Putting God First

This is something I need to work on.

How many people really Love God with all your heart and put him first in your lives?* Most of us find it easy to love our children with all our hearts and to put them first.

The world teaches us to put ourselves first. It teaches us to strive for success and this will be measured by our income or material possessions.

When evaluating your life, what would you say it is that you put first, be honest.* I have put myself, my job, and a number of things before God. In a world that's run by money, it's hard to get my priorities straight.

Does anyone else struggle with this? ☺

Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV)
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment

Luke 14:26King* (KJV)
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple

Matthew 6:19
19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.

There is always the pull of us trying to get other things to bring us life but only the Lord in us can do that.

When we become a Christian the only true life for us is in Him.

Focus on the Lord's love for you and the love of God that is in poured into your heart by the Holy Spirit will manifest in expressing that love. Rom. 5:5

Get established in the grace of God and the gift of righteousness and the things of the true Christian life will begin to emerge from inside of you and you will find your mind and thinking becoming new.

I found that when I just rely totally on the Lord and rest in the knowledge that He loves me dearly and that He will direct my paths and that He will be faithful to complete that which He started in me - my mind becomes more stable in it's thinking.

I have many times spoken out loud that - "It is You Lord that is at work in me - both to give me the desire and the capability to do your good pleasure."

When I have done this in the middle of circumstances screaming at me and heavy direct assaults on my mind - it brings me rest as this is my faith in Him in operation.

He will always come through but the way He does it is up to Him. He will be caught in the act of being Himself - faithful and full of surprises.

Philippians 2:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

This is how I put God first. By trusting in Him for all things.

Commit this "putting God first in your life to Him" and He will bring it to pass.

Psalm 37:5 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.

He may use different scriptures then the ones I gave but if you listen to your spirit - your heart on the inside of you - that is where He speaks to us.

I have found that first thing in the morning when I wake up when my mind is still quiet and not filled with other things - that's where I "see" Him speaking or illuminating some things to me. Maybe a better term would be "an inner knowing".

I write those things down and think about them - ponder them - meditate on them and over time they have become clearer and clearer. There is still a battle of faith in times of attacks.

That's why we need to be filled with the Holy Ghost and fire---burns up the trash----if you're from London---rubbish---and gives us a heart set on the Kingdom (Matthew 6:33)...

It's funny that you should say that because I also wait for him when I first wake up! That's when answers to questions that I may have, seem to come to me. ☺

That's cool....:)

I think the reason is that our minds are quiet in the morning. The renewing of the mind is so important as it can short-circuit what is being revealed in our spirits. God is joined with us in our spirit. 1 Cor. 6:17

I found that I need to write it down immediately because once I get up and activated - it becomes a hazy thing so I find when I write it down immediately - I can refer to it in it's clarity.

We have been placed and are in Jesus by Faith (John 14:11). That allows the Holy Spirit to make us what we ought to be, and keep all commands and laws for us which we cannot do ourselves. We make Christ first by Faith exclusively in Him and His Finished Work.
