Is that what it means?

It seems rather open for interpretation, doesn't it?
Maybe it's like I often say here about interpreting the Bible. You will usually find whatever you are looking for. I know Bruce, and I usually know what he tries to teach. He's a good man, and consequently, I look for good when he writes.

If, on the other hand, I was to try and look for something else, I just might find whatever it was I decided to look for.

Some would say Jesus has become just about anything for us.

What the end result becomes is that Jesus is everything. Normally that wouldn't be a problem except we end up still having no power, no ability, & no absolute change, for they claim we don't need nothin' 'cause Jesus is it.

The sinner can say that & claim salvation without a changed life.

Scripture says we should follow the example of Jesus..... how do we do that? God gives us the power to become the Sons of God thru accepting Christ. He created us unto good works.

Yet those with nothing, No new ability, No major changes, No power with God claim Jesus is everything & that makes it alright.

I believe we live in a time when christians need to speak matter-of-factly & plain so that it's not open for interpretation. We need to be clear in our speech so no one can take advantage of it.

Hmm! I saw the title of the thread, and thought I might add a verse for the women, and the men who love them. Make of it what you will.

30 "Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised." Prov. 31:30

Or is this off topic?

Should we have to guard our speech and carefully select our words around sisters and brothers...... or should we trust that they will try a second and maybe a third time to read our hearts expressed in our posts....... and if they still doubt us, should they not simply ask for clarification?

But do we really want to live at the beginning of anything. Do we not want to grow, to flourish to love the Lord with all our hearts; our neighbors as ourselves. After all Jesus did say that love fulfils all the law. That doesn't mean the law is ignored, it means that by loving each other, we've done all that Jesus commanded us to do. So let's look beyond the beginning of wisdom toward its completion.

2 Timothy 1:7

[SUP]7 [/SUP]For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

1 John 4:
[SUP]13 [/SUP]This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. [SUP]14 [/SUP]And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. [SUP]15 [/SUP]If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. [SUP]16 [/SUP]And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. [SUP]17 [/SUP]This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. [SUP]18 [/SUP]There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

Be not afraid said Jesus...He goes before us always. Our God is a God of love and mercy; the entire Bible leads towards that. In the end we have nothing to be afraid of, in fact, he will nestle us in His arms :D.
This is a good post.

Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

Reminds me of the verses that state that the law is profitable because it is a taskmaster that leads people to Christ.

Once we are in Christ, perfect love cast out fear.

You speak as if everyone in the BDF are christians..... we're smarter than that, aren't we?

I do suppose we should ask for clarification, & then tell them to speak plainly.

Those others will ALWAYS attack anyone. The fiery darts should not be coming from other believers.

Christian principles should be stated in simplest terms for all to understand, especially babies & sinners. We're here to edify others, not to confuse them.

We have to think, and use our hearts. LUKE 14:26 would confuse the heck out of anyone if they did not read it with love.

I have seen two specific kinds of evangelists. The first is the fear speaker preaching about hell and God's wrath and calling everyone sinners they believe that using fear to bring people to God is the way to do it in their minds if you make people fear hell you can get them to heaven, the only issue is this tactic only creates more fear speakers and people tend to be filled with fear for every wrong thing they do. Oh they fear God all right so much so they never get to know him or his love.

Then there are those who preach an speak of his love and in his love yes they speak of hell and want people to be saved but they don't desire people come to him in fear only in love. The vastly different effects that fear and love have on people is seen all the time

I agree. People who love will want to edify others, & to do that must be plain spoken.

Now that's not so hard, is it?
:)
Would Jesus say it is up to us, the readers, or the writer? Maybe they are already saying it as plainly as they know how.

Stephen, there is not a single person on earth that won't confuse you sometimes by you not understanding what they mean or intend by something they say. We could all agree to use ONLY the word pickle to mean predicament and STILL there would be confusion and some taking offense that a great trial in their life was being referred to as a mere pickle. This is why we have to talk and ask what a person MEANS when they say pickle! Why would our first reaction be to take offense? Our first reaction should be a desire to understand what they MEAN, not accusations!

I've had people ask me:eek:h, so you're a religious person? And I can't even answer them except to say: that depeends on what you mean when you say the word religious!

Does God come to us in fear or love? Both, at my salvation experience I had never read the bible and God came to me in intense love but He also told me that in my present condition I was headed for hell, and He made it plain that Hell was one horrible place. If it is really God speaking to you He will present both sides, the love of God, and the fear of hell.

I often tell them, "I sure hope not." and I proceed to explain the difference as I see it.
