Maybe if we understood Peter's admonishment - we would stop being babies in Christ and grow up. The religious spirit operates at will in baby Christians as we can see from observation in CC sometimes.

We can be a Christian for 50 years, pastor a church for 30 years, go to church every day, be able to read the scriptures in Greek and Hebrew, pray for 5 hours each day and still be a baby Christian.

The below behavior shows them for what they really are. Nothing wrong with being a baby initially - but it's just time for us to grow up now in the Lord.

1 Peter 2:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]
Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,

[SUP]2 [/SUP] like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,

G777 does have a point about babes sometimes showing a religious spirit, but they usually don't stay around because the christian is growing. NOTICE: this doesn't mean they're possessed, only influenced. However, the majority of people who are led by religious spirits are former christians who are backslid and possibly possessed.

A sure sign of a religious spirit is a person who's very prideful with their religious beliefs. Religious arrogance is always present. Such people can show an attitude of being always right, & will argue without conscience that they are. Some will have a charisma that draws people to them. Some will fight for their cause, I mean actually fight, believing their cause justifies it.

DON'T BE FOOLED! Just because such a person can show good manners doesn't mean they're saved! There's people right on CC who have religious spirits. Some even think they can teach & are constantly reproving people for things that are absolutely absurd.

As a minister with more than 30 years experience, I've seen other ministers with religious spirits, thinking they had special ministries no one else could have.

Most people can already relate to TV preachers that have religious spirits. Make no mistake about it, just because they're a money grubbing fraud doesn't mean they don't have a religious spirit. How do you think they can deceive so many? It's not a scientific program, it's an evil spirit, & usually several.

It's dangerous to get involved with a televangelist with evil spirits in them. Their influence is powerful enough to convince you that their doctrine is true & you're feeling real conviction.

It's not just a professional sham like many think..... It's satanic. It's spiritual warfare. They have real power to deceive the masses.

You can actually tell who is still a baby Christian by their behavior in exhibiting malice and the slandering of others in the body of Christ.

These people could be influenced by religious spirits too if they have been around long enough to not really grow up yet in the Lord.

They exhibit themselves by trying to dominate others and "Lording it over their faith". By ridiculing them in front of others to demean, insult and denigrate them. This also is a manifestation of religious controlling spirits.

In the medical field they call this psychological projection. It's done by those called narcissists. They are controllers, putting one group against another by saying things about the other group while in the presence of the first group.

Spiritually speaking, they are control freaks who will say & do everything & anything to sway you to their thinking, including twisting scripture, commentaries, & other's statements to say what they want.

When they don't get their way, they will play the victim & cower as if being attacked, & make statements as if they are being attacked.

When that doesn't work, they will leave, hoping the whole thing will be forgotten.

They are possessed, usually with multiple spirits.

How am I doing so far?:)

“The world is by no means averse to religion. In fact, it is devoted to it with a passion. It will buy any recipe for salvation as long as that formula leaves the responsibility for cooking up salvation firmly in human hands. The world is drowning in religion. But it is scared out of its wits by any mention of the grace that takes the world home gratis.” - Robert Farrar Capon

That's sad Stephen.

Especially since you said you were a minister.

What denomination are you that would allow this?

Yeah..... imagine comin' on here like this telling the truth. Ain't it just awful?

BTW, don't you believe in the radical grace that doesn't believe in repenting, being convicted, or confessing sin after conversion?

Now you try telling the truth, & see if I tell you how awful it is. I promise to say nothing about your denomination.:)

Surely you are not ashamed of your denomination of which you are a minister?

Haven't you've been reading? I've said many times I'm a Pentecostal.

Now what's yours?

And, are you going to answer my last question?

Sorry, had some stuff to take care of.

And no, I don't believe that what you said about repentance, conviction and confessing sin.

I go to a church that would be classified as charismatic. So I suppose I would claim that as my denomination.

I'm not sure what the difference between charismatic and pentecostal is but it doesn't seem like much...
