moved in. God will not dwell in unrighteousness. God through the Holy Spirit is in our inner man now.

Ephesians 3:16-17 (NASB)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power
through His Spirit in the inner man,

[SUP]17 [/SUP] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith
; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love,

God sealed us and gave us the Holy Spirit in our new hearts.

2 Corinthians 1:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] who also sealed us and gave us
the Spirit in our hearts as
a pledge.

We have the Spirit of God's Son in our hearts now.

Galatians 4:6 (NASB)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] Because you are sons, God has sent forth
the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

God has cleansed our hearts by faith.

Acts 15:8-9 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] "And God, who knows the heart, testified to them
giving them the Holy Spirit, just as He also did to us;

[SUP]9 [/SUP] and He made no distinction between us and them,
cleansing their hearts by faith
.

We love from our hearts now as it is pure.

1 Timothy 1:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] But the goal of our instruction i
s love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.

2 Timothy 2:22 (NASB)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who
call on the Lord from a pure heart. (
this is a believer in Christ..hang around them )

1 Peter 3:4 (NASB)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]
but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.

There are more but this should work to show that the believer has a new heart in Christ.

We still have the flesh to deal with in our bodies and we are admonished to not to yield to that...but all that is a different subject.

The danger lies that when God convicts you of some wrong doing you are doing. Instead of repenting and acknowledging you are wrong and asking for God's forgiveness.,,,you reject God's correction and claim its from your flesh, when the conviction is from God and His Holy Spirit.

Depression isn't feeling guilty about sinning

Depression is a complex thing with several aspects appearing at the same time,
ONE of them is often stated as "feeling guilty and deserving to be punished", but just that one aspect does not equal depression.

Sure some people are incapable of forgiving themselves and that can lead to depression,
but ordinary guilt, that leads us to change our ways for the better, that is the holy spirit talking

I agree...often people will say "God told me to do this" - when in reality it is the flesh doing it. I have heard people say that "God told me to leave my spouse because He wants me to be happy." or at the more extreme end - "God told me to go shoot the abortion doctor because his sin is grevious to the Lord."

I think the answer to this is what Paul said "Walk by the spirit and you won't fulfill the lusts of the flesh to do "it's" desires."

I think the Lord uses many different ways to convict ( the Greek word means to convince ) us what is a product of His life and what is a product of the flesh. There is only the spirit and the flesh in the believer that is in Christ. We do have outside influences that can speak to both the spirit and the flesh.

One thing to consider concerning "Your heart condemns you" in 1 John 3:20 is that the Greek word for "condemn" means "to know something against" - like a past sin which you did but it is forgiven by the blood of Jesus.

This "guilt of the past sin" is not placed right within our minds and thus can negatively affect us.

This is where God knows the truth better because the blood of Jesus speaks of better things.

We can say that satan has no part in me. My history declares the effectiveness of the Blood of Jesus. Anytime we visit the events of our past apart from the Blood of Jesus - we visit a lie because it no longer exists in the kingdom. My history shouts the effectiveness of the Blood of Jesus.

Knowing this truth protects our hearts and minds from the fiery darts of the evil one.

Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary
3:16-21 Here is the condescension, the miracle, the mystery of Divine love, that God would redeem the church with his own blood. Surely we should love those whom God has loved, and so loved. The Holy Spirit, grieved at selfishness, will leave the selfish heart without comfort, and full of darkness and terror. By what can it be known that a man has a true sense of the love of Christ for perishing sinners, or that the love of God has been planted in his heart by the Holy Spirit, if the love of the world and its good overcomes the feelings of compassion to a perishing brother? Every instance of this selfishness must weaken the evidences of a man's conversion; when habitual and allowed, it must decide against him. If conscience condemn us in known sin, or the neglect of known duty, God does so too. Let conscience therefore be well-informed, be heard, and diligently attended to.
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
For if our heart condemn us - We cannot hope for peace from any expectation that our own hearts will never accuse us, or that we ourselves can approve of all that we have done. The reference here is not so much to our past lives, as to our present conduct and deportment. The object is to induce Christians so to live that their hearts will not condemn them for any secret sins, while the outward deportment may be unsullied. The general sentiment is, that if they should so live that their own hearts would condemn them for present insincerity and hypocrisy, they could have no hope of peace, for God knows all that is in the heart. In view of the past - when the heart accuses us of what we have done - we may find peace by such evidences of piety as shall allay the troubles of an agitated soul, 1 John 3:9, but we cannot have such peace if our hearts condemn us for the indulgence of secret sins, now that we profess to be Christians. If our hearts condemn us for present insincerity, and for secret sins, we can never "persuade" or soothe them by any external act of piety. In view of the consciousness of past guilt, we may find peace; we can find none if there is a present purpose to indulge in sin.

