Is it true that only 144,000 people are going to heaven (Revelation 7:4)?

Jesus spoke to all of us the Bible is written to all of us. To say Jesus spoke only to any one particular group is dreaming.

Scripture makes very clear that Jesus spoke to that generation of Israel in parables in fulfillment of the prophesy in Isaiah. I mention this because people are always attempting to use that in order to demonstrate that literal scripture is meant as being symbolic, metaphoric or allegorical. Jesus spoke in parables to that generation of Israel, but the knowledge of the kingdom has been given to us. Please just read the scripture below:

The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”He replied,

Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. This is why I speak to them in parables:
“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah:“ ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

For this people’s heart has become calloused;
they hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’

But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Jehovah's Witnesses are liars, deceivers and have no clue what the bible teaches...they are a cult that denies the divinity and deity of Jesus...

The answer is NO.....the number in heaven is beyond the ability of man to number.....end of story!

Jehovah's witnesses are misguided..

The 144,000 only refer to the number of Jewish innocents that will be redeemed during the last days tribulation and wrath of God..

The number of people saved how ever cannot be counted by man because it will be so great.. as the Bible says ::

Revelation 7: KJV
[SUP]9 [/SUP]After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

No, I certainly do not agree upon this. From my understanding, the 144,000 are sealed by God and are to witness in the end times. They will be singing a new song onto the Lord. While they are a select group they are by no means the only ones going to heaven. Anyone that is saved by the shed blood of Jesus dying on the cross for their sins will be God's eternal presence.

I would say its literal 144,000.

Ok lets start with the number 144. I recall on my college days, the fibonacci numbers 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 and so on... starting with number one, 1 then 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 5+8=13 and so on... got the drift? you get 144 as the 12th number in the series. 144 is also the product of 12 square. In one day there is 1440 minutes. So many 12's in the bible. To name a few, 12 apostles, 12 hours a day, 12 hours a night, etc to which God is saying I am in control (as of government).

The 144,000 jews which is 12,000 jews from each 12 tribes (12,000 X 12). The 144,000 then represents salvation or spiritual protection as from the context. To which God is saying I have called this mighty army (12,000) at each 12 tribes (government) to evangelize at this hour (tribulation) protecting them from the anti-christ.

After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.

These are the ones who died in the great tribulation.

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Nothing said about dying, not saying none died but the word says came out.

Yes made up of twelve tribes and twelve foundations . Twelve represents the authority of God. Not gates and no foundations. or foundations and no gates.

Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. and the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.Rev 21:11

13- Dan =12

13- Judas =12

Twelve is the number word used in that parable.

The 144,000 are the saved from the Old Testament. If you read further down, it speaks of another saved group- a group too big to number, who washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb- these are New Testament Christians. There is not one New Testament Christian numbered among the 144,000.

Is there and old Testament Jew and Christian the new name he named us in the new testament that make up that metaphorical number ? They looked ahead by the Spirit of Christ that lived in them as he gave them the faith to believe just as we look back. I would think because Christ makes no difference between an inward Jew and a Christian we would believe what he says. seeing they both receive the end of their faith, the salvation of their souls in the same way, through the suffering of Christ. in them

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.1Pe 1:9
