Default If God called you to Heaven right now, would you be ready?

Or would you put God on hold?

Do you believe God's promise of having a place prepared for His beloved children?

I am not advocating suicide or actively seeking death. I am asking, are you living your life today where you could look down from heaven without regret?

Are you putting off for tomorrow what can be done today?

Are you wasting time seeking money or fame instead of loving God and loving your family and friends?

Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us. Let us treasure the time we have today.

Also do you truly look forward to heaven or do you secretly wish you can enjoy this world more than you want to spend time with God?

Someone made the statement that most people don't look forward to heaven unless they aren't happy with this world. They don't really look forward to spending eternity with God. They just want to escape pain of this world.

    That makes me sad.

I want people to enjoy this world but be ready to leave if God called us home because we trust and believe it when He says what He has for us in Heaven is better than anything in this world.

I wonder about the Bible verse that calls people double minded and adulterers who desire this world more than they desire being in the presence of God or doing His will.

We are told not to love the things of this world. 1 John 2:15

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone
loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

I've been ready to go since the Lord showed me Salvation.

I actually thought He was showing me because I was leaving. But 8yrs later I'm still here.

Maybe I'm not as ready as I think...

Most definitely. Jesus Himself qualified me and has made me ready. I can hardly wait. I get excited when I think of going to be with the Lord.

Every time I think of this - I almost jump out of my skin. Whether in this earth or in heaven with Him our true life is hidden in Him. He Himself is our life.

    Colossians 3:3 (NASB)
3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

I read one time where the Christians in the Roman games were so excited about seeing the Lord that they used to draw straws to see who gets the honor of going first to be killed. They were filled with joy!

The new man in Christ - the new creation that is created in righteousness and

holiness hears the heart voice of the Spirit and not an old head noise of the letter

of the word. The Pharisees knew "bible knowledge" but they did not

know God's heart and so they erred in really understanding what the

    scriptures were saying.

The Lord wants us to look through His eyes and to live from His heart towards

people, towards Him and towards ourselves as well.

An old preacher once said you should be prayed up, paid up and ready to go because Jesus could return at any time or you may put your shoes on this AM but the undertaker could be taking them off this PM.

Great question to ask the unsaved person.

I used to wonder, why anyone who did not believe in God and heaven etc, wanted to go there. It really did strike me as being contradictory, that on the one hand, they thought we had an imaginary friend and were brainwashed and completely incapable of thinking for ourselves, being delusional and believing fairy tales... but, on the other hand, they railed against being shut out of heaven due to their rejection of God. They seemed to think it perfectly logical to want to go to the home of One they insisted did not exist.

Paul was conflicted.....to be with Christ was great gain, but to still be here was also beneficial to those who were being instructed and or the lost he was leading to the truth...........

Too many questions in one go !

Would I be ready?: Depends what you mean by that, I have no desire to stay on earth, but I do so from habit I guess

Or would I put God on hold? : Feels like I already did, because I no longer trust him.
(I can't remember the last time I saw a prayer answered, even if it was for others with many others praying)

Do I believe God's promise of having a place prepared for His beloved children?
    - Yes, but according to many of the people on this site, most of us are destined for hell it seems

Am I living your life today where I could look down from heaven without regret?
    - No, I am not being useful in any way.

Am I putting off for tomorrow what can be done today?
    - Dunno, what are we talking about?

Am I wasting time seeking money or fame instead of loving God and loving family and friends?
    - Kinda hard to do without a job

do I truly look forward to heaven or do you secretly wish I can enjoy this world more than I want to spend time with God?
    - I only truly enjoy this world when I am enjoying nature, exploring new places, or being with people I love , so I don't see it would change much

    PS: I apologize for any typos, it's 3.30 and I can't sleep

Amen....all the people that are going to heaven are going there when they die because they are from there. That is their true country and home.

There was a time I was like that. I was depressed & just wanted to go. I had been thru a lot of aggravation & trial, & didn't know what to do or where to go.

They don't call it "The valley of decision" for nothing.

But, I don't believe that's why others want to go more than stay. A true christian should want to go. It should be a part of their goal, if not the goal, if it means being with Jesus.

I agree...although to live "is" Christ - not for Christ. Christ is our life. Col. 3:3

It's just a small distinction but it can make a profound difference in our thinking especially if we have been taught a performance driven gospel of works instead of a true grace filled gospel which results in the fruit of good works.

This world may not be our home, but Jesus said He was the only One Who came
from heaven. Heaven is the abode of God. We are being prepared for the wedding,
wondering, when is the Bridegroom arriving? He went to prepare a place for us.
