And when Paul commanded that spirit to come out of the soothsayer, he didn't get a response from God?

Amen...That was the Holy Spirit working in and through Paul to command that spirit to come out.

We work with God - not doing things "independently" from God. He works in and through us as we participate in what He is doing.

He is the Head - we are the body. The body gets all it's "directions" from the brain. Without Him we can do nothing.

The problem here is simply one group want to describe everything as God initiates it
even when the story implies a situation occurs and we respond, and God answers.

This group are addicted to saying this is all God, not man, in case you fall into unbelief
and loose your salvation, because you say man is justifying himself before God.

Now we are happy to describe everything as it occurs without commentary, because
everything is in the Lords hands, we do not have to say it that way to show it is, and
to show we are not unbelievers, and religious folk doomed to hell.

It is like a superstition of the black dot, appears and you are marked ready to die.
It shows how dominated these people are and how shaky their faith is in the all encompassing
love of Christ who keeps and preserves all things to His praise and glory.

They obviously feel they are not part of us, yet want to spend their time with us, strange.

I had a discussion with a brother yesterday.

If God discussed a situation with us, His opinion would become a command. We would literally
believe His desire was what he expressed and though He wants us to apply love and choose, he
cannot directly get involved without taking this away.

But God gives us a pure heart, a blameless spirit, a holy outlook and loving motivation and says
go love the people around you. How we do it is our choice, it is our contribution to the ministry.

But some do not know this privilege of being a saint, a child of the living God, made friends to serve.

And when the spirit was cast out, that was the response of God to man, for man doesn't have that power.:)

So, when Joshua told the sun to stand still, he didn't get a response from God?
1. Did he get a response because God bowed to his will?
2. Did he get a response because it was GODS WILL?
3. Did he get a response because he had faith in God. And it was Gods will (anything you ask in my name (in my will)

Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Lamentations 3:37

Who cares? We're only talking about God responding to man, not man forcing God's hand.

In all situations we can only confess what we know. It is dangerous to get into fatalism,
what happens is Gods will, whatever we do is because he decreed it.

Most things can be walked through to finds the Lords heart and will in a situation.
But it is a relationship, where we can petition God for justice, and He will relent as
the parable of the persistent widow demonstrates.

“In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea,

‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’

4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.
Luke 8:2-8

God listens to the prayer of a righteous man.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16

Things are very much two ways with the saints and God.

This Scripture is so great for me, at this point in time. I left work last night literally walking out the door complaining to G-d and asking for Him to help me and wanting to tell Him about my customers in a very bad way (to be honest started to call them not nice cuss words) then saying please forgive me I cannot cuss I am talking to the Most High. Then I went into this big long discourse of life is too much and went down the list of how life sucked in my eyes, then asked for forgiveness for complaining and told G-d I am ready to go home if it was not for having to live to take care of my family I would want to go home, then I started having a panic attack. NOW THAT IS A RUN ON SENTENCE IF I EVER TYPED ONE…LOL. But by time I made it to my car and just cried out and said G-d I need you, BAM HE was there. I was calm. I still had to go home change my dad’s dressing on his leg because he had an amputation, my mom who has MS I had to take care of her and get the trash and take to the curb, and my autistic son after a 12 hour day dealing with “crazy”. But in an instant my Daddy showed up and He healed me. See my G-d bends down to hear me when I say DADDY I HURT, DADDY I NEED YOU, or just simply DADDY. He takes every tear of life and puts in in His bottle and when life is overwhelming my DADDY my GREAT AND MIGHTY G-D comes ridding on the clouds with His bow and arrow and fights my every battle. That’s my DAD!!!! And all I have to take upon me is His yoke which is Him, His Word. He recuses me from the rest!!!!!!! And that burden, obedience really is light!! Because life is not. I do not know how any one can survive without Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
