Gal.2:20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Matt.6:26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

1Cor.6:11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

God did not send His son because we were worthy;
He sent His son so we could become worthy.

God did not send His son because we were good;
God sent His son so we could become good.

Not even one of us is perfect and never will be on this earth.
However, that should not keep us from striving for perfection.
We do this according to the examples Jesus gave us and
mostly by giving us His 2 commandments. Love the Lord your
God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
The entire law is fulfilled with in those two commandments.

If you have love you just don't need to have anything else...
if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have

1Cor.
13 If I speak in the tongues[SUP][a][/SUP] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. [SUP]2 [/SUP]If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [SUP]3 [/SUP]If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast,[SUP][b][/SUP] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Rev 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

2Th 1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer.

Without Christ we are not worthy,but with Christ we are worthy,for we put on Christ,and have the righteousness of Christ imputed to us.

When I was first born again, I was tormented by the thought that I wasn't worthy. Then Holy Spirit spoke...you aren't, but I have made you worthy. Things like this has made me appreciate the Written Word of God when Holy Spirit uses truth of Him to vanquish the enemy of our soul with that one rhema Word!

His Word powerfully is Spirit that brings life to our being.

AMEN!!! and also, the love we have for Him is only there because He gifted His love to us. We love Him because He first loved us... we cant love Him unless we get His love gifted to us first. And that is how the entire law is fulfilled., BY JESUS in every way. Its not our love for Him that is the focal point of all things but His love for us. :eek:

I recently heard a Roman Catholic quote Matthew 10:38, which says if we don't take up our cross and follow Christ then we are not "worthy" of Him. He interpreted that verse to mean by worthy, we merit or earn Christ and eternal life. :rolleyes:

I wonder what is in his thinking about taking up his cross? That makes Jesus on the outside and we struggling with life by our own strength. How sad! At least that's the picture I get from that Priests words.

Even Jesus rejected being called good, saying, "Only God is good." :)

Hubby and I choose to believe Jesus and take Him at His Word,
if He says we are worthy, then we accept Him at His Word/Actions...

of course we know where He has brought us from, and are forever grateful beyond words,
but we also know that He makes NO MISTAKES, and we accept this, even if it goes against
our old-world's-grain.,..

Ephesians 4:1 | I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

Colossians 1:10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

1 Thessalonians 2:12 That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

2 Thessalonians 1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

2 Thessalonians 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

Indeed on our own no one is worthy, but as the OP says on the first post "He sent His son so we could become worthy."

With Christ living in us, we can walk worthy of His kingdom and calling. Not perfection (no sinning), but "worthy" (because of Jesus Christ and his forgiveness, cleansing, and grace.

I think we probably all pretty much believe the same thing here - so perhaps our "squabble" about "worthy" is not worthy of so much time!

We become the righteousness of God (2 Cor 5:21) by putting on Christ (Rom 3:22), not through our own worthiness. Christ's righteousness is imputed to us.

Yes, well, we expect the kicking around if we talk about getting to abide more and more. Shakes up the status quo. :)
