Hi Von,

As always, I love the scriptures you choose to share.

They're always a blessing. I'm on overload and have been for a couple of months now. This scripture will help me to go to our dear and precious Lord to find His abundant rest. Yes, that's what I need right now.

Thanks for being God's vessel.

That’s an encouraging verse, friend! It’s so true that we’re bombarded with so many things around us, but God calls us to have rest. Thanks for sharing! I’m sure it’ll bless everyone here. Blessings!

This verse was on my heart tonight, its one i have posted in the past. I felt like someone may need this verse tonight. We all have days when we feel overwhelmed with work and problems with everyday life. We just need that time to get away and spend it with God. I like to take a long drive in the country just me and God. God is a good listener and always bring a peace to my soul.

Matthew 11:28

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Yes, if we would only believe this and lean into it. It's amazing to me how difficult it SEEMS to get our MINDS going in a different direction when we are feeling overwhelmed. But in reality, it is NOT impossible. We only convince ourselves we can't be calm and in control but we do it every day even in our flesh.

Think of this; you're driving down the road and some idiot jerk cuts you off causing you to put your foot hard on the brake. Your first thought is to lean hard on the horn because the adrenaline is flowing after that moment in time. Then suddenly you see it was a friend you dearly love.

In seconds you're emotions begin to calm down and you no longer have this deep driving desire to lay on the horn. So we can control our thoughts., our thoughts don't have to control us. And this is something even an unsaved man or woman can do. But I've seen the work of how the Holy Spirit can take these minds of ours and change them.

Knowing Jesus is in control and takes our weary and burdened selves and will give us perfect peace and rest IS a promise. We can count on Him to follow through with what He promised but I have to first believe He will. He supernaturally takes away the heavy burden and gives the peace and calm needed.

I'm amazed how this works hand in hand with our minds being transformed to believe. Believing is seeing.
That goes against the human mind set that says seeing is believing. The Holy Spirit working in our minds and hearts is much more powerful than our emotions. He can change us to think differently. It is shocking that when we are working WITH Him by faith IN Him to actually do what He has said., it changes how we have lived for years. He can change us from the inside out.

[h=3]Psalm 23[/h][h=4]A Psalm of David.[/h][SUP]1 [/SUP]The Lord is my Shepherd [to feed, guide, and shield me], I shall not lack.
[SUP]
2 [/SUP]He makes me lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads me beside the still and restful waters.
[SUP]
3 [/SUP]He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him—not for my earning it, but] for His name’s sake.
[SUP]
4 [/SUP]Yes, though I walk through the [deep, sunless] valley of the shadow of death, I will fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod [to protect] and Your staff [to guide], they comfort me.
[SUP]
5 [/SUP]You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with [SUP][a][/SUP]oil; my [brimming] cup runs over.
[SUP]
6 [/SUP]Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

I have been imagining how awesome life would be and now often IS because of believing these promises for today. Our table is set in the presence of our enemies right here on this earth., not in heaven because there will be NO enemies in heaven. We are having victory right here if we would only take hold of what has already been taken hold of for us by Jesus Christ.
:D

"Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience." Heb. 4:11

It was sure a major revelation to me when I found out that the "disobedience" spoken about is UNBELIEF. That is the cause of all our problems when we fail to "believe" in Jesus Christ and His finished work for us and through us. We can do nothing without Him. He is the Vine., we are the branches. We don't have to make ourselves branches., we ARE branches., now we are to bear fruit.

He makes it so gloriously easy because faith is the new and living way for us to live. The JOY of the Lord is our strength. His yoke is easy and His burden is lite. He is calling us to believe this and walk in it. Having no fear because fear is unbelief.

Thank you for the verse, that's always a good one to think about. I just feel like for me that I never really grasp the magnitude of the bible. God is SO powerful and SO great and SO loving that I don't feel like a human mind can comprehend. In fact God is the very definition of these things because nothing can compare to Gods power, nothing can come close to comparing with Gods greatness or his love. We are talking about a being who simply spoke the entire earth (and the entire universe!!!) into existence and spoke all life into existence and a being who is everywhere and knows everything with absolute wisdom and knowledge. Sometimes I let my imagination wander about certain scripture and I always end up overwhelmed. All I know to do is say holy holy holy is God almighty!!!

Yes, and then to think this God has made Himself our Father who takes each one of us on "individually" because of His Son Jesus. "Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us that we should be called the sons of God"

The second coming is in actuality a continuation of the first.

Luk 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me
to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luk 4:19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luk 4:20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down.
And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

He stop reading just there, close the book, and sit down?

Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me
to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Isa 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And here is where He stopped reading in mid sentence.
Now the passage He quoted continues...

and [the day of vengeance] of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

Isa 61:3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD,
that he might be glorified.

Isa 61:4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations,
and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
Isa 61:5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall
be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
Isa 61:6 But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers
of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.

Isa 61:7 For your shame ye shall have double; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their
portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: everlasting joy shall be unto them.

He came the first time to complete Isa 61:1-2 but not all of verse 2.
When He returns, He will complete verse 2 and forward through verse 7.

-

He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country
to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

[h=3]Isaiah 14:7 (KJV)[/h]
The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

Luk 4:17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.
And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,

Mt12:17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
Mt12:18 Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
Mt12:19 He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.
Mt12:20 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out, till he leads justice to victory.
Mt12:21 In his name the nations will put their hope.

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me

Good timing. Yesterday I overdid. Today I'm very sore, but I keep thinking "I've got so much I need to do."

You confirmed the obvious -- No, I don't. The stuff can wait.
