Question 3. (3rd of 16) How do we avoid the fate of the men in Matt. 7:21-23? This regards Matthew 7:21-23. Within those verses is a story of judgement day. God gave us this story in order to cause us to rethink our path. In it, several men stand before God and present their story. These men had done "many wonderful works." "Casting out demons," and "prophesy," are two specifically named works. Despite their wonderful works, God rejects them. He tells them, "be gone from me."
These questions are directed at the Christian scholarly community. So, if you're a scholar, or you know one, then have at it. Answers will, eventually, be provided. All questions, save one, will be answered on the same date. Until then, that date will remain secret. The clock is ticking, so hurry. Hopefully, before then, they'll be answered. Can you beat the clock? "Have a good 'un."
All will be answered save one. That one will stand as a challenge until it is answered.
As these questions will be presented to almost a half million people, I ask you to forgive me if I don't respond to every post from every person. If, and when a correct response is posted, I will, naturally, respond to that. Have fun.

You don't get accepted into the kingdom based upon gifts with were given to you by God himself that you did not have to work for.. gifts such as Casting out demons, Prophesy, and faith in Jesus were all given to you as gifts from God. You did not have to work to receive these gifts. That is why in the parable of the talents which the master had left with his servants, the one who did no other work with his gift was cast out into outer darkness because he reaped where he did not sow.

Now lets take a look at the works he wants us to do
For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, 36I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’…

This set of verses proves a couple of things...

a) They attempted to come by a different door than JESUS (works)
b) Galatians teaches that to mix faith and works FOR SALVATION is a false gospel, no power to save and double cursed
c) Their boast proves they attempted door 'B"

There is none good, no not one!

Miri, I was concerned about getting into trouble. Also, watching 16 threads on one forum is a bit much. I can imagine that I would be typing like a maniac. The question I see here is that these guys were middlin good. God tells them "Be gone from me, I knew you not. Ye that work iniquity." I felt led to focus on the "I knew you not." See what you can find using that.
Excuse me, what did you mean by identical? These are all different questions.

The bit in bold is identical in each question and I really don't understand the bit about putting
your question to half a million people. Or the bit about answers provided except one. Why ask questions
if you think you have the answer? Sounds to me like some sort of advertising/marketing scam
or you want to show everyone else is wrong except you. What's with the ticking clock,
are you trying to draw everyone into a buy one get one free last chance to make a deal scam.

Maybe it would be helpful to let people know why you are really here.

Well, Miri. for example: as a person who has studied Greek, I have done a bit of research and found something interesting. The only way I know to let the church benefit from that is to put some stuff on here for free.

Why do I want to end this endeavor on a given date? I abhor being attacked. For instance, recently, I was told that wolves are bad and the fellow quoted every verse about wolves as could be found. Why? because I made a comment about bringing the lone wolves back to the church. I know to use the term lost sheep instead. Even though lone woves thrive in the wild and sheep are rendered into fertilizer. It isn't worth the effort...

I dont try to do this in my church because I find it makes the minister think I am showing off. Two of my ministers have not studied Greek. It's bad to make a minister look bad. However, to give a gift to the church, we have forums.

You may not hav meant this to be an attack, but that is exactly how I saw it.

The studying of Greek does not guarantee that anyone has received revelation from the Holy Spirit on the scriptures. We are just as dependent on the Holy Spirit to reveal Christ in the scriptures to us as Mary was dependent on the Holy Spirit to conceive Christ in her womb.

Every book written in Greek was written to all those that knew Greek back in those days. That doesn't mean they had the revelation of the Holy Spirit to open up the scriptures so that they could see Christ.

In saying that - I love to look at the Greek too! But I can come up with my own interpretation too without the Holy Spirit and all of us only know in part.

.Grace, Miri was asking a question and was suspicious of my motives. I was using the Greek example as a way to say that I am trying to edify the church with things that they may not know. As for the bit of research that comes from that, so it is with most of the stuff i've decided o give out. If it helps, saves time, benefits the church, I want to share it. I guess that's how I see these forums. I am absolutely delighted to have spent the evening among such AWESOME Christians. You guys are great.
I am having a great experience.

Stones, no. This one will surprise you. I have to say that when God showed it to me, I had to look twice. I would never have found it otherwise.

I hear you and it is a pure motive for sure...:).

I believe the Lord has made the learning of the Greek and Hebrew so easy now because of the tools available to us on and it would benefit anyone that feels they want to study the word that way.

A little research reveals that at least two other forums are being blessed with the same series of questions! :)

There are biblical examples of people "doing these works" in Matt. 7 that were not Christians - they were not in Christ.

There were Jews that cast out devils and prophesied even though they weren't Christians.

Remember when we all see Jesus we will be calling Him Lord whether we are Christians or not and Jesus was talking to "Jews" in Matt. 7.

Jesus told the Pharisees that their "sons cast out demons".

Matthew 12:27-28 (NASB)
[SUP]27 [/SUP] "If I by Beelzebul cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? For this reason they will be your judges.

[SUP]28 [/SUP] "But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Caiaphas the High Priest "prophesied" that someone should die.

John 11:49-51 (KJV)
[SUP]49 [/SUP] And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

[SUP]50 [/SUP] Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

[SUP]51 [/SUP] And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation

Those men are not Christians.... Jesus never knew them.. They are not ""good Christians "" who will be sent to hell..

They shall be religious people who thought they where Christians but who where not..

You guys are really awesome. Good. The question was "good Christians go to Hell?" I asked it just right. Are these fellows Christians? From the evidence presented, most would assume they were Christian. From the evidence presented, these guys were trying to do it right. In fact, they are doing more than many Christians can say they did.
I wish every man in our church was doing wonderful works etc. So, let's get to it.

Here's a little help, a hint: in the sentence "Be gone from me, I knew you not..." is a gem of great worth. It connects to another verse, in another area, and creates a blessing of great worth. The second verse will tell us more about why they were sent away.
