Proverbs 31 and Psalms 82

Proverbs 31 verses 8-9 says
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Psalms 82 verses 3-4 says
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
I find these verses underappreciated and not applied enough especially in America.

I agree. Our govt, & in some cases, the church doesn't do anything in that area.

They are good Scriptures........but I have to wonder why it was necessary to add "especially in America?"

Do you think the "rights" of such as these are first and foremost in the minds of the Rulers of all other Nations? To even suggest that these rights are important in some Nations could get a person imprisoned or even beheaded.........

To even suggest that Governments/peoples should follow the wisdom contained within the Bible DOES get people imprisoned and beheaded/stoned to death/burned/drowned in more than a few Nations today.

Not sure "especially in America" fits here............

Should have said especially as American Christian. These verses apply since America is declining due to problems like higher child poverty, wealth inequity, lack of some form of universal health care,etc compared to other western countries.

what is sad, is the group that claims to speak for them, and are currently all over the country and rioting are the main reason for that to be happening.

I do not think it is the churches.. Most churches I know of do all they can to help the poor. and needy

if it were not for most of our teenage children and young adults are buying into the stuff. I would agree..

The young have always been more liberal minded........God willing, and they live long enough, their views change with time, age and experience...........

Was it Churchill who talked about this? If your under 30 and you are not a liberal you don't have a heart.......if you are over 30 and you are not a conservative, you don't have a brain............something like that



The Media is pretty much worthless............we just need to educate our children to this..........but, given that now most of the youth get their NEWS from various Social Media outlets..........we can not control it

Dare I suggest that one important fact about Proverbs 31 is being overlooked?
