They failed to enter in because of un-belief. Lack of faith.

Galatians 3:11-12
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Heb 4:5 and in this place again, They shall not enter into my rest.
Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some should enter thereinto,
and they to whom the good tidings were before preached
failed to enter in because of disobedience,

-also God said they will not enter His rest, but they failed because of [disobedience].
about the 7th day Sabbath command. lack of faith that the Sabbath was special

Now you are just trying to make the scripture contradict itself.

Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Romans 9:31-32
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Galatians 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

I appreciate each comment that was made here. We truly are in a Great Controversy. I believe to sove the problem of Sunday observance versus Sabbath observance peel back the layers of world history. God said there would rise up a little horn that would think to change the times and laws. It is in Daniel 7:24,25. We might need to look at history folks and realize why we worship what we worship.

The Sabbath will not save us but it is the relationship in which why we keep it. Do we not want to have a special date with our Redeemer and Creator once a week. As mentioned by others the Sabbath is that day that was set apart for Holy use. Research why you believe what you believe. Are you following the traditions of men or the ways of God. There is only one way, one truth and one life. God bless and God speed.

Exactly! Thank you.

And for the record, Jesus is our Sabbath.
Why do people say that? Jesus is not Sabbath. He does give us rest but he is Jesus not Sabbath. Jesus is not the 7th day, he created the seventh day. His is not Sabbath He created Sabbath.

You want to follow Jesus, Acknowledge who is is an what he has done. This concept of Jesus is the Sabbath is made up nonsense that appears not in the bible.

As you say...the disciples were mainly Jews and KNEW when it was the sabbath - the OFFICIAL HOLY day to attend synagogue/church. When they met on the first day of the week it was for FELLOWSHIP and socialising together over a meal/refreshment/breaking bread together...the common expression of that day. They were obviously eager to discuss the events of the sabbath and what had been preached - this was no religious meeting instead of sabbath. But when disagreements with the Gentiles arose they (as evident from scripture/Acts) Gentiles started their religous meetings on sundays....as if it was their choice !!! Well, they did not know the God of Israel whose Word was Law....they were used to doing as they pleased...as they still do today !
Can you give evidence for this? How do you know that they socialised together in the way you put it? This seems to be an opinion to me not a historical fact.

Abraham was righteous because of faith not circumcision. "Circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter" (from Romans 2:29).
Christ fulfilled and cancelled the legal requirements that were against us because of His perfect life and sacrifice. "He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross."(from Colossians 2:13-14)
We shouldn't judge someone who does or doesn't observe the Sabbath. "Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God." (Romans 14:4-6)
Similarly, Colossians 2:11-23 is about being free in Christ, free from "legalism" and the false humility of rules, regulations and laws that overshadow what Christ's done.

Abraham, a Hebrew, was counted righteous for his faith in God.

Abraham received the Gospel, and a blessing that his descendants would possess the Gate of their enemies.

Possessing the Gate tells me they are inside awaiting their enemies to enter also.

Jesus Christ, of the Tribe of Judah, and Israelite , and a Hebrew is the Gate. He teahes the Faith of Abraham.

He was never a Christian, nor did He teach what we know today as Christianity. He taught His Gosple and the faith of Abraham.

God has made of all the living stones to one day be the Temple into sons of Abraham. I say living stones to one day be the Temple because the Chief and teh Corner Stone of the Temple was rejectd of men and taken to heaven. I say to one day be the Temple of god because Jesus will return to build His Temple.

I know what people are saying when they call themselves Christian, and I also know what it means to be adobpte by God, a living stone of the Temple to be built by Jesus christ, also called Yeshua. Both names are transliterations from teh same source..

Shabbat Shalom ve Good Sabbath to all, be you on the Seventh Day or on the first day.............

There is a simple way of looking at this subject.
One of the main two clauses of the new covenant is that God will write the law on the mind and place it on the heart of the believer.
And through the law we become conscious of sin.

