There is a similar silliness that Noah's flood was a mere local event

(again, since the Holy Spirit was unaware of the "globe thingy")

babylon does not exist literally today so what do we do with those verses in reverlation that refer to babylon in the last days?
Some believe it will be rebuilt!!
But like many prophesies God didn't name the literal country or actual things but used symbols and things from the past.
What we need to do is look at the literal and apply the this understanding or the attributes to the end time.

"As it was in the time of Noah" what was it like in the time of Noah? We can read it in Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

We are not given the exact details because than faith wouldn't need to be used, but we are given many insights as to how it will be and what will happen. When we start to believe we understand exactly how God will do things we will most likely be disappointed. Everyone that has set a date for the coming of Jesus has been wrong so far and we need to remember that no one knows the day or the hour.

All the world was known.

The Phoenicians traded the whole world long before Christ. e.g. in the times of Solomon
Have you any proof of this? How many Phoenician artifacts have been found on the American continent or Australia?
Were the Phoenicians Christian? There supposed to be some evidence that the Vikings managed to reach Americabut they were Pagans anyway.
The only people I know who believe in the Gospel being preached in America in NT times are Mormons

The context of Babylon in Rev is that of a false religion supported by 7 empires (Beast). I don't think Babylon, NY fits:cool:
