Question 2. (second of 16) Where, in scripture, are we commanded to hear God? Yes, there is an answer to this question.
These questions are directed at the Christian scholarly community. So, if you're a scholar, or you know one, then have at it. Answers will, eventually, be provided. All questions, save one, will be answered on the same date. Until then, that date will remain secret. The clock is ticking, so hurry. Hopefully, before then, they'll be answered. Can you beat the clock? "Have a good 'un."
All will be answered save one. That one will stand as a challenge until it is answered.
As these questions will be presented to almost a half million people, I ask you to forgive me if I don't respond to every post from every person. If, and when a correct response is posted, I will, naturally, respond to that. Have fun.

Just FYI..........but methinks folks are gonna tire of your posting so many Threads so quickly without offering any personal opinions of your own.

Not saying you are, but this is a favorite pass time of the numerous trolls that come here to CC. Trying to dominate the First Page of a Forum by posting/authoring so many threads at one time.

Mayhaps you should try one or two, see the response you get............engage in a discussion/if occurs, and then later on, move to your next question/or whatever it is your purpose here is.

There is something a wee bit "fishy" with the way you have come to CC to apparently instruct/inform those who are here. This isn't a Game Show/or any such.........and not sure why you are directing your stuff at the "Christian Scholarly" community?

Anyway, you may not get a lot of responses, or responses of a serious/scholarly nature given the approach you have chosen to take........just saying

Luke 9:33-35
King James Version(KJV)

33.)And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

34.)While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

35.)And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him
.

P_R, I will do that. It makes good sense. As I see now what you percieve--Das is kronk.

Good one. Now that is brilliant--, the mount of transfiguration is an excellent answer. I totally would have forgotten that one. a teacher once told me that this is where the Bible shoots down two ways men avoid listening to God. a) Rather than listen to God, men seek to use Moses (the Bible) or, b) they turn to Elijah (clergy).
if you're here on Wednesday, you will see that the research to this one is a little extreme. But, it's going to save you years of tedious study, and it's quite interesting. The answer makes changes to how we regard the necessity of hearing God. I believe you will all be surprised . I am eager to let the answer out, but I am also curious to see your responses. The mount was a solid return indeed.

ECC. 12:13.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His Commandments:
for this is the whole duty of man.

The Voice

GENESIS 26
[3]Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee,
and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I WILL PERFORM THE OATH
WHICH I SWARE UNTO ABRAHAM thy father;

[4] And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed
all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

[5] BECAUSE THAT ABRAHAM OBEYED MY VOICE, and kept my charge,
MY COMMANDMENTS, my statutes, and MY LAWS.
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Abraham was observing to keep Gods 10 commandments
He heard and obeyed Gods "voice".

DEUT. 27
[8] And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.

[9] And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed,
and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the Lord thy God .

[10] Thou shalt therefore OBEY THE VOICE of the Lord thy God, and
DO HIS COMMANDMENTS and his statutes, which I command thee this day.

The voice

DEUT. 4 [12] And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire:
ye heard THE VOICE of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
[13] And he declared unto you his covenant, which HE COMMANDED YOU TO PERFORM,
EVEN TEN COMMANDMENTS; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

ZEPHANIAH 3
[1] Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!
[2] SHE OBEYED NOT THE VOICE; she received not correction; she trusted not in the
LORD; she drew not near to her God. [3] Her princes within her are ROARING LIONS;
her judges are evening WOLVES; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.
[4] Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary,
THEY HAVE DONE VIOLENCE TO THE LAW.

JOHN 10
[27] MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE, and I know them, and they follow me:
[28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish,
neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Also Gods sheep shall also hear His “voice”.

HEBREWS 4 [6] Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they
to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

[7] Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time;
as it is said, TO DAY IF YE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, harden not your hearts.

This was prophecied to happen.

DEUTERONOMY 4
[26] I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish
from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days
upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.

[27] And THE LORD SHALL SCATTER YOU AMONG THE NATIONS, and ye shall
be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.

[28] And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone,
which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

[29] But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him,
if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

[30] When thou art in TRIBULATION, and all these things are come upon thee,
even in THE LATTER DAYS, if thou turn to the LORD thy God,
and shalt be OBEDIENT UNTO HIS VOICE;

[31] (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God he will not forsake thee, neither
destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

26
For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28
Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming,
in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29
And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Joh 10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold,and one shepherd.

Not sure if this is what you want though.

I agree it would be easier to have all 16 questions posted in one place, but I am looking for all of them like an easter egg hunt because I have liked the first ones I ran across. :)

The first instance I can think of is : Hear oh Israel, your God is one God...think I got that close but paraphrasing...

The living word of God is that which judges us as we evaluate it .It cannot return empty but accomplishes the good purpose by which he commands us. It can draw a person closer or move them further away.I

n that way God has commanded the human race to believe on the Lord Jesus.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Act 16:31

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jo 3:23

Or another commandment..

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15

In that way his law is perfect, it quickens our souls giving us simply one His understanding that needed to search after Him..seeing no man can of His own volition .

Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

I like 1 John 3:23 you posted, good example in my opinion, "that we should believe" means of choice, thus no doubt command to believe but nonetheless it's still a choice on behalf of the believer and that can range in many degrees depending on ones faith. Some can throw a mountain into the sea, some only a pebble into the sea...

From the minute that I returned to the forums, I was attacked, viciously, Well, I really didn't want to return, but God made me. About 23 years ago, I walked away from the forums. Let me repeat, I never wanted to return. God pushed. God said, "They don't even know the definition of sin!" I thought that God was wrong. God was right.

People threatened me, I was called a Heretic and ridiculed. People asked who sent me! People said that I was in it for money! There's no one that cares about you that they would pay someone to come and work here.

My friends warned me about Trolls. There were Trolls here 23 years ago, and when I departed I said that I wouldn't return. I would rather not deal with people like this.

God and I had an agreement. If I saw this was insanely distasteful, I would just leave for 23 years and try again later.

I think that was his long winded round about way of calling us vicious trolls and saying we were insufferable and that God promised him a rose garden but he did not care for threatening thorns, or interacting in any kind of normal fashion on discussion boards, so he has left this site that was not even here twenty three years ago.
