Missing the mark or transgression of the will of God are just two different ways to say the same thing..

It is a Biblical concept that is supported by the Bible that if you know that there is a good deed you should do and you fail to do it then that is sin..

So sin is not just doing something bad , but it is also failing to do something good..

Missing the mark and transgressing no matter what term you like is what all people are guilty off..

Thanks be to our LORD Jesus Christ for taking upon Himself the judgement we deserve for our missing of His mark / trtansgressions against his will..

Johnteel, at least two people have understood you and liked what you shared. You should expect scoffing and attacks. Don't let it stop you from sharing what He shows you.:)

Question 16 (16th of 16) Given the Bible's definition of sin, do you see the problem that immediately arises?

The Greek word used in the Bible (New Testament) is amartais. The definition it gives for sin is, "to miss God's best."

Do you see the problem that arises? This one will be a quick one, I promise. It should close before Wednesday..
Do you have a point to this?
It appears you have a conviction about defining sin, but the truth is sin
was never our problem, it is why we commit sin that matters.

The tree of knowledge of good and evil just provides you with a choice,
it does not provide you with loyalties or relationships which govern which
you follow.

But this simple level of spiritual reality seems to have passed you by.
So what are you contributing?

and you completely missed the point. Or you didn't read his teaching.

Call me stupid, but what is the point?
I am pretty sure what I have in my mind has rejected what was being suggested
so I have not seen the picture.

So it would help me if you could summarise your impression.

Peter, I believe there is a lot of good stuff, yours included, and I thank you for your effort. I am juggling 3 forums and 16 threads, so I may not answer every post. sorry, but thanks. Again as a compliment, I would say you guys are scholars of the first water. I have learned a lot. Especially all the places where the Bible tells us to hear God.

2)
a) contact a Greek scholar to confirm above
b) confirm that there is no "h" in the greek alphabet. The Greeks use an aspirated A to create the h sound.
3) If you are the assured that I am not a "heretic," then we can concede that is a closed matter.

Chester

Been there done that!

(1) I haven't yet heard any minister use that definition except you (if you are one?) - Even if a minister uses that definition that doesn't give it any validation - what matters is what the Bible says about what sin is.

(2) The rough breathing mark over the initial vowel of a Greek word is considered to be part of the spelling of the Greek word and this is the "h" sound that is brought over when the Greek word is transliterated into English - a minor issue really

(3) Are you a heretic or not? We won't know until you tell us what you believe - some of us are really wondering

So go ahead . . . . .

I will second everything Chester said.

From the minute that I returned to the forums, I was attacked, viciously, Well, I really didn't want to return, but God made me. About 23 years ago, I walked away from the forums. Let me repeat, I never wanted to return. God pushed. God said, "They don't even know the definition of sin!" I thought that God was wrong. God was right.

People threatened me, I was called a Heretic and ridiculed. People asked who sent me! People said that I was in it for money! There's no one that cares about you that they would pay someone to come and work here.

My friends warned me about Trolls. There were Trolls here 23 years ago, and when I departed I said that I wouldn't return. I would rather not deal with people like this.

God and I had an agreement. If I saw this was insanely distasteful, I would just leave for 23 years and try again later.
