Unbelieving, unclean, devil who betrayed Jesus (John 6:64-71; 13:10-11); woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born (Matthew 26:24); son of perdition (John 17:12). That says it all, unlike the thief on the cross.

In John 6:64, Jesus said - But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. From the beginning of what? I would say from the very beginning, yet some people believe that Jesus was taken by surprise by the betrayal of Judas and did not know he would betray Him until the beginning of His betrayal.
Luke 24: [SUP]25 [/SUP]He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! [SUP]26 [/SUP]Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” [SUP]27 [/SUP]And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
Jesus himself told the apostles what was to come and what had been written and what had been prophisied. In my view, Judas had no idea that sanhedrin was going to turn Jesus over to the Romans to be killed. I believe Judas thought that Jesus was going to make an account to the high priests which they would understand. Thus Jesus would prove once and for all that He was the Son of God. It was after the crucifixion that Judas saw how wrong he was and threw away the silver and hung himself. Judas' only sin would be that he didn't believe that Jesus would forgive him. In the end though, the death of Christ as a sacrifcial Lamb was written long before Jesus was even born. To say that the evil one entered Judas makes no sense.

Jesus knew....and even stated that he was a devil form the beginning....Many try and say that Judas had no choice and or was destined to be the one who sold Jesus out with a kiss...God prophesied about Judas because He knew the choice Judas would make before hand....

Judas also embezzled money from what people donated to Jesus ministry. That was why he was mad that expensive oil was poured on Jesus before his death.

In John 13:18, Jesus said - I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, 'He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.' It was also no secret to Jesus that Judas was an unbelieving, unclean devil who would betray Him! (John 6:64-71; 13:10-11).

Jesus was both God and man. He had two natures. He was divine and human at the same time. As a man, Jesus cooperated with the limitations of being a man. In Luke 2:52, we read - "Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Therefore, at this point in His ministry He could say He did not know the day nor hour of His return.

It's not a denial of His being God but a confirmation of His being man. Just because this was temporarily veiled to Jesus as a man does not mean that He did not know from the beginning who did not believe and who would betray Him (John 6:64).
Those highlighted words are found in psalms also

I have prayed many times for those that have gone before us. God has always existed and hears all prayers before He even created the universe. I have prayed for Judas as well. Interesting, in that he was the only apostle that Jesus ever called 'friend' and that was at the moment of betrayal.
He calls the other apostles friend too.

John 12
Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
But one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray Him, said, “Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

Amen...and then from there after the cross and resurrection we go on to become children of our loving Father. In being children we participate in the "family business" of exhibiting the kingdom of God in His love and grace. We make ourselves "bond-slaves" to the family business.

Declaring ourselves to be these bond-slaves before knowing we are children of God first will hinder our faith and delay our being made a true bond-slave under the Lord's direction in the family business of manifesting the true kingdom of God to the world.

It is terrible that Judas didn't get to experience this becoming a true child of God through the Lord Jesus Christ even though Jesus called him - friend.