Some would accuse me of "going after" or "feuding with" G777 because we believe differently, or because I feel a right to do so as if this is my forum.

That is the first bold-faced lie.

The "real" problem here is that G777 twists scriptures, Greek dictionaries, & finally, public opinion.

"Oh, but you're starting trouble in this thread & destroying reputations of people because they don't agree with you". That's just someone getting their five minutes of fame playing the "righteous referee".

The real truth is, G777 is again twisting everything he can to sockpuppet his agenda, & that's to deceive everyone in the BDF.

You can't read Greek dictionaries & commentaries & make such an honest mistake as this.

This proves two things:
1. G777 is twisting scripture & Greek dictionaries because his doctrine doesn't exist in them & he can't find a single legitimate source to validate it.
2. This deception is deliberate, and his wickedness proven.

No amount of softness & finesse in his posts can justify his wickedness.

The bottom line? He is what he is..... a deceiver & a liar.

If anyone has a problem with that, fine..... EVERY TIME he posts more of this, I will continue to expose his lies & deceit with Greek dictionaries & commentaries until no doubt remains.

If I am warned? I will post that, too.

In the mean time, you accusers of my posts need to examine the facts & get your stories straight, or else I'll have to justify my posts with reporting such people with explicit details & facts of the accusation.

I don't see G777 as the main problem here, absolutely not. What I see is spiritually blind people & spiritually lazy people letting him do what he does. It's their fault!

I suppose we could say that Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old Testament and New Testament Words is lying to us too and that the Blood of Jesus lies to us as well. Personally I'll stick with these two.

But everyone is allowed to believe what they want on this subject. I believe the Blood of Jesus erases the guilt of past sin and to live in that guilt dis-honors the work of Christ.

The Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ speaks of better things. We have a great salvation in Him because of His love and grace towards us all.

I also wanted to say but time ran out. I will not call anyone a liar and a deceiver if people believe differently on the subject of the Blood of Jesus takes away the guilt of past sin and that living in guilt is not healthy for us believers in Christ nor is it the way of the kingdom for all of eternity.

I realize that we have diffetrent religious backgrounds which have taught us different things. The Holy Spirit will reveal the truth of Christ's wondrous work to us as we rely on Him.

I have found that sometimes my head says "No - that cant be " because I was religiously taught differently - but if I listen to my spirit - my heart on the inside - it is saying "Yes" and His "life" is being manifested!

Having our minds renewed to the truths of the gospel of the grace of Christ is truly wonderful and it releases the life of Christ that is in us to bear His fruit in and through us to a hurt and dying world that needs to see the love and grace of God for them.

Anyway - those are just some of my thoughts....Bless you

[for me anyway] v20. is to say: The establishment of the court of our conscience has God made in every one of us, is for the purpose to either accuse us or to excuse us; to condemn us or to justify us: it is the self-reflecting gift God has given to us: it is that noble excellent ability whereby we take account of ourselves, and accordingly evaluate, determine, and conclude our state toward God; it is a gift from God that acts as a witness.If our conscience condemns us, God does too: for God is a greater witness than our heart, and knows all things, even more than we know of ourselves to be sure.
v21. If our conscience aquit us, then God does too; not because we are right, but because God is: this is the confidence that we know that the judgment of God is according to Truth, and when we are in the Spirit, that is, the spiritual mind and determine and conclude a matter that we not only trust is right, but know is right; Why? because we sought not our own will, but the will of God, because we have denied ourselves (disowned our own will), therefore have we confidence toward God.
