What do you do if you think you might have sinned, but aren't completely sure? Should you repent and would that be true repentance?

Really you aren't completely sure? Isn't it more like you really don't want to admit it? You're sure just reluctant to face it. The Holy Spirit is always accurate on the matter of sin. If He is bringing conviction then it's sin.

Hello and greetings Rossella,

When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, part of His example was "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. That said, in my daily prayers I ask God to forgive me for any and all sins that have committed against him, whether in deed or in thought. If I commit a sin that the Spirit has specifically convicted me of, then I also address that individually.

Hope this is beneficial to you

Of course, we have all sinned. However, not everything is a sin. Are you breaking one of the Lord's commandments? If so, repent. In other words, strive not to commit that sin anymore.

I'd suggest finding out if it's a sin at all. There are some things the bible lists directly as sin, but there are others that are more subjective to the individual. If the bible isn't clear on it then if you think it's wrong, it's a sin. But there's a good chance, if you're even asking, it is a sin.

The woman taken in adultery....don't recall her repenting, but rather Jesus not condemning and simply telling her to go and do it no more.....

Well, nothing eternally. We're saved through faith and once we're saved, nothing can separate us from God. However, it's a terrible feeling to feel like one might have done something wrong, and while nothing one can do can ever make up for sin, Christians are called to acknowledge their sin and repent.

1. Does it involve hurting someone else?

2. Is it a broken promise?

3. What can you do to make it right and just?

4. Have you prayed and asked God?

1. No.

2. No.

3. Nothing. Only God can forgive sin.

4. Yes. I'm still not sure.

Hello Willie,

What is going to happen to you if you do not perform a re-penance.

Ephesus:

"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
Consider how far you have fallen!Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

Pergamum:
"Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."

Thyatira:
"
I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

Sardis:
"Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.

Laodicea:
"
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent."

The scriptures above were addressed to five of the seven churches and to all believers in the church from beginning to the end. Whenever believers are not living according to God's will, he desires repentance.

after conversion, if our steps take us away from our Saviour and His Sacrifice, and if we see
ourselves going in a back-wards direction, then, HELLO, we definitely need to 'repent-work-
on-overcoming what is keeping us out of our Father's Will/Spiritual Growth...
if we really CARE, then 'Conviction/Results' will over-take us and we will be our own true Witness
in deed and knowledge, that our Heavenly Father has so lovingly 'gifted' us with...

You real sure you have that in the order the Bible speaks of it?

Well, of course one has to repent to be saved, as part of trusting God's salvation. But even after we're saved, we still sin. When we do, we're called to repent for those sins. There might not be eternal consequences anymore, but we still are called to acknowledge our sin and reject it.

Now, THAT time, you expressed it Biblically.

I never meant to insinuate one didn't mean to repent. It just seemed obvious to me that having faith meant one would already have repented. Sorry for the confusion.

It's not you rossella...some members have a profound dislike for the word repent.

I want to post happy words of encouragement, but actually feeling kind of run down myself.

Even at my lowest point i can offer to pray with you, read some scriptures, listen to music as we wait upon the Lord.

Dear God we need you.