If God commands under the new covenant you observe a set Saturday Sabbath that law will be written on your mind and placed on your heart. If the law is not within you, you cannot be a christian.
Therefore, if the fourth commandment as written has been placed on your heart, you must have heartfelt conviction you sin by not observing it. If you have no such conviction you could not be a christian

What does it take to follow Him (Jesus)? What does following Biblical truth mean to you? Can we truly allow the popular perception of Christianity to mark our own personal journey with Jesus? As God's word says work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Your parents won't get you into heaven. Your preacher, Pastor or Bishop won't get you into heaven. Having a relationship with Jesus is personal. Why have so many fought and died for the truth? Why has Satan used a counterfeit system to darken peoples minds to God's true word. Can we allow society to dictate what our convictions are concerning worship? Look back into the dark ages of this system. They chained Bibles to the walls. We are watering down God's truth to fit what we want God to be. Check out history for yourself. The Waldensians fled Piedmont Italy bring threatened for basing their relationship with God solely from The Bible and the Bible only. I encourage each one of you to study to show yourselves approved that a workman for God need not be ashamed. I encourage you to read a book written by a man John Foxe. It is called Foxes book of martrys. See how cruel the enemy is to those who stand on Biblical truth. Do you even know why Martin Luther tacked 95 thesis on the door? What does it mean to be a Protestant? If we don't know what we are protesting should we call ourselves a Protestant. I am ashamed I let the Bible collect dust for so long. Praise God Be gave me a hunger to learn Biblical truth. Study the prophecies if Daniel and Revelation. See how close we are to Christ's second return. I pray you will want to see truth and consecrate your entire heart to Jesus. Now is not the time to cower. Now is the time to climb.

This is complete foolishness. People are free to observe any day how they want to and Paul made that very clear in the New Covenant.

To say that they are not a Christian because they don't follow the law of Moses way of observing the sabbath is a perversion of the gospel of the grace of God. Jesus Himself is our Sabbath rest and we live from His life inside of us now.

In saying that - to those that feel they want to observe a certain day of rest and this is their day. Happy resting day in the Lord. Enjoy it.

So, you are saying the opposite then?

That if God puts His laws of Christ and life on our hearts in the New Covenant - then if we didn't follow the law of Moses way of the Sabbath - it would convict us - but it doesn't because it is not part of the law that is in our hearts now in the New Covenant.

Is that what you were saying? If so, I apologize to you because then I did read it wrong. Forgive me.

It is written to those who believe God commands a set seventh day Sabbath must still be followed. But at the same time they accept as Christians people who have no conscience they commit sin by failing to observe a set seventh day Sabbath.
That is impossible under the terms of the new covenant. The law God wants you to obey is written on your mind and placed on your heart. So in your mind you instinctively know what that law is and in your heart you want to obey it.
Therefore, you cannot sin in ignorance of it.

I do NOT believe God commands the observance of a set seventh day sabbath, but anyone who wants to observe it is welcome to

I gotcha!

So, this same principle would apply too for those that "think" any part of the law of Moses needs to be observed. From not eating pork, to not letting the sides of your beard be trimmed to even possibly stoning our children if they are disobedient - because these are all in the law of Moses too.

I'm not saying you are saying this - I'm just tossing around this "thing that the laws that are in our mind" are always from the New Covenant perspective. But I do see where you are coming from too as you are really using it to show that the physical observing of the Sabbath day as in the law of Moses is not in the New Covenant.

It's interesting to look at it from the perspective you are offering forth here.

Of course they might come back and say that our minds are seared from our dis-obedience....:)

You mean like.... "Believe on the one He sent?"
I agree Willie-T. I don't think a person can love God if they don't believe He exists. And neither can God be known except we receive the witness of His Son whom He sent and believe on the name of The Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Joh 1:10-12 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (11) He came unto his own, and his own received him not. (12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

Mat 11:27-28
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (28) Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God
who died to save sinners like me, and was raised again according to the scriptures to atone for the living who seek His grace day by day. To all who hope in His mercy and truth; have a peaceful Friday night.

Mat 22:31-32 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, (32) I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
AMEN

I would think it would be exactly opposite.

Those who still try to treat the 10 commandments as carnal commandments that can be fulfilled by flesh and willpower can't have the ACTUAL law written on their hearts and mind, right?

Otherwise they would know that the 10 commandments aren't fulfilled by their carnal will and work, right?

They would stop trying to observe the letter of the law that kills and follow the Spirit that gives life. And they would know the difference between the two.

But what do you say to people who don't know the difference? How can they have the vail over their hearts and minds that is taken away when a person comes to Christ? How can a Christian not come to Christ and receive rest?

I certainly don't know. But there seems to be quite a few here...
